  • Current Transformer or CT is an important component of Electrical power system. It is used for measurements of current and giving juice to the relays for protection. Current Transformer basically steps down the current so that it can be fed to any meter or relay.
    current Transformer have some parameters like Class, ALF or accuracy limit factor, ISF or instrument safety factor etc. They have their own function to play.
    Overall ration of CT determines how accurately the CT will work. Selection of lower Ratio causes over load, where as selection of higher CT ratio causes less sensitivity of the circuit.

    Dear sir thanks for your CT sizing calculation video.
    Your way of explanation is very simple and can understant easily.
    If possible please include the burden selection(VA) related to CT in your next video with the selection of wire resistance,size,relay burden details etc.

    Min, Knee point voltage is essential for 5P10 or IDMT protection CTs as per standard. Any conversion table available for Knee point voltage to ALF or Vice versa. Any can answer please....

    Hello
    if 3200/5 CT with 5P20 class, means that 20x3200=64000x5%=3200A maximum error - is that correct?

    • @electricaltechnologyandind5335
      @electricaltechnologyandind5335  3 года назад

      Upto 20 times of rated current the error shall be with in 5%. Yes if 64000 A flows error can be upto 3200A.
