My '80 Eagle was great, even had a factory CB radio to talk to your good buddies, but everything started breaking at about 150,000 miles.

That was a good car, I had the exact same model.
all the way down to the interior except mine was the manual trans.
I paid like $2500 for it almost new.
We used to call the 258 the postal motor. popular in all the mail trucks.
it will run forever and the car is a tank.
perfect car for ice and snow in alaska, almost the only option for 4 wheel drive.

Back in the 80's, lots of people owned these things in West Virginia. Back of course when it used to snow more. They were ugly then, and ugly now. But tough reliable vehicles.

A coworker of mine daily drives his AMC Eagle to this day. It has a straight six under the hood. Black exterior.

In the movie Weird Science, this is the car Gary's dad drove and yelled out the window "YOU SON OF A B***CH"! I remember these Eagle's selling in the year 2000 and after for $5000 in northern Michigan. They were still common in Auto Trader at the time and a few years after.

One of the most underrated cars and car companies ever.If the government hadn't been biased and bailed them out like they.did Chrysler,Dodge and Plymouth, they might still be around!! I have always thought that was a dirty deal and done with taxpayer money 💰💰!!! It seems like the big 3 always get whatever they want.Amc/ Rambler were the first to get into the economy car market and this should have been considered. My brother had an AMC Hornet with a 232 or 258 and he drove it for 300,000 miles and it was still running strong with no blow by when he traded it in.All of his 3 boys were between 6'4" ond 6'8" and his wife was over 6'.Thats a lot of weight to be hauling around!!!

The AMC Eagle was a GREAT BLEND of Jeep 4WD and the ANCIENT "Hornet" shell! It worked VERY WELL! IF AMC "brains" (like ALL auto execs) would have "brilliantly arrived" at this OBVIOUS "concept" sooner! PERHAPS they could have ACTUALLY JUSTIFIED their OVERBLOWN "salaries" AND SAVED THEIR COMPANY!

It sold the day after the video came out. The seller is shown in the footage of the left rear window.

Oh, sorry didn't know it was a rebuilt engine. I can say it was a good reliable car back in the day. One of my friends father had one. Back when AMC/Jeep made a decent car. The Jeeps today are horrible. I just got rid of my 2016 Cherokee because the oil pump went when I was on I-95 here in Philly. Not much of a warning. Low pressure light popped on. Got off 5 miles down the road after I slowed down and the engine was toast. The newer Chryslers and Jeeps are POS!!!👍👍👍
