- Federal authorities arrested a North Texas man in California who is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. Police said she held up a note that said, "Help Me!" from inside a parked car.

It never ceases to amaze me, what some perverts will subject their victims to. Victims can of course suffer all kinds of mental and emotional health disorders, even suicide in some cases, etc. That suffering typically lasts a very long time - indeed, it can be for the rest of the victims' lives. And people who love the victim, often suffer massively also.
Yet perverts are willing to cause all that fallout, just for some temporary sexual kicks. That degree of selfishness is breath-taking. Really, I don't have any problem with sex offenders being forcibly castrated or executed. You can't fix a sick mind like that. You can't instil genuine empathy, when that chip is missing. All you can try to do, is prevent there being more victims.

Yes, and unfortunately psychological damage is usually the worst part of these crimes. It generally lasts far longer than physical damage. So she wasn't exactly found 'safe', given the psychological damage she will have suffered.
Still, she showed amazing bravery and mental strength, in summoning help. She was genuinely in fear for her life, after this scumbag had repeatedly assaulted here. In those circumstances, many people (even adults) wouldn't want to risk agitating the perpetrator further.
So it was remarkable for a child to risk writing a note (right next to the perpetrator), and hold it up to the window. It's so fortunate somebody noticed, and they played a major part in getting her rescued.
But ultimately, the girl herself initiated the actions, that led to her rescue. She wouldn't have been rescued right then (if ever), if she hadn't summoned the bravery to do that. So I really hope that mental strength helps her in her emotional recovery. I hope she has lots of support, and goes onto a wonderful life.
Why did she run away from home, that needs to be checked out, and secondly keep that demon in jail.
Kids do that all the time. Sure it could be something, but likely nothing. Angsty teens make bad decisions like running away. Sad that hers led to such a horrific experience, for sure

I volunteered at Covenant House in Houston, and the majority of the kids there - boys and girls both - have been slapped, kicked, punched, and eve sexually assaulted by family members. Some have even been forced to leave their homes.

Why did the lord let this guy kidnap and rape her in the first place?
Obviously we can be grateful that people saw the note, and acted on it. They are good people. However, respectfully, they called 911. WITHOUT diminishing their essential contribution to this girl's rescue, they weren't actually at any risk. They may have multiple other admirable qualities, that came out in this rescue. But bravery wasn't necessarily required.
I would instead say THE GIRL is the person in this story, that demonstrated most bravery. She was the one who had just been subjected to highly traumatic (and multiple) sexual assaults. She feared for her life in the process.
For many victims in these circumstances, they (understandably) wouldn't want to risk agitating the perpetrator. But this girl found it within her, to write a note whilst the perpetrator was sat next to her - and display it in the window.
That is absolutely remarkable courage. At any point, he could have discovered the note and harmed her further (or worse).

My country is not infested by guns, I do not fear to be held at gun point whenever I intrude myself in other people life's when necessary.
Would I be on holiday to the states and I see a girl hold up a paper reading 'help me', I'd rush to the car and open the door if possible, without any regard for what the guy behind the wheel might do to me.

I'm so happy she's been recovered. I really hope that all teens will think about how craziness like this can happen if you're out on the streets and vulnerable. There are so many perverts out there just waiting on an opportunity like that.
I'll give you a terrible example of just how many perverts are out there - and how multiple perverts, may victimise the same victim.
There was a murder conviction this week, here in the UK. The victim was a 16-year-old Scottish girl (Abigail Gibson), who lived in a kids' home. She'd already been raped 5 months before her death, by a man who had been convicted for it. And she also unfortunately had a biological 'father', who was a pedophile.
One night, her older (full biological) brother invited her out. She and her brother went to a local park. And there, he subjected her to a violent sexual assault, before murdering her.
A couple of days later, a complete stranger found her murdered body (by chance) in the park. A normal person would, of course, be highly distressed and call the police. But not this complete stranger. He instead decided it was an opportunity to molest Abigail's dead body. And when he was done, he hid the body further into the park. Perhaps he intended to return.
I wish this wasn't a true story. But it is. At every turn, this poor girl encountered perverts. As trafficking victims find out - there are whole queues of perverts, willing to abuse them. And I remember yet another story, where a woman had been raped. Again, a complete stranger found her lying unconscious in a back alley. And you guessed it - he raped her, too.

Glad the community helped! My parents taught me to run regardless to threats as when they take you, they will kill you as there looking for Isolation. I taught my child the same.

This made me cry. I have a granddaughter about that age. Parents, work things out with your daughters and sons! Children, you cannot possibly understand everything when you're so young, but understand that when you run away from home, you put yourself in positions where no one is near to protect you, so you are defenseless, an easy mark!
I think she just wanted to see a friend in Australia and didn't have too big of a problem with her parents, but I agree. If your parents are abusive and/or you're in danger, please try to call an emergency hotline or the police discreetly.

As an adult I was walking to work one night without noticing a guy was following me the entire time 😢 he stopped and asked me if I was ok said he watched me walk at least a mile. Can’t imagine how this little girl felt. So glad she ended up being ok

I had just moved to San Antonio 3 years ago and decided to take a walk with my two girls (2&3 at the time). I was trying to figure out where the crosswalk was when this guy came up to me like he knew me. He just said “hey do you know that person across the street?”. I obviously didn’t but he told me he had been following me for a while (I had been going up and down the street trying to figure out the sidewalk and the person he was talking about had been following my movements across the street, and was waiting at the crosswalk I was about to go to). Anyways, after I said no the guy ended up walking me to the store I was trying to go to and stayed outside until he saw the guy gave up and left.
Thank God she was helped. Praying for healing and recovery for the young girl.
I ran away several times when I was a teenager and nothing good EVER came from it.
I think that teenagers need to do some research before they get the idea of running away from home.

What happened to her is so awful my biological father sexually molested me but wasn’t discovered until I was 18 month’s as I got older I started to remember it I’m 65 those awful memories haven’t gone away I hope that this 13 year old can try and heal from this horrible experience she had and maybe if her home life wasn’t really terrible but at 13 she thought it was her parent’s will listen to her and maybe thing’s can get better. 👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My heart goes out to all victims and I pray more people speak out about this. Too many of us act like it’s not real which makes it easy for sick predators to have full momentum!
Same issue at the very least, Parents can’t raise child properly because they are too busy paying bills so child is raised by black mirror tv and looks online for friends only to be groomed. I’m so thankful she didn’t make it to Australia to visit “her friend”

This is why parents need to keep kids street smart and teach them how to maneuver situations like this. Had that girl known or had training for a situation like this, she might have avoided this. I'm a 60 year old woman and I begged officers to help me but nope !!!! My downstairs neighbor that moved in 2 months ago has been doing awful things to his children but believes he's okay his wife is the same ... Knowing I heard his crimes he's come for me but when he called the police I went to one and said help me but they did nothing... He's threatened me over and over and called the police now to harass me but they won't even say stay away from her ....I'm 60 he's 30 and 6'4"
I'm confused if it's still happening but if it is, get video evidence and make sure to tell the cops EVERYTHING.

I know it’s hard to parent a teenage girl but maybe if parents made them watch the news reports like this daily they might think twice before doing something so stupid as to runaway. So many monsters out there waiting to take advantage of young naive girls.

Meanwhile, we need a mandatory life with no parole for all child predators. You can't even enjoy a stroll down the street without running into one.
