Pro Guides a though you ment a buncha liers and scam (but no that's what they are and I have proof but it's 12:54 AM where I'm at so if you want it you can wait)
normally when I tell myself "I've got this, I can win" it's two or three times in the car before actually going into the venue. I also go into matches with big name players first or second round with the mentality of "If i can get a hit, I can take a stock. if I can take a stock, I can take a game. If I can take a game, I can take the set. if I can take the set, i can make top 8. if I can make top 8, I can win the tournament." I start small, and just work my way up from there.
On Saturday I was down two stocks against a Snake and it was the second game in a best of three. I just tried to relax and I brought him down to last stock last hit. I still lost but I felt good and that reminded me you shouldn't give up no matter how much of a lead your opponent has.
I matched against ZeRo on elite and had a mental breakdown(i was playing Hero and I think I got in one of his vids) and now I watched this, and i ended up matching him when ZeRo did the plant gang troll thing, and I ended up still getting nervous, but I didnt mentally die, so yay
I am one of those 0-2 every week guys you mentioned. I literally just went 0-2 again and I was shook. I walked outside the venue, heart pounding and doubts rising. I click RUclips on my phone and this video was at the top. I won't say it was magic but it honestly helped me in this moment. Sometimes I really do want to quit but for tonight at least, this video convinced me to keep struggling. Thanks.
Man your videos are SO good, it’s actually crazy how you always do exactly what players REALLY need, none of your videos are unuseful and it’s so great man!
Wow, man. I just wanted some smash tips to beat my friends with. I didnt expect to get some legit advice on fixing my crippling self esteem issues. Thanks man. Liked and subbed.
Hey man, no matter who's videos are flavor of the month for me, I always come back to yours. Your attitude, sense of humor, and ability to clearly define exactly what you're talking about is amazing. Your videos always make me excited to try out new stuff; no other smash content creator can get my head racing as much as yours, it's like you have the script for what I need to learn and when. You're awesome man, thanks for the content.
I love the thumbnail for this video, I main Incineroar and compeated in a tournament yesterday and was just destroyed. So my game is pretty burned but I don't want to change mains. I WANT THAT SWEET SWEET REVENGE GAME, but you know
Thanks for the video....It made me feel nice :). When you were talking about trying to get out of habits, I thought about how I noticed I always do a Nair out of shield or to approach...so when you said this is a way of improvement by noticing your mistakes, I was like yay I'm somewhat improving. Thanks again for the video!
Hey banana boy I just wanted to say us fans really appreciate your content and you help us out alot. Your videos have alot of heart and work put into them and you deserve way more subs and I can't wait for 50k
thanks banana boy this was really helpful for me and to others as well so keep up with the good work. good luck at crown okay. Work on your confidence.
This video is fantastic! I don't play competitively in Smash, but this video is still applicable in other things. It kind of reminds me of a piece of advice my favorite teacher gave us: Whenever you practice, always pretend like it's the real thing and go at it with 100% of what you have. Chances are, when a tournament or a presentation or whatever happens, you might get nervous, and you'll probably only perform at about 80% of what you can do. The more you practice though, the more likely you'll actually compete at the same level of effort you practice in!
As someone who started meditation when I started getting serious about playing games in tournaments semi competitively, meditation is damn near needed for me to do well and get into a good mindset.
ik I am a bit late, but somebody on reddit gave me the idea to have just one song to listen to when playing. I tried it recently and it makes me so much less ragey and more confident when playing in tourney. i used to listen to a playlist, but I found a comfort song to be way better.
Fake confidence has pretty much carried me through my entire life, especially in high school. It’s pretty bad, but fake it till you make it, at least in social situations seems to work out pretty well
*I kindly disagree about what you said about affirmations. Telling yourself over and over that you could do something could trick your brain into actually doing or it give you a higher chance of actually doing it.* Because thinking otherwise might make you limit your ability and thus make you not achieve your goal. But if you do believe in yourself, you will have a greater chance of getting that goal. You can totally trick yourself into having confidence.
Ya know, I found this video randomly in my recommendeds and all ur advice is honestly underrated and hardly talked about, it's great man. Also I'm a Yoshi main and it feels like they're so hard to find prevelant ones that's great And yes wooly Yoshi is p bad
To boost my confidence, I didn't do Elite Smash first. My main goal was getting to 9.9., first and foremost, since that objective was the first step on my Smash Ultimate to-do list. Once I beat that, I started to gain more and more confidence. Doing 9.9. first had taught me to never give up, no matter how hard things might be.
Here's a little anecdote. While playing some online I came across a sick Ganondorf. It was a for glory style match and that player still had all three stocks while I was whittled down to one. Somehow I eked out a comeback with a bit of luck and remaining calm. In short, you're right when you say that winning is entirely possible no matter what the situation may look like.
god this video is so good. Everything said here I can apply to my gameplay. I’ve only been to 3 weeklies but I’ve never gone 0-2. I actually went 2-2 at my most recent one and got a chance to play someone who was PR’d. they destroyed me, obviously, but it really got me exited for next week. I’m gonna be grinding for hours after this video.
For me when "that" happens I always try to think that the match isn't impossible to win still and I started analyzing my opponent harder than I did previously. Like I've made reverse 3 stocks happen just by doing those two things so it rly helps. Also great vid man, love ur stuff!
You're so right! I didn't even know about competitive smash when I played smash 4. And I used to never understand Yugioh at all! (Random example but its viable). Now I have so much more gaming confidence since I understand everything about Yugioh and played duel links competitively, and on the switch I play really good too. I also have both my mains Pit and Dark Pit in elite. I have a lot of gaming confidence because of this! It works!
lowkey that roy combo he showed early in actually is gonna help me a lot. I was wondering what i was doing wrong, guess you don't need to weave neutral jabs into it, and just yeet away with fair.
What he says is all true. And just knowing I'm on the right track really helps. I was out of my weekly's 0-2 every week. And with everything he said (I did all this without seeing this video I'm just confirming it) has happened. I went from low to getting 9th every week beating people I became nervous about or at least knowing I can win them next time.
And don't become over-confident, let your guard down and underestimate your rivals, or maybe sometimes you could have a bad time. Be honest, keep improving, concentrate, be analytical about yourself and the others, don't get mad and don't be frustrated when things don't go as expected.
I had to struggle to get into elite because I can't have a lan cable because I'm not routing it through the wall. So I had to deal with lag a lot. Most matches were good because I have pretty good WiFi, but some were like purgatory. It was hard, but I managed. Luigi number 1

5 tips to be confident in smash:
1. Take a shower
2. Wear clean clothes
3. Use antiperspirant
4. Brush your teeth
5. Brush your hair
doing this once a decade should be enough
