    I use a rice water rinse on my high porosity hair every one to two weeks and I have seen a difference in retaining length probably because there is protein in rice. My hair type is genetic my mom, sister and I all have fine hair. I big chopped twice and my texture never changed. I follow L.O.C method and I've experienced no issues with retaining moisture. I also use aloe vera juice mixed with essential oils and vegetable glycerin my hair loves that as well. I wear afro puffs most of the time and re twist my hair every night to keep tangles away.

    OMG! this was so refreshing! i've been saying forever my hair is not damaged! i was born this way! Thank You! i can identify with almost everything you stated! fine strands, low to medium density, acv and aloe vera juice or gel are bae! i use a light protein every wash day - ors hair mayo and my hair LOVES ayurvedic herbs, particularly fenugreek and amla (i do make a henna & rose gloss bar i use occasionally). my go to styling preference is the LCnoO - i only use oils sparingly and my hair hates coconut oil and my go to style is the Side Show Bob! WOW! i would call you my natural hair sister, but i think i'm a bit older than you! maybe i'm your natural hair auntie! LOL~ love your channel! the best high porosity info on RUclips!

    I keep my hair covered 90% of the time and I use only natural products. My hair is high porosity due to genetics. I'm 16 mos post big chop.
    Raw honey and glycerin helps my hair retain moisture.
    The only protein it likes is honey and a little coconut oil.

    I have thick 3c/4a hair with high porosity. My hair is NOT damaged. I don’t blow dry my hair too lazy to do that. My hair soaks up moisture quickly. I can be in a pool and soon as I get out within 30 mins. My hair is bone dry. But then again my skin also repels moisture. I guess that’s just my body. I’m also having a problem with my kidneys. I can drink ALOT of water and my urine will be dark brown TMI. I eventually will go to a doctor about it.

    The porosity test that everyone tells you to do made me think that I had low porosity hair. It wasn't until I talked to an actual stylist and then listened to this video describing my hair exactly that I now realize that I have high porosity hair. What an eye opener! Thank you for this video. I will be listening to your others.

    Coconut oil and aloe vera juice have definitely increased how my hair maintains moisture. Even when I don't buy the actual bottle of aloe vera juice, the products that I use in my hair contain aloe vera juice in them. I definitely have to trim more often as well. Waiting 6 months I would eventually have to trim a lot, which happened in my first year being natural. Now I dust my ends while in twists every 6-8 weeks, and then every 6 months I reshape my hair.

    So many videos later, and finally getting answers from various presenters. I went through a lot of hair breakage as a result. The opposite of the results I wanted for my high porosity hair. 22nd Century woman says to use a light protein treatment for high porosity hair. I also know when you use a protein treatment, you must also find a moisturizing product. Lastly, high porosity tends to have hydra fatigue, too much moisture and literally clumps of beautiful curls break off if I have too much water. Right now I tried for the first time pure aloe vera mixed in the blender and sealed with castor oil. I will try my second treatment this week. Alot of trial and error on this natural hair care journey.

    Finally found a natural hair twin (kinda) on here! Also have relatively fine, high porous hair of a similar curl pattern to you. I've always been 'natural' and had high porosity hair but I've wanted to ask if you find that the things that are ideal for our hair porosity, really amplify how fine the hairs are?
    For example, protective styles that clump strands like (natural) twists braids are great but because of the ''fineness' of our strands, they make our hair look even finer/borderline thin *especially* when layering products etc. Something I'm still trying to grasp and navigate yearsss into this journey of learning how to care for my hair!
    Do you have any insight at all/can you relate?

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  6 лет назад +1

      Hi!! I'm happy you found me! To answer your question, I feel like styles such as twists & braids are great for clumping the hair together. It can look thin/fine if it isn't picked out enough however. I get the same look with my wash n gos if I don't pick it out good. I use a pick for all my hairstyles & that really helps to bring fullness back into my hair. I hope that helps & answers your question.

    • @xXSweetAsHoneyXx
      @xXSweetAsHoneyXx 6 лет назад

      Afro Khadisiac thank you for replying! I often find that a pick causes some matting for me nearer the roots. Do you experience the same at all?

