"I like me, I would buy me a drink."
    Great quote.
Now I gotta get myself there.
"All in all, I'm a pretty good dude."
    That I agree with.
Now I gotta get friendlier with myself.
I should treat me more like I would treat a friend.

Well said, treat yourself how you would treat a true friend. If you need to, write it down and read it to yourself every morning and every night.

In my opinion, these two were having two separate conversations. Chris was saying you have to do X, Y & Z to like yourself.
Creek was saying, I like me regardless of X, Y and Z, and what I did in the past. I chose to like myself and integrate traits I like about others into myself, in order to like myself more. Not that you really have to do anything, just be and analyse yourself with more grace.
    I prefer Creek’s philosophy.

8:54 or alternatively, find what you like about others and try to identify those characteristics in YOURSELF. If you can identify it in others, you can in yourself, and that helps too.
It’s not foolproof. I still don’t like myself ALL of the time. I hate the choices that led me to where I am now, lonely at 41 with no hope of a future family with someone who loves me unconditionally. But I’m still here, trying to survive and be better. I’m the only one who ever showed up for me most of the time.

I think it’s possible to just appreciate yourself outside of possessions, skills, mindsets, behaviours etc. Why put absolute confidence in things that can fade away or be stripped from you? We can love ourselves by simply being content, that we are a one of one human being. Truly unique. Nobody can take that from us.

“Find someone you like…” literally had this conversation with my kid again today.
There are two role models in life, ones who exemplify behaviors you DO want to emulate and ones that exemplify behavior you DO NOT want to emulate. And even within each, there will be parts of the other; as we are multifaceted individuals.
If you want to emulate a person, do what they do, think of how they would approach a situation and conduct yourself accordingly.
Do not do the things, that the negative role models exemplifies, you find morally reprehensible.
After time, you become a person that is neither a carbon copy nor antithesis of your role models but rather a unique individual, designed of your own morals and principles, that you deeply admire.

That’s the obvious secret; the not-so-common common sense. I discovered this, myself, in 2017 but didn’t follow through until February 2019.
I did not gain respect for myself until I stopped doing things that I found disrespectful. As soon as I began conducting myself in a disciplined, respectable manner that earned my own admiration, I quickly became a person that I enjoy and trust.

      Hey man, enjoy it.
I've been with women all my life, were obsessed about it, couldn't see myself on my own.
At some point, I decided to let go and explore that "alone" way of life.
Probably took over a year before it really kicked in.
Now, damn, she'd have to be a really convincing woman to have me even consider living together.
Not that it's a bad thing in itself, but it's so much more to life and I want to experience that as well.
At some point again, maybe, probably.
But yeah, enjoy life on your own man.
There's more to life, and you, than lost love 🫡

I was an ex junkie and did some pretty crappy things over the years. Stole, lied, was cold/unavailable in relationships, lots of drama etc. But I got clean and changed my ways. You cant help but remember some of the bad things you did in the past sometimes but it doesnt help to ruminate over it. Just be a better person than you were yesterday and dont make those same mistakes.
When I find myself hung up about it on a rare occasuon, I think of Rafiki from The Lion King "It doesnt matter, its in the past".
