As an employee of Tesla. I 100% agree!!! This is something that I’ve been begging for for years. Tesla could lean hard into the hyper futuristic vibe they give. I’m think more “solar punk” aesthetic. Something super feel good that showcases how Tesla is trying to blend both nature and technology into one.
When I worked there the stores were definitely not a priority - since demand was so high, nobody within Tesla decided to spend more on stores. However, now that we are in a lower demand environment and the Tesla brand is hurting, it would make a ton of sense to invest in the stores. One really big intangible is the brand value of going into a physical store and getting a fun experience, like you had with Rivian. We need some type of brand building experience to counteract all the political shit and news headlines causing negative sentiment with the company.
It would be cool if in the Tesla stores they played a slide show of all the fan made concept art of how folks thought or think future Tesla models would/will look
Tesla's stores should be selling Not-A-Flamethowers, Teslaquilla, shirts, hats, merch, not to mention cyber ATVs, mini Tesla cars for kids, and all the other fun stuff that surrounds the cars. I get that that would make the store look crowded instead of streamlined, but those things could bring in real revenue and profits.
Gali, you’ve got a brilliant idea. Tesla has become complacent, thinking the cars sell themselves. Most of the stores I visited in the past 3 years display one or no vehicles on the floor. Often, it’s a big empty uninviting space.
As a parent I want to pick up on the kids corner idea. Dealerships do this as well. They know that if you want to close a deal with parents you need to take their kids off their backs so they have time to evaluate the car and ask their questions. Small kids are very impatient and get bored super-quickly. Saw a dealership last week where they installed a bouncy castle in their parking lot to even attract unsuspecting parents (basically, if you kid sees the bouncy castle there is almost no chance you can not go there and spend at least 5-10minutes).
I’m with ya, the Rivian store in Chicago was so much better than the Tesla store a couple months ago when I was there! The Tesla employees just sat behind their computers. Didn’t even look up when I walked in. Rivian was super friendly and helpful. Passion was clear
Heck yeah‼️ Highlight all that Tesla has to offer even without a test drive…. - All Tesla seats in the lounges ! - Tesla infotainment/ sound room - FSD simulator - Swagged out Tesla home garage - what else????
I think you’re right, more interactive stuff, possibly food. Definitely kiosks that tell Tesla’s story / fight fud / etc… They shouldn’t leave it all up to the associates and orher customers to educate ppl as I sometimes find myself doing…
Even just selling some limited merch like shirts and products/accessories in the stores would be nice. Most don’t sell anything as far as I know and something would be better than nothing. There might be some exceptions like Kettleman SC and Fremont factory, but not a lot… but maybe it’s just not worth it for the potential added complexity / shrinkage?
Great idea G, especially like the idea of have TSLA fans submit art and put dope ones up on the wall in the stores like a collage of all art submitted..........really like the draft art of your vision, maybe Elon should hire you to do a couple stores and go from there (left a like)
Mount the actual car seats from all their models onto pedestals and call it furniture for the showroom. Maybe even sell that furniture through the online store.
A lot of the tesla employees at the service centers seems like they don't want to be there (not all but most). I do more to talk to potential customers about the car in the showroom than employees do.
Efficiency is having the car sell it self. People connect with their car, not the brand. Tesla drivers all drove other brands quite recently, they aren’t loyal. I think the regular updates help more keeping customers engaged. I still miss my Tesla till this day, nothing competes.
It may not have a direct impact. But it’s brand representation. Reminds of BMW and MB stores years ago. It felt different and luxurious when you stepped in them.