    Yaaasss DIVA you touched on so many important facts in this video that will help folks no matter what their hair porosity happens to be. You know I'm a lazy natural so with all this hair, ain't never known no official wash, and go. Still you've said something that I've always considered. Wash, and goes aren't protective in the least bit. Plus most of those that I do see utilize this style repeatedly. Happen to also be those that don't really use brushes, and combs. For me it's more important to make sure that I CAN comb thru, and detangle my entire mane. Even tho I have quite a bit of, I also don't shampoo it in sections, because that's just another strange thing to me. If your hair is really managed then there is no reason to have to do this. If I went to my beautician, and she began to section off my mane, before a shampoo. I would wonder what in Hades is she about to do???

    I use a protein deep conditioner on top of my moosturing conditioners once a week or every two weeks. How do I know when it's too much? Thanks for all of these videos. You've always spoken about porosity, not many RUclips's do this.

  • @micheled3760

    Hi AK. I agree with what you said about conditioners not staying on for longer than 10-15 minutes. My hair can become mushy if I derp condition for moisture too often & too long. I'm also surprised that coconut oil works well. Great advice and video.

    I know this video is 2 years old, but I’m high porosity and I don’t have to trim my ends frequently. I only have to trim mines every 5 months. Not 4 or 6. I think a lot of us would have high porosity hair, but experience different permeability. Like, my high porosity hair did not like the Shea Moisture high porosity line, but it loved the low porosity line. 🤷🏿‍♀️

    Excellent info on HP hair. I'm still learning about HP. Sometimes I feel that my hair changes in regards to HP hair...mmmm is it possible for hair to change porosity levels? Help!

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  6 лет назад

      MyNaturalMyChoice Thank you Evelyn! 💓 Yes that's possible. Your hair can change from normal Porosity or low Porosity to high Porosity. Technically high Porosity hair is "damaged" so any type of damage to the cuticle can make your hair more porous. High Porosity hair can't go back to normal or low though. Once it's "damaged" that's it. Your regimen will have to revolve around using products that help temporarily repair the hair or you can cut it. However if your high Porosity hair is hereditary that won't help lol 💕💕

    Hi, AK.
    👍 What's your fav shampoo for HP hair?
    Bentonite clay is bomb. Must restock on that, aloe vera juice, & KKKT. Have you tried the Thick & Curly Tangle Teezer for afro hair? Speaking of ayurvedic, have you checked out the DYIs on Curly Proverbz channel? I'm in the process of getting ayervedic powders including henna so I can do some of her DYIs.

      S. Jones Hey! 👋🏾Well since my favorite Shea Moisture shampoo has different ingredients now & no longer works (refer to my previous video) I'm actually on the hunt for a good Sulfate free shampoo that's not from Shea Moisture. As for the tangle teezer I have tried one before. It was during my first yr being natural & it gave me split ends! Not sure why. Maybe my hair has just been anti brushes from the very beginning lol. ; I love Curly Proverbs channel. I made her Henna tea spray before but that's it. I'll definitely go back and check out her other recommendations

      It's actually super moisturising because the clay clumps the curls for definition and the ACV smooths the cuticles which adds shine and increases moisture retention as they aren't raised and right open for moisture to evaporate out of ✨

      I agree with the comments Donnique! But I can't speak on Rhassoul Clay because I haven't tried it. With Bentonite Clay make sure you add an oil to your mix. I use like a tablespoon (or a little more lol) of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It looks drying but adding oil helps. Also apply a plastic bag on top to keep your hair moist with the mixture. Lastly, do follow up with a deep conditioner. I definitely wouldn't skip that step.

