About the presenters:
Stephany Gonzales is a dedicated multilingual educator and community champion. As a first-generation American, she's deeply committed to empowering multilingual learners. Stephany has firsthand experience supporting diverse student populations, having taught English Language Arts and Reading, and Spanish Language Arts. She's also worked with refugee students through Refugee School Impact. Currently, she's an ESL Instructional Support Teacher at her alma mater, Channelview High School, where she assists a student body of 950 English learners.
Laura Axtell has master’s degrees in special education and counseling and has worked in K-12 regular and alternative education in the U.S. and internationally. Laura previously supported students at an IB curriculum school in Thailand and provides training and consultation with schools serving English learners worldwide. She is a frequent webinar presenter and speaker at conferences and workshops that focus on language development and literacy in diverse settings. She currently serves as an Education Specialist with Reading Horizons.
