Update: Kishane Thompson is running the 60m dash this year... via World Athletics: worldathletics.org/competitions/world-athletics-indoor-tour/news/kishane-thompson-indoor-debut-astana-60m
Love indoors, especially NCAA indoors. Indoors is much more of an East Coast and European event, they take it more seriously. Jacobs is a great 60m guy, if he's ready he's pretty tough to beat. Bromell is also a great 60m guy if he's ready. I think Lyles uses the 60m to help his 100m, and really doesn't take it as seriously as Jacobs, so it's hard to know in what kind of shape he'll be in come indoor worlds if he even competes. I think Jacobs showed he can still be a medal factor at Outdoor Worlds this year, if he can stay healthy and put a couple of season together without injury, he could be a contender.
Super excited for NCAA indoors. Going to be hot this year! I completely agree that Jacobs can very much be in the mix for a medal outdoors this year. As long as the health is there, he is a 9.8 low guy, if not faster.
Y'all gotta put respect on his name. Noah actually won the national 60m title last season 💯.. It's crazy no one really mentions it though . Like both major sports networks and other channels always skip that race😅
Agreed. Had he not gotten banned, I would have but Coleman breaks or gets close to breaking the 100m AR of 9.69 by now. I still think he can match or slightly improve his PB this year though.
@@TheFinalLeg "Had he not gotten banned..." Why did he get banned? He missed four drug tests in one year. Why do you miss four tests in one year - especially after you won an appeal after the third? Only two 100m men have ever been suspended for whereabouts violations in history. His 100m times are down since he returned. One has to wonder if it was really all his talent.
12:20 I was in Lyles' chat that day (you can see me on the screen)! I commented at one point asking the camera man - Jack - to run an all-out 100m and they saw the message and he did it (he ran like 11.xx I think idk)! I single-handedly changed the future of the 100m because I made Lyles stay at the track for an extra 5 minutes or so lol. As for the 60m, if Lyles runs at World Indoors he has to be the favourite (if Coleman isn't running and Bromell would have to not be at his best) since he's quite consistent and does have a fast PB. I don't think what Lyles does indoors will affect his outdoors 100m that much since we saw in 2024 him improving his indoor PB to 6.43 didn't help his 0-60m split outdoors much.
I hope the indoor podium this year has Trayvon, LMJ, and/or Omanyala so they all get the respect they deserve. Someone I do wanna see indoors this year even if it's unlikely is Tebogo, I feel he would benefit a lot from fixing his transition. Then again, he's known to do more 400m work in the early season which seems to work really well so his coach might decide not to take the risk of drastically changing his season like that. But also Tebogo did say he'll focus on the 100 more this year so maybe he will end up indoors.
Jacob’s is very interesting because he has great/very effective mechanics, a great start, and his finish is insane. He has been doing the Elaine Thompson thing since 2022, but still, his talent cannot be denied. I do think others are faster, and he really needs his Nike’s in order to perform his best, but he’s not out of the conversation. Add to it, he is black american and Italian…he’s got the genetics of the folks who are winning, and he has the money, so I wouldn’t count him out as “inferior” based upon not being from America/Jamaica, or another nation known for this, because he’s literally African American-Italian.
@ I agree, but will he run the PB needed to go sub 9.8? Honestly, he was in the mix at Paris, ran 9.85 (a good PB consistent time), and the delays slowed everyone down tons since their heart rate dropped. Nit, I mean, he is in the mix.
Yea Marcell arguably has some of the best mechanics and sprint form of any athlete in a long time. But yea, injures have gotten the best of him, but he seems to be getting back healthy, so wouldn't be surprised to see him do well this indoor season.
@@TheFinalLeg yeah, I know. I saw the clips of he, his wife, and the family where they went deep into the entire struggle. It’s like, he’s got the injuries, but on top of it, he’s hurting himself mentally because he’s fighting off the stresses of the target he’s placed upon himself! While I do not think Christian Coleman is going to go backwards by any means (he’s looking more and more amazing lately…I can see him shaping up big time) to ever lose a 60M again when he wants it, Jacobs is possibly the next guy to go sub 6.4 if he really wants it. I simply cannot sleep on his talent; he’s like the male Elaine of the sport, where the mechanics are so clean, we never know when they’re gonna peak and drop a bomb upon us!