I think that they should come out with a quality line of Tesla appliances that could be made small maybe in their own little box or picnic basket style thing, but that idea would be something small that you can take with you and plug in the 110 outlet like a small coffee maker with a couple of cups or a small blender with a couple of glasses so when you’re pulled over somewhere camping you can make drinks, or maybe A small air fryer, or a toaster, or electric skillet, or a small projector that projects movies from your phone for when you want to be outside instead of watching the screen by the steering wheel. Just stuff that you would want to Have in the back of your Tesla that enables you to do whatever cool stuff you would like to do from inside your car that before Tesla came along you had to get some kind of a 12 V gizmo. But now small fridge/freezer Or any 110 volt convenience that somebody can think of that could be made to store in a small box , that if you wanted to throw it in the back of your car and have it for a weekend lunch or camping trip or a cross country trip would really be cool to have. But I think the key is to design some kind of a travel box that enables you to open it up and use the item and then close again otherwise it’s like you just like you grabbed your toaster from your kitchen counter and throw it in the back of your car . That’s just messy . Maybe at the heart of everything could be a picnic basket with a short table built on top with checkered picnic table cloth and inside like 4 cups and 4 plates and silverware that says Tesla on them And then room for one of these items like an air fryer or a hot water kettle for making pour over coffee and tea.And definitely they should always have those compact camping chairs for sale so for people who want to sit outside can.
Completely agree, get rid of the genius (cringe) Apple feel, Apple is pretentious and lazy anyways. Musk has repeatedly said that Tesla is more than a car company, let the stores reflect that.
Yeah. All Tesla merch should be available for purchase at Tesla stores - at a discount - GET BUTTS IN SEATS. Also, yo, Tesla, cmon man, revamp your merch store. The baseball hats need a revamp, also, cmon no backorders?! Stuff goes out of stock immediately, it's time for Tesla to allow backorders so they can know what demand really is, LFG.
Well said. As a big Tesla fan, I always feel like stores don’t represent the brand very well. People are super nice tho. Just the appearance. I see pictures from 10 years ago still on the walls. 😢
Couldn’t disagree more. This adds nothing to the mission and sounds more like the every day moneypit called a dealership.. Only exception is if the barista is Optimus. That would be a game changer.
This issue is that Tesla is going to be super shy to do this with margins and capex under a microscope. They've always run with a barebones crew and never have swag or freebies, just the cars. I think your points are super cool and valid, but doubt they'd be acted upon given the current state of things. Hell, shareholders finally got Elon to "agree" to advertise at the shareholder meeting but there still hasn't been any action with mainstream advertisements either, just more tightening of the belt.
Tesla store in Bloomington Illinois where Rivian manufactures is weak AF. Looks like they rushed just to get something and isn't a permanent of longterm location. At least its 420 address
100%! The in-store experience should be fun and educational. But there should also be something to draw in existing owners as well, like show your Tesla key card and get a free drink/sticker/patch/etc. Need to get the Tesla owners and the fence sitters to mix!
Pretty good idea. My local is a small store in a mall with a sad guy on a chair. If they could make a robot without great cost that would be cool but just a couple of big screens with some vivid video of the cars and unhinged over the top life style might be good. I don't know if the stores ever factor into sales though. If it's all online and irl. But a 98" samsung is 3k$ now.. easy eye candy
We need to define the long term goals of Tesla. Then start designing the stores with that end game in mind. Question: Where is Tesla going? Answer: We are going to invade and totally remodel the home and almost everything humans touch. The car is just the start and this car part is almost over. That is where we are going. So let's talk about what we have to start with that will totally remodel our home and daily life. Right at the second you read this we have Grok which should be in cars (and everywhere) immediately. Tesla should close all it's stores and just have awesome delivery centres in which you can see and order your car ... but footprint in shopping malls is way to expensive, besides people are already seeing the cars at the parking lot!
Elon and the Tesla team are trying to figure if a 5 cent part is necessary in a car to save costs and you want the company to spend millions on feel good stuff for the store? That might be good for a one time thing at a fair or car show but in all the stores? No. Stuff needs to be cleaned and maintained and that bleeds money.
that's pretty guac for an idea but i got a way more quac of an idea that will make a lot more guap - put an optimus in a robotaxi at the driver seat and eventually it will start carrying groceries dleiver food
Why would tesla need to swag their store. They need to just focus on robotaxi because robotaxi will cause infinite demand. Literally 0 reason to put any spending in making the store any different.
