The 70k offer is back for a limited time at this link: pointsandprofit.com/aa-red-aviator I have no idea when it'll expire, so if you want this card, now might be the perfect time to apply! If you want to watch another video of this Barclays card, that link is here: ruclips.net/video/rI83k7k4AOQ/видео.html
@@JacobsPointsAndProfit I don't remember much when it was with US Airways but do remember about 2 levels for the cards with $49 or $89 annual fee & preferred boarding only the higher annual fee & the rewards were about the same with the US Airways MasterCard. I got it when it was the US Airways card I used to mainly fly US Airways to visit my family.
@@devonmaska6149 Thanks for sharing! It seems there's other Barclays American Airlines cards with a $49 annual fee and $0 annual fee, but those cards don't have the perks of this one and you can't apply for those lower annual fee cards directly
Ah man, I was gonna say "there is a 70,000mi welcome offer for 1 purchase out there" - I'm glad you snagged it. I did the exact same thing. And they drop the AF pretty much as soon as you activate the card. The AA card from Barclays is actually a very attractive card; too bad you won't ever want to use it due to the terrible spending options. Congrats!
I snagged it right before it expired! I'll be activating the card in the next couple days when the card arrives so I'm excited for those miles to hit my account
I have this card. I love it! No foreign transaction fees and great security features. I sure hope AA doesn't discontinue this card. I can't stand CitiBank.
It’s taken me a month to decide between Citi and Barclays SUB requirements and rewards spending. Unfroze Trans Union only because I am at 5/24 with Experian and 2/24 with TU and EQ
@ yes, I got the Barclays with a healthy limit. Then I saw the announcement from American Airlines, giving Citi exclusive rights to their credit cards. So Barclays will be converted in 2026
@@JacobsPointsAndProfit It caught up to me to last month! I was denied for the Citi Strata Premier in September 2024 after getting the AA card (and the Bilt card) in July 2024. Tried applying for the Amex Gold 2 weeks later, but was denied for that one as well. I will try the Amex Gold application again in early November, especially since the 100k + 20% statement credit referral bonus ends on November 6 (and it is a soft inquiry if you get denied). I have a lot of travel spend coming up, along with condo repairs and bi-annual property taxes, so it would be really nice to get that card when I can more easily hit the $6,000 minimum spend over 6 months! Otherwise, it might be time for me to garden, and lay low on applications until March - April 2025.
Hi Jacob. It's been a while. I hope that you and Jenny are doing alright. Congrats that you got the card. So how many cards did you open in the past 24 months?
Jenny and I are hanging in there! I've opened lots of business cards lately but only 2 personal cards in the last 24 months. They pulled Transunion which didn't have any inquires in the past 2 years. I'll share more about this in an upcoming video
@@JacobsPointsAndProfit Yes Jacob. Please share more in your next video. Many people are afraid of Barclays's hard 6/24 rule. It would be nice if you can share your overall card application strategies too, such as when you open more cards, or the order of opening cards, or when to go hard in business cards. Thank you!
I got the card in July 2024 since I plan on going to Japan for vacation in Spring 2025. I had no major spend at that point of the year to hit $3,000 - $6,000 in expenses over 3 months, so that was a good time to go for the card. I missed out on the 70k welcome offer, finding out about it only 30 minutes after applying for the card with the 60k offer. :( Tried calling up Barclays, but they were unable to match the offer. Still, 60k miles with only one purchase ($2 at Walgreens) and a $99 is unbeatable! AA miles are hard to come by, and I now have over 80k miles in my account, which should be enough for a business/first class flight to/from Japan on Japan Airlines. Now I just have to wait for MLB to release the tickets for the Cubs-Dodgers Japan series in March 2025, since that's the main reason I want to visit Japan (aside from touring the country)!
Sounds like it was a great time to apply for the card, but sad about the 60k instead of 70k. That's a really cool idea flying to Japan for baseball. Tell us how the trip goes when you come back!
The Hawaiian Airlines personal card has a 70k bonus after making 1 purchase on www.getmyhawaiiancard.com/ You have to enter a promo code before the application and I've been testing out which ones work. Here's a couple: 000150, 015559, 012230
Amazing video Jacob! This is one of the cards I really want to apply for while I’m working on my Delta Gold Business SUB . I was driving and listening to this video so I’m not sure if you mentioned it or not but what was your credit score or inquiries before this application? This will really help me with my decision lol thank you!
The Delta Business Gold is one I'm looking at right now! I didn't mention credit score and inquires in this video because I'm saving that for another one I'll post pretty soon when the card arrives in the mail, but they pulled Transunion for me and Credit Karma says I was an 805 with 0 credit card inquires in the last 24 months. All my recent applications have been pulling Experian
@@JacobsPointsAndProfit As you said this card is very bad for the multipliers. I wonder when should I cancel it? One year before paying the fee for the second time?
@@junboo8730 you could if you want to, but if you cancel after 1 year, in general, most people wait until after the annual fee posts before calling in and requesting a downgrade or to cancel. I would assume Barclays would refund the annual fee but this is my first Barclays card so I'd research that if I were you. I probably will plan to downgrade this card to the no annual fee version after year 1 if they will let me
Before applying I was at 2 personal cards in the last 24 months. Lots of inquires from all the business cards I've got in that time period, but they pulled Transunion, which hadn't been pulled for a credit card in the last 2 years. I'll make another video about this card when it comes in the mail going over those data points in more detail
kind of of unrelated to this video but its air miles related, different company tho lol. Ok what do you think about this deal. 120K Delta sky miles for this ticket from BOS to SYD for 120K miles + $145 ? long ass trip tho lol
Round trip in comfort+ for 120k seems like a decent deal. I'm sure there's better options out there but if you already have a bunch of Skymiles and a Delta card then I'd say go for it! You can also cancel that Delta award ticket for free so you can book it now and then continue to look for a better deal
150k is a nice offer. The best I’ve seen recently on that card is 100k miles for $10k of spend, so as long as you can spend that much and you like the card, it should be great for you!

That's awesome! Congrats and thanks for sharing your data points
That welcome offer has to be unprecedented! Smart to sign up while it lasts!
The welcome offer is amazing! Now we have to pick about what flight we want to take
Congrats 🍾🎈🎉 Thanks for the info + video!

Let's go Jacob! Love this card primarily as a bonus play. Smart to get on it before AA potentially becomes exclusive with Citi.
Yeah I thought it couldn’t hurt to get the card now and see what happens in the future
