I guess the pride bumped into this new mom by accident, because normally lionesses introduce cubs to the pride when they are around 6 weeks old.
Unfortunately this cub was too young to stay with the older cubs. It died a few hours later from exhausting caused by the rough play. It happened after the live drive. Another guide witnessed this. His video footage of this sad development was featured on NGW.

You'd be rebellious too, 8f your bigger brothers and sisters if your sibblings were roughing you up. Your only choice is to defend yourself. That's what this few weeks old cub is doing. He can't be no more than about 5 weeks old. You can tell by his eyes, looks like they just started opening up. It's poor cub, not poor mom. She should be disaplining her older cubs. 😿🦁😠👿

So sad this baby didn't make it.but I had a suspicion that it wouldn't and just can't watch anymore.I am well aware this happens, but is bit much as I know that baby is to small to be hanging alone with the older cubs alone :(

There is nothing funny about this. This cub is alone and has become plaything for the bigger cubs which can be very dangerous for little one, , poor tiny baby. the cub needs mom and protection , he is very exhausted 😢

Yes. Little cubs need to sleep a lot, but being constantly poked and prodded and is too stressful and exhausting. I hope it's still alive as I was worried about the rough treatment. It may not look rough, but the older cubs don't know their strength yet, hence mother and aunt warning them.

Very sad to see the little one being bullied by the older ones. Not sure why the mom introduced the cub to the pride at this age, usually they introduce after 2 months, but this cub looks just three weeks old at a max. And, reading that it did not survive the bullying makes me sad. RIP cub.

Tiny little cub, so cute. I can’t help but wonder if this little one is well. All the other cubs and lionesses are so rough with, tiny. I felt like I wanted to pick it up and look after it.

The people filming are in a totally open vehicle. Do they not realize that if the mother & older ones think the baby is in danger they could easily attack the vehicle and people won’t stand a chance.
The lionesses are used to the cars from the day they were born.

It hurts my heart, I cannot bear anything wrong with the little ones, whatever animal or human being. In my opinion, he was brave defending himself and the sadness of the photographer did not do anything that was supposed to help him if I were in your place I would have tried to save him by all means

@salsa seed... it is extremely SADDENING to watch what happens in nature. The only time that there is any HUMAN INTERVENTION & HELP is when any Man Made Thing's have caused that animal any injury. In other words, if the animal was caught in a snare, the Vets will be called in, they will sedate that animal and remove the wire snare from the animals, leg, neck or sometimes even the Elephants get caught in snares, that's why you sometimes see Elephant's with part of their trunk missing. If it's in nature and happens in nature, like with this Cubbie, even when watching from a vehicle there is no HUMAN INTERVENTION allowed. The other reason being, if you jump off the vehicle to try save that "cubbie" You become the Meal.. Preditors will defend the offspring to the death... So sad as it may be, NATURE has it's own rules... ♥️🦁🐾🐘🐆♥️🦁🐆🐾🐘♥️🦁🐾🐆🐘♥️🦁🐆🐾🐘♥️🦁🐆🐾🐘
Stop think this is fun, so stupid the cub is suffering from the rough play and eventually wear out and die, the cub is exhausted and confuse, the mother usually very protective if she has more than 1 cub, she will neglect and eventually abandoned single cub, she let the other older cub bash it like a toy change so many hands and the cub will die, this is pure suffering, no fun to watch.
Bless his heart! Poor little tyka-doo! .. I hope little one has survived since this was published. It's heart breaking when mama's abandon their sole cub.
Older cubs are often too rough with these cubs and sometimes hurt or kill them..

@@carolv8450 probably mom introduced in right time a lion mother can have several cubs, in this case may be she lost others and, introduced this tiny one to protect from other predators

Unfortunately It was too early. Saw footage about the older cubs playing with the tiny cub and it didn't survive.

That is one feisty cub! I hope he/ she survived. There is a reason lioness's wait two months to introduce their cubs to the pride. Lions are rough and tough with the little ones.

Guides should not be allowed to speak over a certain decibel level. This one acted more as a tourist than a guide.

Wow you notice when Mom is not around the older siblings or cousins pick on him, but back off as soon as she gets close and they see her. One of the older ones probably an aunt roars at the younger one when he gets too rough with the cub 6:00.

