    Every body has been doing different Russian packs lately, and it has made me absolutely crave some good beef Kasha even if it wasn't in the particular meal being reviewed at the time. And I have to say, the stuff that I've seen in some of those meals looks just awesome. But it is killing me, I can't seem to find it anywhere near me. And I mean ANYWHERE. LOL. Anyway, that's a cool find, I've never seen those anywhere. Thank you for showing it off. And yes, I'm quite jealous. :-)

  • @FractalMachine
    @FractalMachine 3 года назад

    the idea with the hand warmers, is actually insulation.
    if you're wearing head-to-toe arctic uniform, you stick a few of them inside and the heat remains trapped in your cloths.
    it's more about helping you maintain your body heat in extreme weather rather than just warming your hands a bit.
    if you have plenty of them, you might stick them inside your gloves, put them under your blanket, etc.
    it's rarely really used by just grabbing them in your bare hands.
    the heat output is steady but low, so you need to keep it insulated.

      @Sticky745  6 лет назад +1

      I hope we didn’t hype it up too much... it’s just one of those things that a worth checking out, and the rest of the ration ain’t so bad. I recommend heating up the entrees and not skimp on that (some tend to skip that step)

      stickyfingaz745 I love apple butters and jams so it would be hard to disappoint on that front! I think the next ration I get will be a Russian one. Want to try the kasha and the apple butter. 🙂

    Love Russian rations, got to try one of these. Nice hand warmers that is a great touch. It is probably the crackers or the vitamin drink for a short shelf life. Too bad the veggie caviar didn't make it but I would rather loose that than a Kasha or one of the meat dishes. The dry milk is a nice addition not only does it make a nice warm drink, but you can also use it for your tea and your instant oatmeal as well. (which I wrote before you did it lol) The oatmeal looks good. Hmmmm beef and potatoes. Oh that lemon/vitamin drink, not sure how I feel about it. Not bad but not good either. Kasha absolutely delicious when fried. Man I am jealous I want that Kasha so badly right now LOL. OK I can tell I am tired when you were talking about the plum and hazelnut bar I thought you said "it has a strong poo flavor" and I KNOW you said prune. The cheese is great and I LOVE the apple butter. Yes I need to get me one of these. Oooooh if you had saved the milky drink you could have put the powder in the mashed potatoes too. OMG Toshenka (I know I can't spell it worth shit) whoo hooo love that too. Thanks for the awesome review. I really need to get one of these. Happy new year to you as well.

    • @Sticky745
      @Sticky745  6 лет назад +4

      Thats pretty much the review in a nutshell lol. I had a ton of fun with this ration.. I love the endless possibilities to mix things up and try different combinations. The caviar would’ve went well with the kasha, but the tomato sauce wasn’t that bad either. I saw another reviewer mention that is was Russian hot sauce.. they definitely need to take some pointers from Mexican hot sauce because the only strong taste was the bitterness or acidity from the vinegar, no spiciness whatsoever. The tushonka made my mouth water as I was editing the video, that stuff is addictive lol. You definitely should give this ration a try, it’s worth it!

    I cant believe how much food the Russians have in their 24 hour rations! I surprised Russian soldiers aren't all about 300 lbs.! lol Excellent review to start the year off mate. I'm looking forward to see what else you have in store for us this year mate... :)

    • @Sticky745
      @Sticky745  6 лет назад +4

      Thanks mate! I believe they need all those calories for the cold climate. Your body tends to burn through that more quickly as you struggle to keep a normal body temperature. This ration is massive and full of stuff! I highly recommend it! The stewed Beef is one of the best entrees in a ration, it’s like it was cooked that same day 😁 happy new year mate!

    Air activated hand warmers can be "idled" by putting them back in their envelopes depriving them of oxygen.

  • @thunderloong
    @thunderloong 6 лет назад +1

    Gently tap teabags with the spoon or a spork to liquifact the tea leaves, it doesn't squeeze fluids out of the leaves themselves but will get the water surfacted between them to come out quickly, like draining for 4 minutes.

    The hand warmers will last a long time as long as they're in the packaging. You would usually open it up and slide it in your pocket or your gloves. There is a US brand called hothands which does the same thing.

      @Sticky745  6 лет назад +1

      I’ve never used hand warmers (I live in California) so I had no idea how it worked. From what i read you just shake it once in a while and it should last at least a day

    Russian food is ideal for cold climate. What is even better, is to make schaslick in the russian forest witih -20 degrees Celsius, campfire, meat, and some home made samagonka to go with that. Singing old soviet warsongs and somebody with a guitar to make things complete. First time i went to my Russian friends, i could not understand one word russian, nor speak it. After half a bottle of samagonka, i was fluent in russian language and started singing polyuska polye without any problem. LOL!

    No thumbs down here, LOL ! Regardless of name, the ration and review both scored! If someone does not like A review, please post your own, at your expense, your time, and trouble, taking time out of life, and see what response you get. lots of items, let's divide and conquer the meals. Breakfast, drinks and foods, looked good. Just A hint, something to try. The hand warmers, put them in ziplock bag, get all the air out. couple of days, retry. Some say they are reusable A couple of times?? Lunch, looked awesome also. Kasha and soup especially. Burnt bits give flavor! Dinner, all good. As for teabag, LOL. Perhaps, if we were having afternoon tea, with crumpets, Possibly , well, sacrilege. If eating meal, while deployed, want more flavor, or caffeine, well, I would say go for it. These are military ration reviews. They are shown, how most people would deal with a, well, substandard meal, with inferior ingredients, while trying to survive. This not proper etiquette, Just explaining what some have to go through, to secure our freedoms. Enjoy the reviews, for, what they are!?? The beef and fat is called??? and spelled ?????? Thank you friend. like kasha, kawa, kava, called all 3, this beef and fat I have heard, but not know how to spell. Great review Sticky !! Peace, John.

    Seems like all of the items are store bought things. None of them seemed to be designed for survival food directly.

    • @Sticky745

      That’s pretty much what mres are.. store bought stuff just made more “shelf stable” and of course stronger packaging.

    Stickyfingaz745 Do you ever interact with your followers? Maybe that is the reason for dislikes. No disrespect but when people ask questions they would like to be answered. I understand that you shouldn't acknowledge trolls but on the other hand you have a lot of respectful followers. People take time to watch your videos, please take the time to at least acknowledge them.
