It really is incredible how he's 60 years old and still playing better than ever. I picked up life long injuries that make it hard to play by the time I was 20 😅😒🥺
One of the many reasons tool is awesome. The band is not all about themselves. The reason they are not on any album art or posters ect. They can go to grocery stores in peace. Haha
You actually get a sense of how big Danny is on that tiny kit. His Tool rig suits him so well, he looks a natural fit behind hit. You watch this and are like, “yep, dude’s a full 6’5’’” lol
That last smile from Danny really puts a smile on my face. It’s like watching a kid who just unpack the gift they always wanted. He seems genuinely so happy that he got to be there. It’s just pure joy, and it’s a joy for him to watch!

He knows that everyone knows he’s a good drummer, and he doesn’t always have to go all-out. It’s just about everyone having a fun time. Great guy!
I saw another video of him playing with some other kids. I think that's great, as a teacher. He's giving these kids something powerful, inspiration. They will forever be able to say that they played with the drummer of TOOL! I love how he doesn't think too highly of himself to consider playing with children beneath him. I play guitar and teach elementary in a low-income community, much like where I grew up. I lead an after school guitar club. I basically live like the film School Of Rock with Jack Black. I love making music with these kids. I know that even if they don't become professional musicians, learning an instrument is beneficial to brain development. But boy will I be proud if one makes it in music. I'm proud either way. 👍🏽👍🏽
The drum patterns this guy came up with are legendary. The part in Aenima when Maynard is singing “Learn to swim.” It’s the memorable rolling pattern that makes the song so creepy and it builds up tension magically. Danny is truly one of my favorite drummers.

Oh my god, don't even get me started on that song. Ever bit of it is so intense. It perfectly encapsulates the bitterness and disgust of the human race into 1 man. Yes, it's primarily about LA. But the idea behind it can be used as a metaphor for just being tired of the stupid bullshit our species has to offer. And every person in that band expressed the emotion perfectly.

I heard Eric Johnson say that he got to play with Mitch once and he told Mitch that he believed his drumming was as important as the guitar playing.

This isn't the first time Danny Carey has performed a gig for kids. There's a video from way back where the bass players mom or dad was filming a group of, like high school age kids, and Danny Carey was the drummer. The camera was focused on the girl base player with Danny visible in the back ground with such a smile on his face. It's nice to see that joy in his situation ... doesn't need the money but loving the shear joy of it. I true national treasure...

Yeah it's so easy to overlook Mitch but he is a legend as he was just so amazing at not just complementing Jimi but also propelling him up into and across the stratosphere as well and the Stone Free from RAH is a stellar example of the power Mitch had on the drums. I heard Eric Johnson say that he got to play with Mitch once and he told Mitch that he believed his drumming was as important as the guitar playing.

I’ve gotten to see him play on a similar set up to this at the Baked Potato a bunch of times. It’s amazing how it doesn’t seem to affect him at all. Dude will play on anything and still sound like him.

This isn't the first time Danny Carey has performed a gig for kids. There's a video from way back where the bass players mom or dad was filming a group of, like high school age kids, and Danny Carey was the drummer. The camera was focused on the girl base player with Danny visible in the back ground with such a smile on his face. It's nice to see that joy in his situation ... doesn't need the money but loving the shear joy of it. I true national treasure...
The best musicians like Danny are delighted to play to bring joy to people.
