Hello, I've seen a lot of comments on here asking us to change the title of this video so I thought i'd address it. We chose the World Record story as the title as we felt that that story had the widest appeal to the general public and therefore more people would see Craig's important message about the impact of PTSD. I've spoken with Craig, he's completely happy with the title and the content of the video. He's also been touched by the support he has received in this comment section. We're going to be filming an update video with Craig in the coming months so watch this space. If you want to support Craig you can donate to his Survivor School here: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/maverick-survival-school
He gave everything, his whole life, he literally ruined himself for his country, he broke his brain, and it took them 30 minutes to say "you are crazy" and kicked him out of the service. People like him need professional support and medical help once they are out of the service, a medal means nothing. They deserve free 24/7 professional support and help, that's the least of what they deserve. I'm glad this guy made it out alive, he's lucky to have a great wife, not everyone has that. Oh and please change that title, the video should be called "Ex-sniper talks about PTSD and the horrors of war".
We all know this stamp out is the best "thank you for your service" we ever had. we don't need medals or words. we look each other in the eye and we know.
The title needs changing to PTSD and what the fk we gonna do about it..asafp. 250 soldiers have left us in last hree years .not a joke any more change all your minds on videos and bigger picture

This man is one of many, I know some that couldn’t handle the thoughts of what we’ve seen and endured. In America we get help for the sleepless nights, the paranoia, the mood swings, I know many that paid the ultimate sacrifice, many of my brothers from my own unit, the worst for me was in Fallujah, after the tanks did what they do, we had to go into the city, block by block, guys getting hit right next to you, I take Diaz Paem every day, I understand this guys situation and will pray for him and all those that have been to war.
@Hy Yem. Some of you guys are real pieces of shit. I don't agree with our wars, But I'm only 1 man. This man and scores just like him sign up truly believing they are protecting and serving their countrymen. They are willing to kill and tote the trauma that comes with it... for you and me. I appreciate this man and the millions around the world like him. Only because he has sacrificed so goddamn much. I don't have to agree with him on the how and why, I just know they do it for their country, and it's one hell of a job our countries ask of them. You guys should learn to get past your fucking ideologies and learn to see people for who they are. I think you'll find the world isn't such a terrible place. This man deserves much better than what he got. The least we can do is not condemn him for doing what he was led to believe was his civic duty.
It takes an incredible amount of courage to sit in front of a camera and open up so much, for the entire world to see. To talk about the horrors you've witnessed, the consequences of PTSD, even the embarrassing ones. I have nothing but respect for him. @Games 123 Generally Veterans don't view themselves as "hero's". There are those that do heroic things. There are those that make sacrifices above and beyond in the service to others. There are those who lose their lives while trying to save another. We always know, no matter how much we've given. There are always others who gave more. There are people in my eyes I would call hero The mother who will starve so her child can eat. The father who will work until he drops to provide for his family. The oldest sister who almost died of starvation, so that her two younger siblings didn't starve. . The man who removed a bomb strapped to a child. Only to have it explode while he was trying to move it safely away. He didn't know this child. But he saved him, while it cost him his life. A woman who offered herself up in hopes of keeping her daughter from being raped.

My dad died of suicide, I’m so glad Craig didn’t do it! Such a brave and honest interview, you can see the thoughts running through his mind watching it al over again, cried the whole way through😢 I hope Craig is still doing well
For anyone interested, Craig wrote an autobiography called "The Longest Kill". It's an incredibly well written book that goes through all of his experiences in the army and after leaving. I highly recommend it to anyone who sees this.
Its not the longest kill though considering the longest shot is over a KM longer than his held by a Canadian soldier from Canadas JTF-2 SF. 3,540m or 3.54km. Craigs shot was 2475m or 2.47km he ended up at the time beating another Canadian fellows record of 2430m. Canadians hold 3 of the top 5 longest shots the other 2 are this guy in the video at number 3 and in 2nd place an Aussie whos name is withheld

