Gonna pick up a Q50 Hybrid AWD fully loaded, multimedia pack, 360 degree parking cam, sports brakes everything, cant wait. Only thing im kinda afraid of is the mileage as its in 150k km (about 93k miles) but it has a full service history for the first 50k miles, only serviced at Infiniti, after which it got to an old Porsche collectors wife, so I have high hopes that its a-okay. Thank you for all the vids on the platform, yours is the most in depth of all of content creators. Its a bit over the market price, at like 22k USD, but eh, you pay for a quality car. I hope I will be just as happy as you are with yours!
Have you looked at the cost to replace the hybrid battery? I had a q50 hybrid. You’ll love the torque. The regenerator brakes are a little difficult to get used to.
@@Lesleggnot yet, just test drove the car today. Pulls like a train. Will see how long the batteries are in their life cycle. Funny thing is, I wasnt used to hear all the road noise when in pure electric mode, as im used to ICE cars :)) i thought for a sec something is broken.
Same 7AT from “Jatco” in the 370z? I had mine replaced at 56,000…. Been fine for the past 50,000… I think you do have to do the fluid change and understand that it’s a liability if you beat the snot out of it…. I plan on VR30 swap…. Much faster cleaner shifts
Put 194k KM on my 2015. I did not, baby the car, and did many full throttle pulls... a little Rev flair and slipped out of gear once in a while. Apart from that, just regular maintenance and very reliable. Replaced a throttle body and 2 front wheel bearings during its life. Miss my Q50
I wonder if the rear cradle for the Q50S is the same for the Q70L. At some point soon I will have to replace it on my 2015 Q70L. is there a known issue on why the valve body will fail? My individual Infiniti Q70L just clocked over 200,000 miles. I have serviced the transmission every 50,000 miles. I’ve noticed that as I approach 50,000 miles the transmission starts to slip and buck at low acceleration particularly up a hill. Once the transmission service is performed, it starts to operate normally with no more bucking or slippage. In my honest opinion, it’s a lack of scheduled maintenance. Obviously, the engine oil should be replaced every 5000 miles with good synthetic oil. The transmission should be serviced every 50,000 miles. The differential should be serviced every 60,000 miles. The brake fluid should be monitored and changed when water is detected. The coolant should be serviced every 30,000 miles to 40,000 miles The transfer case should be serviced every 50,000 miles. All these Infiniti 3.7L VQ engines with the seven speed automatic simply require scheduled maintenance.
You described me right now 😅 I'm thinking of buying a 2016 q50 400 for 26k with 65k miles but I'm afraid it will be a nightmare and specially the fact that it has some mods to it like the exhaust. I am afraid that the previous owner had fun with it and left the problems for me to deal with.
I just went thru the valve body issue at 65k , was gonna replace it but went along taking the car to a shop to get a vr30 trans installed for less than 2k🔥 drives amazing now

The people who complain about car issues are clueless and doesn’t know how to maintain cars in general. Car will break if not properly maintain as simple as changing oil 3-5k miles. I have a q50 3.0t bought used at 30k miles and now sitting at 93k miles has never have any issues except changing the serpentine belt cuz it was squeaky have new intake and z1 hoses as well. I changed it every 3k miles with Nissan oil z1 oil bolts. My car STILL DRIVE SO DAMN GOOD LIKE BRAND NEW. No turbo problems at all boost still kicks in. Those people who break their cars are clueless who can’t maintain simple maintenance. They abuse the car and can’t take care of it it’s simple as it is.
2016 3.0TT here. Car stopped shifting this morning on the way to work with no warning signs beforehand. 55k miles. I baby the thing so I was baffled. $3,011 total. Here’s to hoping it was a one-time issue. Had to replace the rear differential gaskets earlier this year too.
@@SpeedCultureStudios not exactly certain. They said the rear differential was leaking oil. Ironically I changed the oil just months prior while in warranty and there wasn’t any known issues. Now that I’m out of warranty I’m highly considering trading the car in. I keep seeing stuff about failed turbos in 2016 models 😩.
I would love to see a video of your opinions on upgrading/swapping the 7speed trans. My ‘13 transmission is at 10200 miles and with wanting to do power upgrades the trans is my biggest concern.
Either do the VR30 7at swap, or buy another low mile good condition 2011-2015 trans, add an aftermarket trans cooler, and stay on top of trans fluid service. I service mine every 30k miles, but every 60k at the most is fine.
My valve body seems to act up under low throttle low rpm shifting between 1-2 has been that way for over 60k miles now vehicle has 200,000 miles on it currently, transmission fluid change did nothing to help but vehicle remains consistent knock on wood it has been One of the most reliable consistent enjoyable vehicle's and I've owned many reliable platforms owned including The gm 3.8, I didn't break a front u joint which shattered the front differential
I have a 2015 3.7 with 154k miles on it and have changed Valve covers at about 100k. Currently have a vacuum leak that i can’t find but most likely an old hose.
My 2015 hasn’t had any valve body issues yet or rear diff bushing issues yet either and I’m about to turn over 107,000 miles🤞it’s still a great whip tho!! like you say they are getting older and things do happen.. but you don’t hear nothing but the complaints, you don’t hear about the people who have mo issues but any car you buy will have some things that need to be replaced after some period of time!!! I think either way the platform is great and the car is just all around sound and a lot of fun to own and drive daily 💪🏼💯
70k 2015 my transmission defiantly felt clunky i had a code P0826. cleared code and feels better for now. local nissan/infinti shop told me 4500 out the door for a vr swap transmission. also other issues up untill this point stock struts at 29k blown . rear diff bushing and many end links. the car has been great other wise

