    Apparently I wasn't clear enough in the video; when I talk about securing everything with rivnuts, that includes the batteries! I have a couple of D rings and a lashing strap for them. In the meantime, everything is wedged under the drawer system, so they're not going flying around the vehicle.
    I appreciate everyone's concern!

    The mountain dew is 100% required for this build! Dont forget to bring a spare just in case it takes awhile. Thanks for making all of these videos mate, their great!

    Love the build.
    You could use the trunk cigarette lighter socket, to trigger the BCDC. Just make sure the cigarette lighter socket is set to ignition (only powered on when ignition is on), not battery (on all the time).

      @RevereOverland  2 года назад

      When I tested it, it was always on. Is there a way to change that?

      @@RevereOverland In the main fuse box, under the hood. Location F43, if you want it always on (battery powered). Location F45 if you want it controlled by ignition switch. Max load is 20 amp.
      Also search for Jeep Wrangler Fuse box, there are plenty of details available online.

    Would love an update video once you have it through the paces and in cold/heat. Based on this I am eyeing this company's 30ah batteries (would do 60ah total) for an upgrade to my 4runner agm setup. Thanks for putting this out there.

    Great video! Question: that little cubby in the back where you installed these - on my JLU that area gets really warm due to being right overtop of the muffler. Is that an issue in your view? Does yours get that hot?

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 года назад +1

      It hasn’t in the time I’ve had it. Does yours have the heat shield above the muffler?
      I’m sure the batteries will get warm there, since it’s enclosed, but they’re good up to around 130-140F. If it goes above that, they’ll shut off.

      @@RevereOverland great question on the heat shield. I haven’t looked. 😳 But will do so. Ya, mine gets really hot. Will report back.

    Just did a similar set up! Great video! Quick question with the 12 V fuse box. In order to connect your fridge, did you basically have to cut the power cable and connect the positive and negative to the fuse box directly? Thanks! Jim Temecula, California.

    This might seem like a silly question, but bear with me, I'm still learning. Why dual battery? Is it just simply for more power? I'm running a 45L Iceco frig and might run a diesel heat, charge a few things. I'm thinking one 50ah is enough. Am I crazy?

    Real question is will it power the bottle heater and is the drawer system going to have a stroller slide out?! 😂

      Lol that's a real thing especially if you have a BOB stroller like we have. It's great but takes up a ton of room. I honestly took stroller size into account when building a low profile drawer system 😂.

    Great content. I was literally sitting here contemplating where to put a second battery in my new Jeep (in transit) and your video popped up. Crazy. Would you be so kind as to throw some measurements of that cargo bin area up? I've scoured the internet and forums and cannot find that info anywhere. It would be greatly appreciated! Miss the location scavenger hunt videos I used to participate in! Keep up the great content and well put together videography.

      These are the rough measurements of the flat bottom (wider at the curves and top):
      Height: 5 3/8”
      Total width: 23”
      Depth at shallowest point: 7 3/8”
      The right side extends back
      Extension width: 15 1/2”
      Extension depth: 10”

    Hey Revere Overland!, I say if it doesn't fit or go the way you want it to go?, I say scrap that idea, and make a Cooler (for your Mountain Dew), basically a storage cooler!!👍👍 And make sure you drill some holes on the bottom for drainage!!👍😎

    One thing a lot of people (you included) miss is securing the additional batteries properly. They could be lethal projectiles in a roll over cash or any serious crash for that matter. Please secure those batteries properly. If things go bad that velcro isn't gonna cut it.

    I love this build and i plan on doing it sometime soon. Question - the DC-DC charger is quit expensive, is there a reason other than the temp control you went with that one? I see other more economical choices, but not being an expert in electronics, want to make sure i make the right choice.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  Год назад +1

      I wouldn't do much else other than Renogy. The Renogy isn't as compact, but might work. They have good products, but their customer service is atrocious. With Redarc you can just call them if you have problems or questions.

    Heat with the charger, with the batteries, in an enclosed space isn’t a concern? I thought they give off a ton of heat and need to breath a bit.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 года назад +1

      There’s no ventilation there, so all heat loss would rely on conduction through the plastic base… which isn’t great. I’ve seen batteries installed in similar small spaces with no problems, so we’ll have to see how it does. The battery BMS and Redarc both have a high temperature cutoff if necessary.

    What happens if a rear collision? Buss bar post pierce the batteries ?

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 года назад

      It would have to be a serious rear collision to collapse the frame and then hit the bus bar at exactly the right angle. If you don't like it, you can put yours somewhere else.

    I truly wish I understood electrics. I would like to put a powerbank and solar to my 60 series but I don't even know where to begin. An awesome overland video would be to absolutely stupid-style break down power setup and what does what for morons such as myself. I mean fuses, charging stations, bus bars, adding new electric gear, etc...everything beyond simple high school watts, ohms and amps. I just haven't seen a good one yet and you seem to know what you're talking about.
