Hey Afrodisiacs! Thumbs up this video for all the honesty and realness lol! 💯 Also, please let me know in the comments what other "This Is What High Porosity Hair Looks Like" videos that you'd like to see me do next. Love y'all! 😘
Thanks for the informative videos. The recorded audio in your videos seems to be louder than the actual sound in the video itself. I have to reduce the volume when the recorded part is slotted in your video clips. Please check on this as it is frequent in most of your videos.
I thought I was the only one who hear their hair when it’s dry. Your videos helped me grow my hair and mostly helped me realize I have high porosity hair instead of low. I thought I was low porosity hair for the longest.
@@mstamalaj aloe vera causes my scalp to itch unless I shampoo it out. Then it's back to the tangles in the conditioning step. Even when I shampoo in sections. I've given up in fully detangling. I prepoo detangle and I dont try to detangle after that. Any knots I just get the scissors, I can't even. If the knot is at the root then I slowly pull as many strands out that I can of the knot until it's only a couple of strands left then I cut it out
I listen to my hair too! Normally my hair makes a rustling sound but when it’s dry it sounds like a plastic bag and that’s when I know I need to wash or refresh.
The struggle is real, but I do realize my HP hair holds on to Moisture when I keep my twists or braids in for a week or a little more when I'm lazy.👀🙈🤦🏾♀️. Mixing Aloe juice with my water in a spray bottle helps big time too. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Rochelle!! Yes, those knots/tangles can be a nightmare to get through. When I know that I'm not going to be able to wash my hair & it's old, I do the dry twist out asap - that way my hair will at least be stretched (less tangles forming)
I feel like I’m the only high porosity person that doesn’t have issues with tangling. My hair only gets tangled or matted when it’s been in a protective style for a long time.
What has been working for my dry and tangle hair is washing it every 4 to 5 days and stretching my roots with low heat blowdryer, don't let it get to super dry or tangle point. Now i experience less tangles, less breakage and less hair shedding.
@@luzdelalbasanz Yeah I’ve been doing this for a couple months now. My scalp starts flaking on day four and by the beginning of day 5 it’s over for my scalp and it needs to be washed again. My hair is definitely more manageable, my scalp health superb ( I also started oiling my scalp with the Mane Choice Growth Oil every wash day) and my curl definition and moisture lasts through the next wash day too. I do find though I need to alternate my shampoos though one being more cleansing and the other more gentle so I’m not stripping my hair dry with 2 washes in 8-10 days. I also need to make sure I’m not using too much protein back to back wash days to maintain my protein moisture balance. Have you experienced or noticed anything like this with your hair?
@@PreppyFay12 yes, I also suffer from dandruff, now that I wash my every 4-5 days, I don't have that problem anymore and yes I also alternate between a deep cleansing and a mild shampoo like (curls blueberry bliss) or cowash with (as i am coconut cowash). A scalp massage with oil before a deep cleansing sounds like a great idea to soothe an itchy scalp. 😊
@@luzdelalbasanz Glad we could fellowship and learn from each other in the comments. Yeah I never used to pull my scalp because I thought it’d only exasperate my scalp flaking but honestly between washing more frequently and oiling my flakes are way smaller and my scalp still flakes but doesn’t itch thus I don’t scratch and cause scalp sores

Thanks soo much for ur videos. Just came across it n I'm now positive my hair is high porosity. I did oil treatment overnight for two wash days n I have seen difference. My hair loves it. Thanks to u I now know what to do to keep it always happy
Hey love thanks so much for this video! For three years I thought I was low porosity. It could’ve changed since then but the noise comment was on point lol 😂 recently I looked at my hair in the mirror after doing some light oiling and I instantly noticed the difference. I realized my hair is limp when it needs moisture. I always thought it was low because of the hair water test.