Christian Colman is getting back into shape and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is on top again. Two years ago, he was coming back, training, and working on his endurance. Last year, he worked on his endurance TONS, I totally believe he was ready to go 9.7, but he completely ruined his execution in the trials. But, I actually think Christian Coleman is now faster than ever, and for me, seeing him jog a 9.8 last year and also that lead leg of the (failed) 4x100…OMG, Dennis Mitchell is gonna fix his final 15 and no one will be able to run him down! If he breaks his world record in the 60, lights out!
@@stevie586 9.86 on the lead leg was because Kenny took off early. The split is taken when the outgoing runner passes 100m. He didn't actually run that fast more like 10.2-10.3
@ no, I never saw his split until you just mentioned…I’m referring to his leg. He was FLYING around that bend and murdered that stagger! If Kenny took off early, that would mean CC ran faster than the split, not slower; do not forget it takes longer to catch up to folks when they are too far ahead. That looked like the best lead leg I have ever seen from him!
@@k.o6157 he really doesn’t get caught until about 90 or so. CC has been running 200’s and 400’s…he damn bear made the 200m team for Paris, which totally had me in shock, LOL. I think his problems are psychological, not physical. He keeps running behind himself instead of in his lane and looking at the finish line. When he does look at the finish line, he anticipates it and over strides, in a panic! A confident Christian Coleman caught Bolt from behind. Weak Bolt or not, no one does that less they’ve got the talent.
Should be more but $40K (1st), $20K (2nd), $10K (3rd) & $50K for a new WR @World Indoors is a lot of money for the vast majority of athletes who aren't in the 1% of the sport's highest earners (last place in a Final should be getting $10K). Re Noah, interesting to note the improvements to his 60/100m PBs since '22 from 6.55 to 6.43 & 9.86 to 9.79 has literally not translated into an improvement to his 19.31 200m PB/NR from when he only ran the 200m event @'22 Eugene WC. Since he started doubling 100/200m @Major Meets, has literally never run sub 19.5s in the 200m Final; ran 9.83/19.52 @'23 Budapest WC, 9.83/19.53 @'24 US OLY Trials & 9.79/19.70* @'24 Paris OLY Covid Final. Would've needed to run well under 19.4s to beat a 19.46 Tebogo who was slapping his chest 10m from the line! Bit of a hot take; love to see more of a differentiation between in/outdoors with having more 'off-distance' races as the 'set track events' in indoor track i.e. should only have; - 60m & 60mH - 300m (which of the best short sprinters can go up against the best quarter-milers who come down to this event?) - 600m (which of the best quarter-milers can go up against the best 800m runners who come down to this event?) - 1000m (which of the best 800m runners can go up against the best 1500m/Milers who come down to this event?) - 3000m (which of the best 1500/Milers can go up against the best 5/10K runners who come down to this event?)
Yea money is definitely a motivator indoors for sure. And if guys like Noah, Christian etc are not running, then the money is open for the taking. Yea your right about Noah doubling, maybe effecting is success/improvement in the 200m. I think it just highlights how tough doubling is. I even think about someone like Maurice Greene who ran his 200m PB of 19.86 and 19.87 in 1997, but then never broke 19.90 after that, including in 1999 his most legendary season with the 60m gold (WR in 1998) and 100m WR. I agree with you on off distances, specifically the 300m and 600m. Would be dope to see thoes run more often, especially considering outdoors we rarely ever see off disances like that for sprint/long sprint athletes, but we more frequently see races from 1500m, 1 mile, 3k, 2 mile, etc run or set up for athletes to attack records on.

IMO he just needs to stay injury free and I'm sure he'll be able to return to/surpass 9.8 shape

Jacob also has European indoors this year. Maybe more reason for him to go all the way until the end of the indoor season
Christian Goatman 6.32 with that Mitchell Magic. Didn't Gatlin run indoors 2014 with Mitchell?
