Chris, I am a 74 year old Southern white woman who really enjoys watching your joy in cooking. I also appreciate you scraping your bowls, or pots out and not wasting. My daddy was a farmer, and we grew up knowing where our food came from ( I had 10 brothers and sisters ). One more comment if I may..........I'm happy that you give thanks to the ONE who gives us all things. Give your son thanks for sharing his recipe, as I plan to make it soon. May Our FATHER richly bless you. Jan Nance
Jan Nance Thank you Jan, I appreciate your note. I to grow up the same way it makes you grateful for what you have and alway give Thanks to God. I am happy you like my channel. God Bless you.
I just finished cooking this for my family, I followed your exact recipe and let me tell you they demolished the entire pot. Thank you so much for sharing
The best thing about gumbo is that everyone makes theirs differently. I love trying other people's gumbo. It says a lot about the things they like and how they may have grown up. This one looks tasty, I would love to try it. I have made all kinds of gumbo but I have never put turkey necks in it. I think I'll try that this weekend.
Miss Chris, I love your cooking videos and the steps you give are invaluable. Your love of cooking shows by experience and skills. Give me joy! Thank you,God bless you.
You are a fantastic cook! And I love the way you put your heart into it and have a family centered joy. Thank you for sharing your talents and traditions with us.
I’m sorry, but was that one cup oil too one cup of flower!!! I didn’t get that part, I see clearly that bothe measurements in the cup were same highs, but was the measurements
Dear Miss ChrisCook, I have watched literally a hundred videos on how to cook gumbo. Yours is likely the closest to Miss Betty's; a true Cajun lady who I loved and respected more than anyone could know. I'm going to watch your video a few more times so I can actually write down your methods. I am from Southern Indiana, but during the course of 26 years, I was stationed (in the Navy) mostly in the Southern states ( including New Orleans) for a majority of my career. Thank you darlin' .
I have found my cooking angel!!! You have dropped out of the sky and right into my ipad!!! I have been trying to find the right way to make gumbo and thankgoodness! I have finally hit the jackpot!!! This is awesome teaching! Thankyou to infinity!!! ❤️😍😱 Iam so glad I found your channel!
A beautiful gumbo dish. I haven't had it for many years. My mother who has passed on used to make this every Christmas using the same ingredients and making the same quantity for family. Now that I've seen your RUclips video, I can go back to it and follow your Instructions. Thanks for doing this. My mother was from Louisiana, that was her style of cooking,
I watched your video to learn how to make Gumbo to surprise my mom, and it was like watching my own mom trying to teach me to cook Gumbo. Top notch video.
Thank you for such a fantastic recipe!!! Also, it really helped me when you checked in every 8 minutes or so to show what color and consistency your roux should be!!!
This is an absolute amazing way of gumbo cooking. I just know its excellent. The corm is always optional. I have always had corn in the gumbo from others who cook it, along with myself. Chris, you are a prayful , lovable soul, who just happens to cook the hell out of some food. Stay blessed, and safe out here. Thanks for recipe, this will be my next to go to gumbo recipe!!
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!! Honestly, we didnt look at the description and we assumed to did not put the amount of seasoning, but luckily we put about the same amount as supposed to! Rice is cooking as we speak!!!! SO EXCITED!! THANK YOU 🥘🍲🍲🥘🥘🍲🍽🍽

loved cooking right along with you. you had the 1st post that showed you as you stirred and talking (enjoyed hearing about your family) unlike others who just cut to the end color of rue. thanks!
Cannot wait to try this yummy looking gumbo, it will take a while to save for all the ingredients, but well worth it ! I did mexican food this Christmas, so next holiday will be GUMBO! Thank you Chris!
@@blueseah1 Yes I pan fry my okra. That's what I'm talking about. Anyone that knows how to make real homemade gumbo would know this. I'm from New Orleans 😉
Really nice video, with heart! Nice message, too, 'cause your right: Jesus IS the reason for the season! For a minute there, I felt that you conveyed the warmth that can only be found by standing next to you in in the kitchen, helping you cook! You have a comfortable style...I make my gumbo very similar to your process- a few variations, 'course, but nonetheless, very close. Happy New Year, and keep those stove pots warm. Again, pleasent to watch! PS-- The onion soup mix addition was a new one on me. I use it often enough in other things, but never in this application... I'll have to remember that!
Ms. Chris' gumbo has it goin' on! Yours is the first gumbo, beyond my families receipe, that included corn. I prefer to use frozen corn that's been thawed and drained. Great job Ms. Chris!
Oh my goodness that was so good, my stomach was yellin' by the end~ Outstanding recipe and certainly a perfect meal for Christmas. You did it up real good, thanks so much for sharing!
You cook gumbo similar to the way I was taught to cook chicken and sausage gumbo! You must be from west Louisiana? Great personality, family values, and true Christian spirit Thanks for the video! Wish I could taste that gumbo!
Just finished making a seafood gumbo and I am sitting outside near the vent exhaust. Man, is it smelling good. More simmering to do so I simply must wait. Patience. While waiting, I found your video and your gumbo looks wonderful. Never thought to add jalapeños and that will be in my next gumbo of whatever type. Not sure about the corn- it seems messy to eat.
