On Twitter, I saw the saddest post from a lesbian who was asking for advice, because she's in a relationship with a pre-op trans-woman, but she's not sexually aroused by her. At all. And she was saying 'what's wrong with me? Does anyone know why I might be feeling this way, we've tried everything!' And it made me so sad for her, because she felt like validating her girlfriend was more important than her own preferences. She genuinely couldn't wrap her head around the idea that some people just aren't attracted to penis, and that's okay, it doesn't make you a bigot.

I'm an old Christian lady. Straight & have never been attracted to another woman. I remember going on the app HER and talking to women, but there was a handful of “trans women” who kept harassing me and making new accounts to send me death threats because I didn’t want to enter relationships with them. Two of them called me transphobic for not wanting them to send me nudes. They drove me off an app I had hoped would be a safe lesbian space.
I left, too. Most of the people I came across were transwomen. I'm a masc top, and I like feminine women. Not transwomen who look masculine and don't try to pass. I got so tired of having next to no options besides them, so I just deleted my account. Now, they're banning women for speaking up and saying that they prefer bio women. And their Twitter is one of the most foul things I've seen. They're defending pedos, using nasty language to insult people who disagree with them and sending people notifications on their phones like, "A Message for Transphobes: Time to delete the app. Don't let the door hit you on the way out." I'm not transphobic, but I'm not attracted to most transwomen. So according to them, I'm a transphobe who doesn't belong on their app even though trying to force people to date and sleep with people they aren't attracted to comes off as predatory. And they're being praised for it.

Dating a trans person comes with baggage that cis people simply don't have. Psychological issues like dysphoria, physical issues like inability to reproduce as your gender. Physical attraction is only one facet of a relationship. An important one, certainly, but not the sole basis for people's preferences.

I get so frustrated as a lesbian most people that are “lesbian” on tinder look like this. I did try to just accept it and be ok with it but it was low key traumatizing. Edit: this blew up overnight a little and I woke up to all these notifications oh boy. It doesn't matter what the reason is - you don't even NEED to present a reason. I'm a liberal straight male, and I have to agree with you that these more extreme liberal viewpoints are not logically sound. You, Blair, are an attractive woman to me. These two look like men, even if they identify as women. I have no issue with them identifying as women but they have no right to expect me to find them attractive. No woman does either.
The thing is that for those people, you have to prove to them explicitly that your claim of finding them not attractive is specific, and not against trans people or non binary in general. Wish I would have found this a while ago. When I was back into the dating scene after a long marriage, I found out how hard it was as a bisexual woman. I had to call the police on a person who threatened to mutilate my genitals if I saw them in public because I refused to date them. They also had their friends messaging me and threatened to leave me bloody in a ditch because I was a transphobic terf. I told them point blank - it has nothing to do with your gender and everything to deal with you and your friends being psychopaths. Then there were the people that tried to tell me I was non-binary or pansexual...No, just No. I disengaged from the Tinder platform. I thought dating was bad in my 20s, now it's just scary. I'm glad I met someone and happily married now because I think I'd rather be alone than deal with that, honestly scary BS ever again.

Lol I’m currently dating a trans woman and if she tried to say I was transphobic when we were first flirting, I would’ve dumped her then and there. You don’t get to pressure people into sleeping with you regardless of who you are.
"I do not consent." That should shut down everything, because you don't get the privilege of knowing why I do not consent. That's none of your business. If I say "No", that's the end of the conversation.