It was thr title that had me fooled. Watched the whole interview and i would not hesitate to sit down with this lad and buy him a few beers. A class act.
It’s cold and matter of fact, I had some crazy old colonel doctor. Discharged me on the spot, all my mukkas were on leave, never got to say goodbye or anything. Just a train ticket. Next day I left for home and that was the end of my military career.
Being someone who has served with Craig "Trench" Harrison he is the calmest, considered person I have ever worked with! The guy is a Hero and a Legend!
Please tell Craig how much I admire not only his honesty but the real emotion and caring he showed about his job. I thought snipers must be cold and heartless, but Craig is a real man. A human being who is a true hero. God bless him.
If there is any way you could contact him, he needs a "pier" to help him deal with the anguish... Not a Doctor, not a counselor but somebody who has been there and knows his pains, can understand where his head is... He needs your hand reaching out to him, do the right thing... Reach out....
If the chap in the interview ever reads this, No u are a hero and people should look up to u and respect u. We all owe men like yourself a lot. Stay strong.
He doesn't want to be called a hero and you should respect that. Not everyone who is put in a position where they have to kill another human being, understanding what that means, wants to be put on a pedestal for it and romantized for it. Its just not right. The entire situation is sad. What you get from this video shouldnt be "damn what a hero!". @@PriyanshuSharma-ey3bc To be fair, that may just be the way it felt to him because all he knew for the prior 20 years was military service. The guy was deemed unfit for duty (rightfully so) and likely got a high disability rating with retirement. What an absolute inspiration! No words can describe the pain and remorse this legend feels. He shouldn’t feel remorseful as it was to save his country and save lives, he’s a real life superhero and a film on his story would be another way of thanking him for his service.

I hope you’re doing better now and are getting help. Your son is always gonna need you. I have a similar attempt story to Craig’s- all my pets followed me to where I was going to do it. 4 dogs, 2 cats and a horse just stared at me and I couldn’t bare the thought of them being scared by the sound of the shot. So I hurried back to the house to put the gun away before my boyfriend got back home - I had timed it so that it wouldn’t take long to find me. That was 20 yrs ago and I’ve struggled everyday and attempted a few times since then but I’m glad it didn’t end like that then. The times when Ive got back to that point again, Ive thought about every detail of the reality of the aftermath. What it will do to everyone who has to deal with what I’ve done, what happens to my pets is one that really gets me as I live alone now. That snaps me out of it.

Must be difficult to deal with this. Sometimes I kill an ant by an accident and I feel about it, let alone a human person.
I noticed that too, the excitement of the achievement (which truly is incredible) vs the realisation that his world record required someone, a son, father, husband, to die. He's carrying around alot of pain.
Was a good kill. Was an excellent kill! If you can't convince them that their religion is oppressive, bigoted, and violent then kill them first. No remorse. Islam is evil.
anyone who goes out of their way to travel to another country and kill the people there just trying to protect their land and families should be upset !!!!!!!!!
He is a killer. He's been hired by his government to go and kill people. I get the armies are required to protect countries, but if you look at the history of the British Army, how often has it been the aggressor? Just look at the British Empire - it was built on the British invading other countries. And, whilst there many have been a few legitimate cases of the Army acting as a defence force, for the most part, I would say this isn't necessarily the case. Those who took part in WWII, as well as those who served in the Army due to conscription, are different to those who have enlisted in recent decades, especially in the 21st Century. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who signs up knows what they're getting into (potentially). Increasingly, I find it hard to distinguish between terror groups and national armies. In fact, I was reading about the topic a few months ago (when looking into definitions for "terrorism"), and it was interesting to see what a delicate topic it can be to define "terrorism". For example, if you word it badly, then the actions of certain governments/armies (e.g. those of the British) may fall under the definition of terrorism. Likewise, certain so-called "bad actors" may be excluded if the definition is not wide enough - e.g. the Taliban. I grew up a bigger supporter of the armed forces, but based on what I've said, in recent years I've seen it as a big murky grey area. And I find the (often unconditional) support that people give to members of the armed forces a bit disturbing. The UK in particular seems to be following the US in regarding servicemen and women as untouchable heroes. Just look at the public outcry any time potential crimes are unearthed that were potentially committed by British (or other) armed forces - e.g. the murder/torture/rape of people. Regardless of whether you think someone is a hero or not, if they've committed a crime (especially a serious one), they should be brought to justice - and not exonerated simply because they chose to put on a uniform. As for someone like this, it's right not to celebrate him simply because he's a killer. The fact he feels no pride in extinguishing a life is good - but he should feel shame.
I understand what he means about the dog saving his life. I had a period in my life that I was suicidal. I lived with my mum and dad at the time. I woke up one day and felt i couldn't take it anymore. I waited for my mum and dad to leave and when they did I decided I'd go and end it. At the time we had a Rottweiler, the one in the picture, and she was really obedient dog you'd tell her to do something and she would do straight away. And on this day as I was going to leave she sat in front of the front door and would not move. I shouted at her and tried to pull her away but she still wouldn't move. I looked at her and realised she knew there was something wrong with me. I realised at that point that while my mum and dad and sisters and their families would understand my dog never would do. I feel she knew somehow what I was going to do and she wanted to help me. She literally saved my life that day. I just hugged her and cried for about an hour and then I felt a little bit better. If anyone is having any trouble with mental health issues, please talk to someone. You won't be laughed at or mocked or looked at in disgust you will be helped I promise you. No issues are ver too trivial or minor.
No matter how many jokes we Americans may crack about the Brits and vice versa, we are still friends in this day and age and I appreciate your service sir. I'm very glad you found the strength to keep fighting. I've been suicidal before and checked myself into a mental hospital before I could make that decision. You're a true fighter and even though you don't know me, I'm proud of you.
@fUck eRy you really cant say that cus it's one of those things that you can't predict your feelings for until you actually do it, especially since at the end of the day, terrorist's are still human and it's not good for the human psyche to kill another
@fUck eRy It's easy not to humanize the concept of a "terrorist", cuz the concept is not a person, it's just a bad guy. But when you're actually in the situation, you realize that no matter what label you wanna put on people, they are YOU, they are humans with families and loves and fears and everything. With the exception of true psychopaths, no human can kill another human and feel okay with it, no matter what that human believed or did.