      Babee DoLL Hey! For oils you might want to light oils. Maybe coconut, olive or Avocado. Ive heard a lot of great things about Avocado oil. As for Protein treatment suggestions my favorite is called Nothing But Intense Healing Mask. ORS Hair Mayo is also great

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Manillo! You can try a twist out or braid out. Those are perfect styles because you can wear them as is for a day or two then wear them out. The goal is to choose a hairstyle thats going to reduce the amount of tangles you get.

    hey AK can you help me? my hair is constantly matted at the roots and idk why. I don't use a comb on my hair bc the bottom part of my hair is really fragile and damaged so it breaks off really easy. I think my hair is HiPo but I tried the sm hp masque a couple weeks ago and my hair felt very strong and it was really shiny but I felt like I needed to follow up with another treatment, beause my hair didn't feel moisturized enough. I haven't used coconut oil in a while but when I did use it I liked it because it made my hair soft and gave it some hold.

    • @PUNKGIRLrock24
      @PUNKGIRLrock24 6 лет назад

      Anne Cuthers what kind damage does hair have? My roots to matt alot but once I started thought detangle (with my fingers) in small sections shingle out the knots. Use condition and oil for xtra slip. Twist or braid section up when finish to the hair doesn't retangle. Might have go through eith wide tooth comb to get all hair out just use alot conditioner. Strength your hair with protein and make sure your DC helps also

    • @annecuthers5723
      @annecuthers5723 6 лет назад

      PunkGirlRock its not heat damage bc I haven't used heat in years. I guess its a sort of mechanical damage but all I know is the last 4-6 inches of my hair is extremely rough,dry, full of single strand knots and hard to detangle. It also seems to be a tighter texture than the hair that is undamaged.The knots at my roots seemed to be locked into place and everytime I use a product my hair doesn't agree with my roots immediately tangle and its so hard to pull apart without breaking off strands so I kind of give up and settle for half detangled hair. Thanks for replying I should probably use smaller sections, use the conditioner and oil and have more patience. At what steps of your routine do you detangle?

    • @PUNKGIRLrock24
      @PUNKGIRLrock24 6 лет назад

      Anne Cuthers do you have color treated hair? Like you said mechanical from improper technique causes knots (caused by combing tangles down the shaft), mid-shaft splits, and excessive splitting and breakage. Dry detangle damp hair with alot of conditioner/oil. I detangle before I cleanse my my hair with clay (shampoo on lazy days). Then I detangle while applying my deep conditioner. Then I detangle during styling. Check hair for split ends/ssk and do a trim or search and destroy method.

    • @annecuthers5723
      @annecuthers5723 6 лет назад

      PunkGirlRock I don't have color treated hair. I also trimmed one inch about two weeks ago. I planned to trim every 3 months or so so all the damage can be cut off by the end of the year but my hair is so brittle and it keeps breaking. for some reason a lot of rinse out conditioners don't work on my hair(and Ive tried a ton, like aussie, suave, vo5 , ogx , tresseme, herbal hydration etc) so I skip that and use deep conditioners and diy a lot of stuff. I do a pre poo detangle, shampoo in my hair in twists , then detangle my hair with water(which isn't that hard ) and my deep conditioner. I rinse out the dc after 30-60 minutes then I t shirt dry my hair for a lil then as I'm styling I try to detangle some more but I don't have a lot of slip and its very frustrating. do you have any product recommendations?

    • @PUNKGIRLrock24
      @PUNKGIRLrock24 6 лет назад

      Anne Cuthers what your hair texture/density? What products are you currently using on wash day? Might be time to switch it up if not working. I don't use alot products so I wouldn't be good at recommendations. I use bentonite clay/acv to wash. I use Eden bodyworks jojoba manoi DC (it's a hit or miss product), for light protein every other week I use aphogee 2 min reconstructor or loreal 5 damage repair mask, for leave in/moisturiser use ors natural leave-in/ hair smoothie (I recommend these 2 products) and I seal my hair with diy oil mix or castor oil. Do you use heat with my DC, try a hot oil treatment. Or try sulfate free shampoo

      Yes, that's correct. After washing and deep conditioning, you would moisturize then seal.

      Arch Marwa Hey!! The Henna Blend I showed in the video is good for strength and Curl definition. That's why I like it. Bentonite Clay as well. It's not for moisture benefits but rather just making your hair more resilient and better looking ❤️
