Dan Fogelberg's catalog is so worth exploring. He managed to capture heartfelt emotions in all his songs. RIP to a soulful talent lost too soon.
He knew how to rock, sing the blues and Rand B too!
@@joelliebler5690: Yes. And jazz, and bluegrass, and bossa nova, and beautiful ballads. . .
you put this so perfectly...he hit every chord of emotion....what a beautiful soul he was...
Rip
This song is about Dan’s first wife. I have seen him in concert many times and he is great live!
"Lonely in Love" was off Fogelberg's "Exiles" album which was also known as his "divorce" album. For some reason, Fogelberg never received the credit he deserved. He has an extensive catalog of stellar compositions ranging from rock and roll to bluegrass to classical to blues. An immensely talented singer/songwriter in my opinion.
I was able to see him in Orlando for that tour, as well as 2 other times. My goodness he was so multi talented. What a beautiful, deep soul.
Dan F was so amazingly adept at capturing different situations and emotions in such creative, mature and poetic ways. RIP Dan, Missing You! (yes, "Missing You" is one of his awesome song titles!)
Oh I love Dan. Great voice and that sax, gone way too soon. ❤
Fogelberg's well is deep. Lots of incredible music from many genres.
When this came out in May 1987 I first heard it while driving, I had to pull over and listen to it because it was just so beautiful.
Me too ! I was living and working in Upstate NY from May through September of 1987 . I was driving around and this song came on the radio . It stayed with me all day and Summer long . That's how I first heard of Dan Fogelberg and his incredible abilities as a songwriter and musician .... Mr Michael Brecker on sax . Now you're cooking with gas .....all the best from Scotland.
Another great song from Dan. He had songs in so many different genres, and they are all excellent. Extremely talented man and he left us a huge catalog of wonderful music. This song is from 1987, but he’s been one of my favorite artists since he first started in the early ‘70s…❤️
Such a beautiful voice.❤ "Run for the Roses" is a song he was asked to write for the Kentucky Derby. It's worth a listen.
Run for the Roses never fails to make me cry. Love it so much.
Take a look at the credits on his albums. In recording sessions, except for percussion, he plays nearly all the instruments. This man was such a beautiful and soulful talent. I'm lucky enough to have nearly all his albums BEFORE auto tune. Mr. Fogelberg, you are still remembered.
“Heart Hotels” is one of my favorites.
One of DF's jazzier compositions. He could do it all. Ever hear "Is This Magic" from the second Fogelberg/Weisberg collab CD? More or less a 60s Brazilian jazz ballad. Very, very cool.
One of my favorites too. So relevant to my own inner condition.
Dan Fogelberg was as much a poet as he was a musician. This song was popular many years ago while I was in a love triangle and watching a relationship that meant everything to me tear itself apart. I felt every word of it. This music brings it all back like it was yesterday. It hurt like hell, but I've realized since then that you're never more alive than when you're feeling that kind of longing. I loved seeing the emotion in their faces when hearing it for the first time. Yep! I feel that! No one has captured that emotion better than Dan Fogelberg in this song.
"Rhythm of the Rain"❤
I'm SO happy you've discovered Dan Fogelberg!! ❤
Enjoyed your reaction. Dan Fogelberg has so many great songs and his storytelling and deep lyrics are like no other. Some of his uptempo songs I recommend are Missing You, Face The Fire(hard rock), Phoenix, As The Raven Flies, Language Of Love, Power of Gold, Wishing On The Moon, Empty Cages, Lost in the Sun, Stolen Moments and Times Like These.
One of my favorite artists. Dan Fogelberg was such a great folk rock singer songwriter & storyteller. He also played multiple instruments such as guitar, bass, piano & mandolin. I had his double album "The Innocent Age" from 1981. "Leader Of The Band" is my favorite song by him, a loving tribute to his dad. He wrote so many great songs such as "Longer", "Hard To Say", "Missing You", "Make Love Stay", "Run For The Roses", "The Language Of Love", "Believe In Me", "Same Auld Lang Syne" etc. We lost him much too soon in 2007.
Just one of a ton of amazing songs by Dan Fogelberg. I'm so glad you checked them out please continue to do so. You won't be disappointed❤
My fiance and I view his entire "Netherlands" album as "our" album.
Netherlands is a masterpiece. Dan's best work, and that's saying something.
Dan’s albums are full of great songs, start to finish. Seeing him live-some of the best experiences of my life. Gone way too soon.
There will never be another Dan Fogelberg never!!!
Agree!
Unfortunately I really don't remember this tune that much... Thanks for sharing. Not one of my favorites... I agree with the other comments there's a lot to explore with this man He's pretty talented the song leader of the band is about his father who literally was the leader of one of the biggest college bands there is out there It was a tribute to him and his father was lucky enough to hear him perform it before he passed away really really great song among many.
Love Dan Fogelberg. My favorite songs of his is As The Raven Flies, performed with Joe Walsh. Thank you. Sad he died so young.
Love it
BJ is right about the song.
So much great music from this artist. A good follow up might be one of my favorites: "Seeing You Again" - the music, lyrics, and vocal delivery are amazing.
You don't know how to fail and that's a good thing keep up the amazing work 👍
I love when Asia is smitten by a song. She is such a romantic soul. You are lucky to have her BJ. She is also lucky to have you as well of course. Love it.
Thing is with Dan - most of his hits were pretty mellow, and he got labelled as soft rock. He could rock too, as well as play the blues, jazz, bluegrass, and even classical guitar. I think many of his lyrics can stand alone, but then throw in his musicianship, a very underrated artist. I saw him a couple of times solo acoustic, he was also funny as well as a great rapport with the audience.
Something I pass on because Dan is one of my favorite artists, talented musician and great lyricist, and he passed away from Prostate Cancer. Dudes, and those of you who love someone of the male persuasion - talk to your doctor about getting an annual PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test. I can personally vouch on the impact. I was diagnosed in 2020 with a very aggressive strain of Prostate Cancer. Here is the thing - I had absolutely no symptoms, yet the early detection (or in my case not too late) allowed for an aggressive pre-emptive post surgery treatment plan, and I have been cancer free for 3 years at the end of this month. I have no doubt that without my annual PSA test, well, I wouldn't be writing this.
To be clear, not looking for pity or hey look at me or the like - but even if just one guy becomes more aware that it literally can save a life
You hit the jackpot with this one!
I can tell you guys were blown away by this one ...
On the liner notes for his box set Fogelberg said, “It never occurred to me 8:35 that this was a strange song for a NEWLYWED to be writing
❤
I almost forgot this great song existed...Dan was the Man.
My favorite by him was Make Love Stay.
One of my favorite songs ever ❤
Love your Channel !❤ do you ever do Rolling Stones ... if so, could you please please do 'Beast of Burden' by them ? I think you would love it ..... please check it out !! love from UK ❤
Somehow, this song (just like Believe In Me) isn't regarded even to Dan's other songs that are still talked about.
Boy, I did not appreciate the greatest of this amazing singer, songwriter when I was young. I was too immature to appreciate him. But I’m trying to catch up and make up for lost time by listening to his music all the time. He was a blessing for sure.
Same Old Lang Syne, Leader of the Band, and Make Love Stay are my favorites by the late Dan Fogelberg. May he Rest in Peace.
Actually sounds like you're almost back. Volume has been really low the last couple videos.
One of his best.
Dan was awesome 5:57
You would love To the Morning by Dan Fogelberg
One of my favorites from Dan!!
☮️💙💙💙
The sax player is always in the groove, really drives this song along with Dans impeccable lyrics. I'm in love with Asia, she is so fine
Great song from a great artist...