I will be the first robotaxi customer but I question your assumption of "inifinite" demand. For starters, everybody who currently owns a car will unlikely become a robotaxi customer. The TAM will be current taxi users + a fraction (
@@Martinit0 when your vehicle can generate a profit of any kind that means that a business can be made out of it, and businesses will form that basically handle and manage fleets of teslas. So yes infinite demand ensues. They aren't going to make cars that are a net loss over time, their entire point is that it will profit because of robotaxi.
As I’m watching this video I thought of how you created the first ever (that I am aware of) investor questionnaire during the conference calls. Absolutely classic🤘. Those were the fun days
What marketing? You mean Elon raving about how inferior black people are, on Twitter? Or funneling money to support his failing Twitter via "advertising" on Twitter? Or pimping republicans nonstop?
Yeah, I went into the new local gallery kind of looking for a job as my Tesla stock is in the dumper. The sales guy I interacted with seemed to have a permanent scowl, we were like oil and water. In my conversation with the saleswoman, I kind of determined she was not a car person. She didn't take too kindly to my observation but she'd never heard of Sandy Munro or any of the other mainstream Tesla fan channels. You can only apply for a job through online channels. From my experience, I'm twice as old as the sales staff that I spoke with, I have a lot more life experience and a broad skill set compared with them. From my hiring experience, if someone has a remarkable résumé, you find a position in the company for them. The store manager didn't appear to have hiring autonomy. Positions are strictly defined in retail whereas from listening to Farzad, engineering is free floating. Here's a kicker, there are no business cards for salespeople, they want everything to be digital. How frigging stupid is that? Mind boggling dumb. I'd have large prints made of local owners of Teslas in the waiting room including the local police department. Tesla needs to stop waiting for customers to walk through the door. They need to go out and meet them in the field. I'd do reach out to that PD and go talk with the chief as they're contemplating CyberTrucks. I'd take a Highland 3 to Cars and Coffee and a CT. The landscaping needs attention. The waiting room door off the showroom floor was unmarked; it didn't indicate there was a waiting room, restroom or the shortcut to the service center. The coffee machine was in the waiting area but no coffee machine on the showroom floor. So, I have to spend $40,000 to get a cup of coffee? I'd have an espresso machine on the showroom floor. I'm a big believer in breaking bread and making relationships. We're in the Wine Country. Many people have lost their homes to wildfires including my architect. Why isn't solar more prominent? Why isn't there someone on the ground in Lahaina pushing for energy autonomy? It's a perfect chance to get rid of power lines and power poles which, like California, sparked the wildfires. And power poles are being put back in the ground as we speak. Lead the revolution! I wouldn't have wine tastings, too much liability, but I'd have a Friday afternoon produce tastings like the 50 varieties of apple we sampled at the Grange Hall. Make the Tesla gallery an event space. Give people a reason to come to gallery, educate customers about solar while they're there. I'm so disappointed in how pedestrian the thinking is regarding marketing at Tesla. Free thinking is definitely not encouraged and I'm too fucking old to put up with corporate bullshit anymore. Elon chastised Wall Street Tesla stock holders are not offering to work to make Tesla a better company but here I am trying to protect my investment. My problem is, while my stock is in the toilet, I suffer from the imposter syndrome.
They need to change the look of the Model S and X, and they need new colors. F*ck the showroom. I bought a Model Y two weeks and there is a Teslabot in the showroom. It's fine. The employees are great. But the S, it looks almost identical, 12 years later. Elon, uniquely, does not comprehend that this is a problem. You can't sell the same look forever. He doesn't get this. Groovy furniture won't help.

Elon checked out mentally a long time ago. It's all republican politics now.
@@bigdaddy1279 Agreed. Friends and family members won't even consider a Tesla. He now detracts and distracts from the mission.
Chick-fil-A 4 the Win🎉
With who? Christian Nationalists? Not me, and I have had three Teslas.