Hi Khadisia! Your hair refresh looked lovely! I definitely can relate to this video and yes, I heard your hair! 😅 Thanks for the product recommendation, never heard of the CR Brown Butter pomade. Will check the CR website. 🥰
Ak, hi wash takes a little longer, but it's worth it! Thanks to you I pre-poo on Friday night right after work. I too pull at the nape sometimes 😣, try protective styles more often, since you're so busy. Dullness is a part of my hair :( , I love avacodo oil. I deep conditioning and detangled and still tangle, I style and it's tangle again 😣, so I agree with your video❤️ keep up the good work 😍
Hi Annette! ❤️ Thank you so much for sharing all of your helpful tips with me. How have you been liking the overnight pre-poo so far?! Yeah, that's the thing! My wash day has to be planned the night before because of my overnight pre-poo and I have to know for sure that I'm free the following day. I'm really considering getting box braids.🤔
I really appreciated this video. My youngest daughter has high porosity hair and its been tough managing it. Thanks for the styling tips and product options.
Lately I have been applying a little of my styling cream (obia) not separating just scrunching it into my hair after a shower throughout the week and my hair lasted way longer.Oil lubricates and that may cause hair to be less defined. your twist out looks so pretty.
I agree, using an oil or silicone serum which is basically a non-greasy lab made oil lessens my definition as it doesn’t allow my hair to hold as much as without it but I just deal with having a tad bit less definition to have more hold and lasting power due to the silicone serum decreasing the frizz in my hair and repelling frizz for longer.
Love it I always wondered why my natural hair was so stiff. I hate to just weight it down with gel and water all the time. Thank you for sharing. Your hair looks so nice!! ❤️
Stiff what, stiff where stiff here. That dry stiffness is real that’s when I know it needs a whole refresh unless I can wash it that night. I usually try and assess my hair every night to make sure it doesn’t get too dry because my hair already breaks easily, especially when it’s dry so I have to make sure to keep the balance even if it’s not the full wash and condition it needs. Also same my hair looks black on wash day and first couple days post wash and then it looks dull and brown by the end. I used to be confused what my hair color was.
Thanks AK for sharing, this is such a relatable video. I actually experimented with refreshing as well with using the Carol's Daughter's Marguerites Magic I don't necessarily need another product to add on top because depending on how much I used initially I can still feel the product still in my hair and a spritz of water will do the trick or if my hair is dry dry a hint more leave-in and I bantu knot her up and then out the next day.
You are so welcome girl! ☺️ I'm glad you thought it was relatable. How often do you refresh with Marguerite's Magic? When my hair was really short I used to re-twist nightly following the lco method (marguerite's magic was my cream). My hair takes longer to dry now thats why I like the dry twist out method so much for refreshing.
@@AfroKhadisiac Yeah I refresh once a week usually at the end of day 3 and then Bantu knot out the next morning. My hair is usually dry in time I’m just shy of not being able to get away with it so for now I’m going to enjoy the length and short time it takes for my hair to dry.
Great video....so relatable. How often do you protein treat? Focusing on protein treatments this year...to smooth out my cuticles and try to prevent tangles and splitting
Can you help me? I think I have high porosity. My roots are super frizzy and don't take a curl pattern but my ends are clumped and curled? What do I do? I'm so lost I just wanna relax my hair ugh

Here in ny the weather is nuts cold then hot. Great tips thanks
You play with your nape, I play with my edges 😢 the front...but am making a conscious decision to keep my hands off by tying a scarf especially when am home
Wow, we do the opposite 🙉 That's a great idea Jacky. Sometimes ill keep my scarf on in the house too. Also, something else that I do is take my scarf out hrs before going to bed. So if I find myself manipulating my nape, I can just grab the scarf and put it on. Then ill usually get up and moisturize/seal/twist the areas. Having the scarf nearby helps me to control the situation. It's really hard to break any habit, but at least we are aware that we do it. Now we just have to continue to make conscious efforts to stop. 💗
Hey Lovina, I prefer detangling on dry hair with Coconut oil. The slip from the oil really helps to get through my tangles. Ultimately, it's totally up to you and your hair. Whatever works best!!
Omg!! I thought I was crazy. I've been hearing my hair as i lift with the pick trying to create volume. My hair tangles at the roots with wash n gos. (I'm still trying to learn how to do those.) Any tips on this ??
I have high po hair and I do wash n gos. When you detangke your hair, make sure you detangle the roots and also apply gel to the roots. I prefer hard hold gels because they prevent my hair from tangling. When i use soft hold gels my hair tangles. Also you can try stretching your hair at the root as long as you're okay loosing definition at the root. I hope this helps