It doesn't matter if you're being genuine or just baiting, saying someone is pathetic for having PTSD and getting upset over a very emotional video which he related to is just disgusting. You do not know how your words could affect someone. Guys like this make me proud to be British, we have hero's like this fighting for us. This channel has given us a chance to hear his story. This is what makes us human. By the end of this video I wanted to hug the lad and thank him. I only wish him the best.

@@harryjay4555 right but theres no need to add an apostrophe because there’s no omission is there. Also the fact this guy was brainwashed enough to actually kill people for people who will never know/care for him and for a country with a horrible colonial past gives you hope? bit weird. Also in addition to that he has to spend the rest of his life trying his best to overcome those experiences. You could be proud to be human for his ability to carry on and try his best to overcome - you should never be proud to be british though (because its that exact nationalism that lands us in these situations) unless youre brainwashed of course which is completely understandable
I’m a 10th Mtn Div Vet... When others talk about PTSD and suicidal behavior, it’s satisfying to know your not alone. NO ONE can really sympathize unless they have been in the military. Thank you for your story, a lot of US are out here. EMOTIONAL SUPPORT PETS ARE A MUST!!!
I would disagree, I think anyone who’s lived through conflict- be it military or civilians, can relate to the resulting mental anguish. Even as a daughter to parents who were both involved in a war- I can sympathise with soldiers stories. I’ve lived through conflict too and have really bad mental health probs and a history of suicide attempts- one time that was similar to what Craig described in the video. Anyone who’s attempted suicide knows what that moment is like. I know soldiers share a bond - but isolating yourselves even more by believing nobody else would understand can be detrimental to finding your way to back to normal life.

I feel really sorry for these veterans. You can see that they may still be alive but their soul is dead on the inside. Huge respect to these heroes for sacrificing themselves.
Yep. We -as a society- send men and women to fight ‘our’ wars and then -when they get back home- we leave them basically to rot from the inside out. That is how we thank them.
He deserves a film. But not like American sniper that focuses more on the action but a film that is equally balanced in its attention with the trauma he has faced from war and his PTSD. That is an Oscar-winning film. Someone make it!
This won't find the support from the army nor government. Now the UK isn't the USA but I'm guessing governments and armies are the same, in which they don't want to make a movie that puts soldiers who are strong on the outside and on the battlefield but dead inside when they return home on the big screen for our entertainment. I mean look at the movie 'Hacksaw Ridge' if you haven't seen it, sure good guy who had helped many of his men, but a hell of a lot of propaganda, that probably got all the help from the government and army to make it all possible. I think I've heard that the movie 'Jarhead' didn't receive so much support because the movie wanted to show how soldiers are when deployed.

You think the guy is tough looking at his huge tattooed arms and hearing about his record kill shots, but then he opens up about his battle with PTSD and you realize how tough he really is. That is inspiring.
Yeah people often think that it only affects what in their minds are "weaker" people. But it can affect literally everyone, no matter where they were born, their culture, or anything else.
@@timdeathly yeah, it changes how you rationalize whether you like it or not. It’s like you become a different person, and you want to revert back but forgot what it’s like to feel normal. You literally become a destructive, nihilistic, zombie version of yourself. You want to change bad, but can’t make consistent progress. There’s no motivation, those things don’t matter anymore unfortunately. Again, you don’t have a choice, it takes over. The worst part is that the only healing you can do is within, you can be sedated or off whatever meds you prefer, but you won’t get any actual progress unless it clicks in your head. It can come from the therapist rewording something and now you look at it differently. I thank every soldier who put their life on the line for mine.

