Renting a Tesla instead of taking the bus

  • Supercharging rant about how awesome it was to rent a Tesla on Turo and FSD to Grammy's house instead of taking the bus there. And it was only $240! ($290 including post trip supercharging reimbursement) vs ~$220 for the bus. And it took less time because the bus stops (and I didn't have to subway to the bus station). Shoutout Turo! On the drive while listening to BG2 podcast I had so many schemes about the Tesla ridesharing app combined with the Cybercab launch and how stoked I am.

    When it's rubber taxis and you want to take a long road trip tes la AI could literally have another robo taxi sitting at the supercharger waiting for you and give you the option of waiting for your car to charge or just transferring to the new car fully charged ready for you when you pull in eliminating supercharging time you just have to transfer to another vehicle

      Also that would help keep cars in their jurisdictions, States, etc. Or give Tesla the ability to move cars around at no cost to them from state to state like LeapFrog over a month or two you could transfer Tesla's robotaxis from state to state city to city while people pay for it LOL

    Tesla should buy Hertz I think they can use Hertz location and expertise to start ride sharing and robotaxi. Tesla and add charges at hertz plus they can use hertz employees to clean and do maintenance on cars. Hertz have a market cap of 1.5 billion I think it’s a great deal.

    Tesla needs to add more Supercharger locations in lower population areas. I still get range anxiety when I want to go camping in remote areas in Arkansas. If they could just put a 1 or 2 70kW stalls at all the Walmarts in rural areas I'd be good. But I agree with Elon that they can probably slow down on new locations on the coasts & cities, and just improve and expand the existing locations.

    Smaller battery isn’t charged faster…
    Each 4680 cell has a rate you can charge it safely. And if you have 1000 cells, you can put 2x more power into that car, than a car with 500 cells could safely handle. Semi and cyber cab will have basically the same charge time provided that you use the optimal charger.

    I am glad the supercharging manager is fired, I don’t think she has been doing a good jobs because on my road trip to Washington States which I do several times a year, I saw many Supercharging locations on the way and there is a newer one which has 51 stalls but hardly any users for the past year but once I arrived Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland, I saw so many Tesla but can’t find hardly any supercharging stations, the one in Bellevue is inside of a pay garage, one in Totem Lake only has 12 stalls and always has a waiting line. Many people in that area live in apartments and they need to use supercharge. I think that department needs new leadership and organization.

    Why doesn't Tesla buy Aptera and use them as Robotaxi's.
    They will just need to integrate the wireless chargers into it, job done. Aptera's are two seaters with solar panels that go lije stink, cheap to own and operate due to small battery and long range.
    They do look cool and have low maintenance interiors. They will need to redesign the interor but not that much by using stear-by-wire the stearing wheel can be pluged in or out. Thus Tesla can have the same car go into two modes. First mode is when the car is human operated and second mode is fully autonomous.

    My guess is we'll see:
    CyberCab= $25k, 2 seater, pod style robotaxi
    CyberBus=50k+ 8-10 bus robotaxi
    M3/Y based Hatchback = 30k, non robotaxi
    Hopefully:
    MX based full size 7 seater SUV/Van, no falcon doors, under 65k; and/or Cybertruck based off-road, 7 seater SUV/Van to compete with Jeep's and Rivian R1S 🙏

    • @Martinit0
      @Martinit0 4 месяца назад

      What's the point of giving out a price for the cybercab robotaxi? - assuming it will not be for sale.
      Everybody is waiting for the $25k affordable car (preferably 4-seater hatchback). If it's not a 4-seater, it will bomb. If it's $30k it will bomb. A 2-seater is a niche vehicle (but may be viable as robotaxi).
      Bus/van = these are low volume vehicles popular in poor countries. I have a feeling they will not be popular in the US.

    • @Teddy_M85
      @Teddy_M85 4 месяца назад

      @Martinit0 Why would you assume the robotaxi won't be for sale?
      CT rwd was supposed to be 40k, and it's 60k now.. Elon said the new models won't be 100% unbox platform = less savings to Tesla and higher ASP and the EV credit will be the equalizer for now...
      USA loves big cars. Yes, the large SUV/Van market is small compared to the 3+Y but they are just trying to get to 3 million cars with those offering, and even Tesla could use them internally for mobile techs... IMO the robotaxi will take Tesla to 10 million plus when at full global scale... I doubt 20 million is possible, especially if you are correct and robotaxi are NOT for sale. The off road CT based SUV is all I care about. I don't really need a truck bed but would like something bigger than the MY. Jeep has that market on lock but Tesla should be able to compete. 🤷‍♂️
