Thanks I need this I’m one of the faster linemen at my school I run a 5.25 but I’m only 200 and I’m trying to put on more weight while improving and maintaining my speed
I agree with mostly everything except your point about full ROM. I understand it trains the stretch reflex and force production through ground which can help with overall speed but the risk for a tall, heavy linemen to get under a bar and do a full ROM squat or Olympic lift is too high. Often times technique is a huge concern and they’re football players not Olympic lifters. Other exercises can be just as beneficial.
I hope these can help me being a first year player as a sophomore, my coaches tell me if I get faster I’ll be amazing because I’m huge I’m only 15 and 6’5 310 lbs and run a 5.9 40
@@kingBaluga We agree with Vinny. There is no replacement for running when it comes to running specific cardio. For short sprint cycles which lineman will often do. We recommend lots of sprints between 10 to 20 yards. Also doing on the minute Olympic lifts. So doing like 2 reps of cleans with 1 minute timed rest for 6 to 8 sets. This will improve cardio and explosive power 👍

@@GarageStrength he could possibly be too low in his stance. Some players think that they have to be “coiled up” in their stance, to get off the ball quicker. But that’s not true at all. It actually slows them down. He also needs to check his footwork, in regards to his first two steps. If he makes contact with the defender on his first step,...he won’t have any power at the point of contact. He will literally find himself “wrestling” with much smaller defenders. I was the smallest lineman this year, but I was able to make first string. I’m scared that next year there’s gonna be more competitive people especially for varsity. I wanna know what drills I can do at home or workouts to gain muscle and work on my lineman drills for next year.
@@nikwazhere2wice282 it is we have a center whos 145 but he's getting dominated by me and the other d-tackles if you playing into your defense and you still want to be small hit around the 190 Mark if you're playing d-end hit around the 170 Mork and if you're playing online hit around the 210 mark
Governor Mifflin... Nice
heyyy
What if my school doesn't have what I need to do the workouts like the sled is there some why I can substitute it
Is this safe for a 12 year old?
Yes, we have several Junior High athletes train these same exercises. The only one that would probably be unnecessary would be the sled pull with harness. Hope that helps 👍
I’m watching this as a defensive tackle to know what the pancake men are doin
NICE!
I know I need to do sleds to be better but god I hate them
Sorry, Homie talking about 5.5 and 5.4 40's as a average? Yo, if trhe 90's and early 2k"s O-line can't go under 5.1 40 then it's a fail. I Hit 4.95 at 290lb no look.