@@DJDay_mo it's about a man who was brain washed by the government to kill people, right? Is it that one?
7:20 You can see on his face how enthusiastic and excited he is while talking about his achievement of acquiring a target at that long distance, he gets carried away talking, and then the part at 7:26 the realization that he actually hit a guy/human person, his face changes completely, raised brows dropped down, and that sad expression.

@@Revelian1982 exactly!!!!
But yet can still do a whole interview about it..

@fUck eRy you really cant say that cus it's one of those things that you can't predict your feelings for until you actually do it, especially since at the end of the day, terrorist's are still human and it's not good for the human psyche to kill another

Guys like this make me proud to be British, we have hero's like this fighting for us. This channel has given us a chance to hear his story. This is what makes us human. By the end of this video I wanted to hug the lad and thank him. I only wish him the best.
*heroes FFS
snap out of it man... what level of clueless delusion is this? Were you even listening to the guy??? "Heroes" ffs get a grip
Cause I say hero's I don't mean people in capes. I mean people who save others, the planet, people we can look up to, people who give us hope and they can teach us something. Some people call them hero's, I do, if you don't like it well I aren't going to lose sleep over it.
We're not from the same country but thank you for your service. I hope youre doing ok
I was hurt before I had to fulfill my service. That alone kills me but I agree. It helps to hear i am not alone in feeling some sort of broken
I would disagree, I think anyone who’s lived through conflict- be it military or civilians, can relate to the resulting mental anguish. Even as a
daughter to parents who were both involved in a war- I can sympathise with soldiers stories.
@@gretahunt4401 very true statement.
@@gretahunt4401 Military and Civilian are VERY DIFFERENT. Knowing someone who served IS NOT THE SAME. NORMAL LIFE???? EVERYONE has an OPINION, EVERYONE has not been trained to kill for their country...
This is heavy, my brother is still in, he's been there 20 years this year, I can see him change ever time he comes home, it breaks your heart
Hope he's doing good. Strength to you and him :)
@@d_evil075 Thank you so much, he's now out of active combat unless he is really needed, he has a martial arts company in the army and he trains the troops and also local children
@@travelwithtray7179 glad to hear that,have a great day :)
@@d_evil075 You too ✌️
@Bryce F he's alot better now after getting help but he was very angry, distant and overall very serious which he wasn't before
This is the most realist sobering shit you'll see. This MAN. Damn.
he went thousands miles away from their country to destroy Taliban government and imposed an american puppet government in afghanistan
the last 5 mins made me cry
total respect to all who serve need looking after i think we all agree on that
This man is real. Authentic. Honest. He has a heart. A great man. We need you to stay alive Craig and your message to continue. This message helps us be better people for a better planet.
His story is not the first nor the last.
@@lolome1448 your point, besides to be annoying?
I feel really sorry for these veterans. You can see that they may still be alive but their soul is dead on the inside. Huge respect to these heroes for sacrificing themselves.
Just because he doesnt smile all over the place doesnt mean that he "lost" his soul.
@@cream2257 Did you even watch the video? He almost commited suicide because he is depressed and has PTSD. SMH
Similar movie Jarhead
a similar film titled "Thank You For Your Service"
@@postreroleumell.5082 jarhead is weak
This won't find the support from the army nor government. Now the UK isn't the USA but I'm guessing governments and armies are the same, in which they don't want to make a movie that puts soldiers who are strong on the outside and on the battlefield but dead inside when they return home on the big screen for our entertainment.
I mean look at the movie 'Hacksaw Ridge' if you haven't seen it, sure good guy who had helped many of his men, but a hell of a lot of propaganda, that probably got all the help from the government and army to make it all possible. I think I've heard that the movie 'Jarhead' didn't receive so much support because the movie wanted to show how soldiers are when deployed.
a similar movie called "shut the fuck up" and enjoy the programme
Omg this made me cry!! Bless his heart … this was the most genuine conversation ever. I hope he gets the help he needs and genuinely wants.
I started crying when he was talking about how his dog saved his life
What about the part when he told his wife he loved her when he thought he was gonna die
When he said his dog tilted his head too...
I have 2 Yorkshire’s as well, they always give joy
IM NOT CRYING, U ARE !
