I was on the fence initially but man... the new Gate Guardian cards look like so much fun lmao
I've been trying them out. They're not the most consistent, namely, sometimes you just brick REALLY hard on them. But holy shit are they fun when they work.
They are really fun and surprisingly competent against decks that target. We're waiting for more support, there are some cards the paradox brothers used that probably will get retrained. The gate guardian core is cheap but the illusion of chaos and prisma package you have to run is not. And you can get handtrapped to death, take it into account.

I know yugioh has burned you out a lot lately but these will be the best and jankests games of all time.
Gate guardian is such a fun deck. I brought it to the YCS (crazy, I know) and was one match away from making day 2. Pleasantly surprised.
Gate guardian can make some powerful plays, but there are no one card combos, so it will take some luck. A patient opponent will also be able to figure out the deck's weaknesses by game 2 so long as he's careful.
So is it anything more than a rogue deck? No, not really. Is it an absolute joy to play? Absolutely!
Also shoutout to the tcg for not short printing anything and making a bad deck cost an arm and a leg (looking at you red eyes)

Is so funny some decks have no out to borrelend dragon. And some decks do, but the pilots refuse to read it.
Its probably complete trash now but i remember making a metamorphised insect queen, seal of orichalcos and earthbound inmortal uru as the final board state. Instect queen protects agsinst destruction and earthbound + seal protects from attacks while attacking the opponent directly.

Yeah that's about all this was. They're not able to play "modern" versions of the decks because that would mean giving up things like DPE and Avramax which most players making this kind of thing refuse to do. Even the Gate Guardian deck just ended up being a hero deck since those are the cards that actually did anything for it.

Yea, in a lot of cases, depending on support, there really isn't much you can do. Red-Eyes is the perfect example of this due to how bad its endboard tools are because Konami did not know what to do with the archetype

i was waiting for this vid because for the first time i was able to catch a thread when he first posts, so i sent in a kuriboh/Destiny board deck that i call bakuriboh, when i saw it wasnt in the vid i wasnt bummed cuz i just thought "maybe he just wasnt feeling it" cuz it was very incomplete(it didnt even have an extra), so i went to see the stream vod cuz i wasnt able to catch it live. THIS MF SKIPPED MY DECK CUZ HE WAS TOO BUSY LAUGHING DOING A BIT ABOUT HOW HE SHOULDNT ROLEPLAY THE PARADOX BROTHERS! he didnt even see my deck bro! like i didnt think it was gonna be in the vid but maaaaaaan that just hurts on a different level. still a big fan and love the channel, but PLEASE DONT JUST SKIP DECKS WHEN YOU ARE CAUGHT UP IN A BIT! I'm probably a Yugiboomer and I don't think we'd consider some of those games to really qualify. If your endboard isn't the "star" monster of your deck, or its derivatives, some other neat monsters we liked despite synergy, and a couple of backrow that will hopefully protect it, then we'll probably go "ehw, where's the redeyes in all this?". What a lot of them/us want is probably, like you said, mostly to play like the characters from a really mediocre scripted tv show with no real idea of the rules of the game it was making up playing as it went along. The closest we ever got was like our weird ongoing psuedo-sealed games where we bought a single starter deck and then no more than probably 6 of any additional discrete pack at a time as the game progressed (because we were relying on birthday money for it probably), and never bought any individual cards, so you always ended up with really schizophrenic pools and were playing like 60 cards from 3 diverse strategies that didn't line up because you liked them. Or felt clever for seeing them, or just thought they were funny.
Yeah what we want doesn't exist, has never been what the competitive sphere really was, and probably couldn't make us happy which makes so much of the old support for our pet archetypes just bait provided by Konami. But I'm also a bitter cynic.
