    Miriam, this was an excellent video of information! I had never heard anyone discuss size of baseboards to ceiling height, ratio of trim, molding, etc. We just finished our new-build, which is absolutely gorgeous with lots of heavy trim, but I would have made a few changes if I had seen your video first. I really like the idea of trimming two or three windows together as one - our carpenters would have had an easier time of it and so would the painters. Plus the large headers above the doors are a bit close to the crown. Your solution to take the headers to the ceiling would have worked beautifully (again, the painters would have appreciated it). I will be sharing this information with our builder. This was the third home he has built for us and his quality and craftsmanship is exceptional.

    Can paneling be added to textured walls? Or do the walls need to have a flat finish?

    Awesome video- just in time. Question about- crown molding, thought it should always be bigger than base, are you saying that’s not true? 12 foot ceiling. Ty

    Thank you for being so detailed with your information. This is so helpful. So often times interior designers will give a couple of suggestions of something that looks pretty, but they don’t go into such depth as to ALL of our available choices, and why or why not we should choose one thing over another. I like to be fully educated before making big decisions. Thank you again! Love your videos!!

    I NEEDED THIS! Thank you! I’ve gone to pick trim 4 times, maybe more, in the last two years for our 1988 home. This house (#5) has been my biggest remodel and design challenge. Due to the market 2 years ago buying a house in a high populated area was a challenge. I had nearly no vision of potential for this house thus the MAJOR challenge. Though it has good bones the house has very little personality and not built for a southern woman in Utah. With these issues I have found your channel and one other has been more useful than the dozens of other designers’ channels I have found.
    Thank you so much. You are fantastic! Btw this is the best your hair has looked (which always looks good) in your videos ❤

    Dear Miriam,
    After watching your RUclips chanel I’m obsessed with paneled walls and want to do this in my house. I have very modern base boards that are about 5” tall and are basically squared off on top. Would you recommend paneling with such modern baseboards or I need to change the baseboards? Thank you!

    • @miriammanzointeriors
      @miriammanzointeriors  Год назад +1

      hi thanks for watching, it really depends on the look you are trying to achieve, if you want the panelling to be more traditional, you could add a piece of trim to your existing baseboard in order to give it some detail and then follow through with the other elements of your panels

    We live in a condo where all the doors are a very dark stain. The baseboard on the bedrooms are also stained and builder grade 4”. I am wondering if it would look okay to leave the doors and that framing dark but paint the baseboard the same color as the walls.

      hi thanks for watching, this is a great question, I would paint the door trim and the baseboards and leave the doors only in the dark stain.

    What color and brand stain are on your floors. They are gorgeous.I recently had mine restained and they are a bit darker than I anticipated. They are a walnut which matches my kitchen island. I am getting used to them. I think when I bring the furniture and area rugs back in, it will be ok.
