Roger Glover and Ian Paice are the most underrated rhythm section in classic rock.

What I most admire in Glover's style is the crossing notes with others instruments. For exemple, with the keyboards or the guitar solo during the first minutes of Lazy.

I think Roger is a very humble player and leave space for Ian's excellent drums, and of course Jon/Don and Ritchie/Steve, he knows when to play and knows when not to play. But his playing is always solid and fit's Ian's drums very well.

Appreciated his playing (how can’t you?!), but TBH, never liked his tone…Plus, his runs seemed technically indulgent but just not that musical in the way I prefer it… all that said, I’d give my left nut to be able to play what he could play lol!!

Glover is underrated. Ive expected to see some Rainbows bass lines during their 80s era. Maybe "Eyes of fire" or "Danger zone"

Glover has never being in my list of my top players, but as a musician he is definitely one of the major architects of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal and one of least recognized ones as such. Purple has become thick and heavy in sound also thanks to him. It is easy to attribute all the merit to Blackmore, but Deep Purple without Glover is just not as heavy, regardless of Blackmore being in the band or not. Paice's implacable drumming and Lord's distorted organ also clearly had an impact on the general heaviness, but Glover was the defining factor. MKIII could still come up with heavy songs such as "Stormbringer" and "Burn", but they are "light" compared to how the band sounded with Glover. So, even though not one of the most impressive bass players around, he is still a good bassist that definitely knows how to embellish a song and contribute in a constructive way towards the final product with his playing.

i was just going to say that, also nick is very underrated, he played a different style tho during the mk1 era, more suited for 60s pop

Yes, but the line-ups with Glover extensively played it, so he had the chance to make a dent on it.

    2:17 Glenn's style is different.
And curious, what exactly does it mean "a better player"? Better in what? Speaking in terms of hard-rock, technically and melodically Roger is way better.
Please don't get me wrong, I adore Glenn's bass lines. But they are too different to compare.

Roger Glover is the reason i play bass.
When i heard Highway star I knew this is what I wanted
side note: Roger glover didn't play on Hush
Also i've never heard anybody say that Glenn Hughes is better then Roger, Personally I like both but Hughes is imo more simple

No, Glenn Hughes was not better than Roger. Glenn's a fantastic singer who happens to play bass... he was a bargain. But Roger's lines are beefier, more memorable, and probably what you're humming when a Deep purple song comes on. Jon Lord's been quoted as saying that sacking Roger was a terrible mistake, I think he was right.

It stinks ,not to bad it needs polishing . Your not a bad singer but go back and play bass and sing with another band sorry I have to be
    honest with you.
