Your videos and a few others I watch are a huge distraction for me and help me get through chronic pain not so alone. I use to be so active and lived and loved every bit of life and now I'm terminal. Just sucks. So when people make honest videos and not lying and full of crap makes people want to watch more. Doing this alone takes a lot of mental strength Ryan. 100% you should know who you are be comfortable alone ect to be able to do what you do. A lot of the van life community isn't honest, fake and just act like it's always perfect and your real. I appreciate you and all you do. Stay safe! God bless! And I can't wait for you to get to Alaska! Looking forward to that journey ❤

Aloha - I started following Ryan when had less than 75,000 subscribers. Ryan always exudes someone who is confident, secure and one who lives life on his own terms. He never glamorizes van life and keeps his videos real. He knows that he has the love & support of his family, his friends & his subscribers that are beside him throughout his journeys. This is never about someone trying to find himself or someone who is on a voyage of self discovery. For me, Ryan is proud to be living in a country that has so much to see, so much to discover and then he’s sharing those gems with us. Thank you Ryan for being you & for all that you do. We’re almost at 200,000 🎉

In relation to what you have been talking about in this video.. i didn't realize it till now, but watching your videos really is kind of a mental escape for me.
I live in israel and own a camper trailer. Got it in order to travel more and at least for a short while at a time live the vanlife experience.
But i don't get to do it as much as i want to.. i run a dog training and daycare business.. so work always is in the way....
But watching your videos gives me the drive to make time for traveling. And i am working towards making the business more self sustained so i can do so!
    So thanks for that!

Very inspiring explanation at the end. I've been living alone since out of high school, and I honestly don't feel the need to make a bunch of friends (even though I have made some very close ones that are like family now) or be surrounded by people all the time. It is nice to get to know oneself every minute of the day. That's why I can't wait to RV full time with the pups and a wolfdog (that's going to take all the time in my day alone lol).

Hi, Ryan. I’ve just been watching from (I think) 11 months ago the episode when you were sand-boarding. I’m not sure why I enjoy your story so much, but a lot has to do with the life you live by yourself and the philosophy that you’ve developed over time and, in this episode, explain to those who follow your journey. I lived for a short time in Fort St. John, near the beginning of the Alaska (no "n“) Highway, and found particularly interesting your trip to the northern part of North America. Incidentally, I’m 82 and have lived solo most of my life, so can empathize with your life style. Thanks, too, for all your cooking tips, several of which I’ve followed and enjoyed.

Your being alone helped me get thru my lonelyness. But I'm alone cause my husband passed away a year ago and that is hard for me to understand how you can be away from your girlfriend so much. Not sure if it's a commitment issue but if I was her I'd want you with me not so far away. But my husband and I were married over 25 years so we were used to life together. Have a great day. Besides when you go live your not alone but love the videos more. Dawn from Pennsylvania

It's good to hear that you're feelings about a van life are realistic and positive. Some of the other RUclipsr's I've watched seem almost resentful and somewhat depressed after a year or so of living on the road, but you give off a more natural vibe. I can definitely see a big difference between people that enjoy and love who they are and those that are trying to escape or are looking for something that can't be found out there. Your outlook on it is very good to hear and it explains a few things. Love watching your vids even when you are staying put for a couple of days. lol...I like hearing you chit chat and cook when you are staying somewhere, even if the scenery doesn't change.

Hoping Ryan goes far and continues his love for the vanlife.

I would love to travel the country this way some day but along with my husband and young son. I don't know what it would look like but it's something I am working towards. For now we travel by plane at least twice a year, our next trip is in May.
My son and I love historic places, military history, and air and space museums.
We've seen a lot of the old military batteries near us in San Francisco. We also visited an old radar station from WW2 in Northern CA on the coast in the redwoods.

When I am visiting my family during the winter months, we go to buttercup and Gordon’s well(closer to Arizona), I live the dunes but we have a group of 20 Polaris RZR’s, you experiencing the dunes without a side-by-side is priceless to see. Very good advice towards the end of the video about traveling alone and how it might not be for everyone even though it seems intriguing. I'm the same way where I don't mind being alone but of course not ALL the time. I think if I actually vanlifed it I wouldn't constantly be on the go like you are, because I also don't care as much about scenic things as most people do. I think what I would do personally is chase good weather around for the most part and maybe stay in cool cities/towns for extended periods of time. Granted this wouldn't probably make for a great youtube channel as far as content goes.

Been watching for a few months now and you’re the only RUclips channel that I always watch whenever a new video comes out. I think it’s awesome what you do and how comfortable you are with yourself. Made me think, with all of the technology today I’m sure it makes it easier to be “alone,”. How do you think you would fare if this was say 1800 and you were in a wagon traveling alone…? The cooking portion would be pain in the ass I imagine.

i would love to live the van life, however my partner hates the idea. And as the song goes, "I'd rather live with him in his life, than live without him in mine".
Therefore I live vicariously this life through yours.
    And you do it well.
    Good onya mate.

I appreciate what you had to say at the end because I feel pretty much the same way. I am a loner when it comes to traveling because my friends and I rarely could get the same amount of time off. We wanted to go to the same places and do much of the same but scheduling such a trip was too often impossible. Fortunately or unfortunately my travels began on an international scale and I remember telling my parents that I am so grateful for the opportunity to see the world, but I haven't seen my own country to any great extent. It wasn't until I moved to Seattle that I was able to start seeing a lot of the Western part of the US but to this day, I still haven't seen much of the Central and Eastern parts other than to transfer between flights in those areas. You are doing great and I am very envious of what all you have been able to accomplish and I wish you only the best! I really enjoy your vlogs and look forward to your future adventures. Thanks for all you do!

Hi Ryan, I am from Asia your videos have inspired me and I was thinking of traveling, self driving and exploring around California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah at the end of the year. But after seeing so many crimes reported on social media, like the southern border issues, do you think it’s still safe for tourist? Thanks!

    • @badwater
      @badwater Год назад +2

Hey Eyuli. Yes, do it! While there is some crime everywhere, it's concentrated in rough parts of the bigger cities. I'm 62 years old and have never been a victim of crime (thank the lord). The southwestern USA is magical... and the people are very kind. Take common sense precautions and you will be fine... and there are way more good people than bad. Cheers from Alabama, USA.

I have to tell you Ryan, that I love watching your videos. The way you talk and the way you express yourself, it feels like you are talking to us, like I am there. The things you do and say, seem so simple, but I can't stop watching them, I actually look forward to where you go, what you cook, the content you share, etc. Everything just seems so real. I know it can get lonely out there, but it gets lonely everywhere. Life is what you make it, and you are doing great things, and in my eyes, you are living the dream. I watch a ton of RUclips channels, and you are in my top 3 for sure. Thank you for such great content and thank you for being so real and down to earth and sometimes funny. Keep doing what you are doing, because you make people feel good, and we love watching your videos. Take care