Don’t own a q50 but my auto 370z transmission broke a 2nd time on me. When you try to take it out park and put it in drive or reverse it just stall and cut off. Now gotta find yet again another transmission or pay extra to try to get the vr30 transmission to fit in my car. Worst transmission I ever dealt with🤦🏾♂️
Since all the Qs are being sold as used definitely check up on the transmission make sure its good before everything is finalized on the deal! Story time: Carvana fucked me over and my car was shifting hard as shit, so luckily i caught it early and got it replaced with a new transmission under the 100 day warranty.
The valve body problem isn’t exclusive to the Q50. When I was an Infiniti tech I also replaced them on the Ex and FX SUV’s. I’m thinking it’s just a faulty component on those particular 7AT’s on the 37. Not that bad of a job to do honestly. Just a bit messy lol.

my 16 q50 3.0 breaks fucking constantly. I'm in the process of switching everything back to stock and selling. ill always love Infiniti and Nissan but I'm switching to German. looking at an Audi s4 or something with a b58, only because working on them is easier. my q50 has gone through 4 sets of injectors, oem injectors failed, then failed again so switched to aftermarket, which also eventually failed, then got warrantied with an upgraded set, which also failed. in process of getting them replaced and then selling it. somehow both throttle bodies had to be replaced, my block was porous so that was replaced as well, water pump had to be replaced, turbo seals went out, had them replaced under warranty, less than 10k miles later blown again. idk how others have such good luck with their 3.0t, but mine has been a curse, i know this video is about the 3.7 but still. Seems that the 18+ vr30s have been good though, so maybe just stay away from the 16-17 vr30s lol. Had a 335i Tuned loved it for a couple months. Once I realized BMW dealerships are full of cucks and the motors are half plastic I moved away from them. Gasket leaks, needed walnut blasting on the intake valves, oil filter housing constantly leaked.. Bad injectors and dealing with BMW was a fucking nightmare. They dont give a fuck.
You traded it for an oil leaking system lol
You'll love it more a few years later when everything starts to leak and plastic parts start to crumble.
Miss my Q50
Excellent!
3.7 is well proven though
Changed my subframe last week and did the differential fluid change and all bushing as well
Nice job!
Probably best to try and find one from an old lady. Lord knows most Q50s are driven by middle-age women.
i have a 2015 q50 had it for about 5 years bought with 38k miles never hard a issue with it till recently with the valve body. car jus hit 102k miles
I just went thru the valve body issue at 65k , was gonna replace it but went along taking the car to a shop to get a vr30 trans installed for less than 2k🔥 drives amazing now
was it an easy job to replace it for a vr30 transmission?

Yup I had transmission problems I just vr30 swap my transmission it's worth it
The people who complain about car issues are clueless and doesn’t know how to maintain cars in general.
If you’re going to abuse a car, you better know how to work on it or have the pockets to fix them!
That’s crazy. Did they tell you what the issue was? By rear diff gasket do you mean the seal around the axel?
@@SpeedCultureStudios not exactly certain. They said the rear differential was leaking oil. Ironically I changed the oil just months prior while in warranty and there wasn’t any known issues. Now that I’m out of warranty I’m highly considering trading the car in. I keep seeing stuff about failed turbos in 2016 models 😩.
@@SpeedCultureStudios valve body / speed sensor was the issue.

144k hwy miles and am replacing it now,i still like my q so to me its worth it since its the only problem ive had,and have kept up with maintenance
My friend got a 2015 Infiniti q40 basically a g37 different name from caravana with 50 k miles and right after the valve body went
had a valve body issue on my old 2017 3.0t. Input speed sensor goes out and puts the car into limp mode.
Had my fluid flushed every 40k miles. I'm currently at almost 90k miles on my 2012 mostly hard city driving... no issues...knock on wood .
Nice!
I have a 2015 3.7 with 154k miles on it and have changed Valve covers at about 100k. Currently have a vacuum leak that i can’t find but most likely an old hose.

Keep Trans Fluid Changed and use a Trans Cooler, Great Video as always
On Reddit they say that a lot of issues happen after a trans fluid change

how? how long was your warranty?
Don’t own a q50 but my auto 370z transmission broke a 2nd time on me. When you try to take it out park and put it in drive or reverse it just stall and cut off. Now gotta find yet again another transmission or pay extra to try to get the vr30 transmission to fit in my car. Worst transmission I ever dealt with🤦🏾♂️
Since all the Qs are being sold as used definitely check up on the transmission make sure its good before everything is finalized on the deal!

Carvana fucked me over and my car was shifting hard as shit, so luckily i caught it early and got it replaced with a new transmission under the 100 day warranty.

Had a brake sensor issue, but its built into the master cylinder. $1 part. $3000 job.
Oh wow that’s ridiculous
Then the ones with turbos, they are going bad. Dont make them like the G35 anymore
Yes definitely shared between the models. I’ve been seeing complaints of valve body issues in the SUVs lately as well
I heard the valve bodies go out due to sludge and people not putting in new trans fluid do you think thats what it is?

Because of these issues, is that why they are so cheap aftermarket? I went to see a couple of Q50, but they needed thousands of dollars in repairs, and it had nothing to do with the things you mentioned 😅. I went to with a Lexus GS 350 with 186k miles that drives like a new car instead. $13k is what I paid for the Lexus. It's funny that one of the Q50 that I was going to go see had transmission issues 😮
It’s not because of the issues. It’s just a typical used car thing-they don’t hold their value that well, but the used market is down right now as well

I’m with ya 100%
my 16 q50 3.0 breaks fucking constantly.