The woman speaking doesn't know what she is talking about, yes the baby cub is very feisty but those young teenage lions can hurt the tiny cub ... those youngster lions don't understand or care about the baby cub. They don't need protection. The guides know what they are doing. Most of the animals in this area are used to the cars from the day they were born and are treated with respect.. This cub has no mange, and the mother is introducing to the rest of pride. They came nowhere near hurting him, believe me, they could have killed it at anytime if they wanted too. They have to learn life lessons to survive, they don't get trophies for just showing up. Real life is hard.

soulmelodies it’s a disease caused by mites burrowed into the skin that causes patchy losses of hair if it becomes severe.

I am wondering why the cub is not in the den with it's mother. Maybe the pride ran into mom and the cub. The other lions will tear it apart if mom doesn't intervene. They will be too rough.

What I don't understand. How comes you can drive a vehicle not covered and lions do not attack and jump on passengers for a nice meal?
The big cats don't associate the cars with food and the guides respect them.. There are strict rules when big cats are around. People on foot after sunset is a different story, but as long as the guides know where the cats are, it's pretty safe to be out. Most of the time stupid tourists cause trouble because they don't follow the rules. And sometimes lions eat poachers.

I don't think it was the only cub, no doubt the mother lost one or two. Also, she could be a first time mother and a bit naive. The larger cubs are rough and play to hard to the point of exhaustion for the cub, he's going to need a lot of luck to survive. I truly hope he does.

I always wonder why these humans sitting on an open jeep were not attacked by these fierce animals? Is it because they have already had their meals this moment so they were not interested in these humans?
The big cats are used to the cars from the day they were born and the rangers/guides handle them with respect. No tourist cars allowed here.

Killed by the older cubs. In this area they don't intervene. Only when caused by human.
Sabi Sands has private game reserves only and the animals can roam free to the Kruger National Park.

So irresponsible for lioness to leave little one unattended while hunting. I’m surprised. Cub clearly is in distress, not enjoying bullying by older ones.
This is one of the only moms in the world who can actually walk away from such a small baby momentarily and know a stranger wouldn’t be stupid enough to kidnap or hurt her baby! She’d come out of that grass and kill you before you ever realized she was there. Trust me, That cub is just fine right where he is! His mommy is definitely not far from him! 🤣😍❤️😼

2011ACVVV Ruff play is normal though. I watch lion documentaries all the time and lionesses constantly go in heat when a male moves on or is ousted so sometime a lioness will have Cubs that are different in age from multiple pregnancies! And the older cubs ruff play with the smaller ones. Ruff play that killed this cub was most likely an accident. Ruff play usually doesn’t result in death and the lioness will often tolerate ruff play and sometimes even participate in ruff play.

The fact of the matter is that if a Lioness introduces the cubs too soon and is not supervising them and if there are older cubs or Lions then the new cub has a huge chance of being mauled to death. This is what is common and the reason why its wise to keep the cubs away until theyre a few months old. The mother was not in the grass ready to pounce at all.

Unusual she is bringing it out this young. Usually a couple more weeks I think. Thankfully the mother is right there to protect it. UPDATE: Poster states cub was killed later the pride may have discovered her den. They were not just playing.

Rachel Schwebach it is common for the siblings to kill cubs. That’s why they have such a low low survival rate. They have everything against them.
Didn't you read the video uploaders response? It didn't survive. The other older cubs ended up killing it.

This tiny cub has serious mange. The mother lioness has abandoned the cub, the few minutes she was with the cub she just dropped it and left. One cub in a liter, unusual. This cub is sad on it's own. not fun to watch the older cubs bully it.

I was wondering!! Is it mange or mud from being womped and tossed by mom. - I agree with you,.. It is very heart breaking to see that the mama walked away. - It made me wonder,.. could the cub be ill, or is mom just ignoring the little one because it's a runt. Hearing the little one call out for mom breaks my heart knowing that she's not responding. God I pray it's still alive! (6/21/2019)

Do these guy's know that an OPEN Vehicle will NOT protect them and Lions can jump? 🚙🐆 This is probably one of the DUMBEST thing's I have ever seen anyone do. 😒
They know. But as long as they respect the lions nothing will happen. The lions don't see the people in the car as a threat or food. That is the advantage of private game reserves. No tourists who feed the animals and step out of the car to make selfies. ;)

Cherry Rose Lions don’t see people as food unless they are starving to death. Their food source are animals who eat plants and grass.
