Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Not sure if you will see this Zach, but I used to work for a feedmill in Wisconsin and my leg got caught in an auger resulting in amputation. If he needs someone to talk to that has gone through a similar experience, I would be glad to help.
In germany a farmer lost both of his legs I think it was about 6 weeks ago. Had a blocked auger in the hopper while unloading and they were trying to clear it...he slipped and got pulled into the auger with both of his legs. Medical team had to do the amputation on site, as they could not get him out.
Engine was running and auger still running, farming assistant was sitting in the cab, so the safety did not shut the engine off.
He is not gonna see this

Sad to hear Zack, praying for the young man. 100% agree with all of you staying safe and I hope all of you have great success with your harvest.
anyone else get excited when THE millennial farmer uploads a video when its harvest time AND it’s over 20 minutes? closest thing to heaven

@@MillennialFarmer in spite of your challenges with flat corn etc I’m sure you’d take your position over his every day of the week 👌🏻
How is Jim? Anything we can do for him.
Prayers said for Travis and his family. BE SAFE EVERYONE....
3 years ago in July just a week before my dad's birthday, him and my uncle that he farmed with we're cleaning out a grain bin to get ready or the upcoming crop in the fall. He went up into the grain bin and had all of his safety gear on. Unfortunately he never made it back out alive. They had to cut a hole in the side of the grain bin to empty all the green until they could find him. It just goes to show you that no matter how careful you are things can always happen. Thank you Zach for all your videos. It has definitely made me a huge advocate for grain bin safety. Although myself I will never use another one again as long as I'm farming.
Hopefully they figured out what happened to cause your father's death of which I am sorry for and someone can learn from it... I know things hurt in life but I hope that you in life learn from say for example an unfortunate fender bender car accident and become a better defensive driver instead of parking the car and never driving again... I'm sorry about your families loss i can tell you really loved him... best wishes
I don't think the general public realizes the peril you farmers put yourselves in, everyday when farming. The equipment, and such, all have their dangers. Keep safe!
Nice of you to share the Go Fund Me.... Donated and I hope the man does well!
Zach your Father comes across as the nicest mild tempered man you’d ever want to meet. It’s great to see 5 and 4 working together so we’ll. Here’s to a safe and prosperous harvest!
Love how Dad uses the traditional yellow/red chore gloves. Reminds me of days spent farming with my Dad. ❤️
I use those predominantly as well, and they're just better than the others!
It amazes me how much you have to know ....about everything! Modern farming is soooo calculated. The amount of knowledge you have with all your various operating systems blows me away! Well done and much respect to you and your family!
Donated to Travis' gofund me, thanks for the heads up. With your platform, you can make real change. Good on you Millennial Farmer and family.
Best wishes to that injured farmer. And also all the best for a successful 2023 harvest.
I think that new Thunderrr trailer underlines the complexities of being a farmer. The equipment that you have to have just to support the other equipment that you have and the knowhow to use it all. My hat's off to you Zach, your family and all the other farmers out there that keep us fed and healthy. Thank you.
Now I want to see how good his welds are 😂
I own a farm and there is no way I could purchase the equipment this guy does in a year. RUclips must pay well
@jone8626 if you're referring to the trailer, I wrote a healthy check for it, and I consider it worth every penny for our operation. I'm not stopping any other farmers from starting a RUclips channel.
@@andynev123987 it does, I recommend trying it for yourself. It's been life changing for my family, but it does take a LOT more work than anyone realizes
How is Jim doing really miss him being on your videos. I'm really enjoy watching these videos hopefully things continue to go well during this harvest working short handed. 🏁🍻
That sneeze at 5:10 really got me! 😆
My thoughts and prayers go out to the young farmer and his family! Hate to hear about stuff like that and hope when all is done he can make a great recovery and be with his family!
I hope you're crops improve. And I hope that young man heals and can keep farming!
Been using an air compressor on filters for 50 years. The only ones that tell you not to are the people who sell them.
Thanks Zack again and again for explanaing what you do and how you do it, love the way you and your Dad get along as the best days of my life where working with my Dad, Dad has passed on and I miss him dearly so enjoy your time with Dad, be safe and we will be praying not only for the injured Farmer but for all expecially this time of year when it's so dangerous (from Canada)

Hi Zack, i am from South Africa and i love to watch the way you farm. Is it possable for you to give dates every nou and then. Thanks in advance
Awesome!!! Another great video of harvestin thanks for sharing and bringing us along!!! You guys are Awesome Farmers !!!!
Good old Millennial Farmer during harvest time as appreciated for a couple of years now. Keep it up! Thank you all the way from South Africa.
We made a manifold for our air system filter. Amazing what running multiple filters can do! We get better airflow and the filters stay a lot cleaner.
You guys got some bad ass equipment nice and clean. Keep up with the great videos.
Yeah, you can use an air compressor on an air filter, carefully; it's how it's done! Just do it from the inside out...😅
Damnation with your Twins taking down my Blue Jays. Minisota has a good squad. Hope they go to the World Series.
All the best to the injured farmer. I hope he pulls through with as little damage as possible.
In the UK farming is a leader in industrial accidents as like farmers everywhere they very often work alone. Also one of the highest suicide rates is among farmers, doctor's and veterinarians.😢 Mental health in the farming industry is slowly being highlighted by various YT - its nothing to be ashamed about - but farmers of certain generations are stubborn people.
I have always enjoyed watching your videos thank you for sharing
5:36 I hope what ever fell off of the PTO wasn't important.
Yo love your vids bro. Keep it up. I got more into tractors now bc i watch your vids. I learn stuff and im going for my license this year. Keep it up man
Do you know why I like harvest? Because we get a video from the Millennial farmer every other day or so!!!🌽🌾🚜
Prayers for the young man and his family
We had an older farmer loose his life in a grain bin accident over this past weekend by us.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 to all our farmers and their helpers.
That's awful. I'm sorry to hear it
The book I have says to run the feed acceleration in low for beans so I do not think you were wrong the way you had it set up for beans. I do run it in high with green stemmed beans though.
With all the insanity in the world these days, it sure is nice to see food coming off the fields in another year. It is a good feeling.
His corn is for ethanol
Yes, I know. But doesn' t some go to pig food? And if things get bad, it could go to food, even if to foreign countries. @@mtms42000
@@mtms42000 The residual after ethanol production, I believe, goes for livestock feed.

I love seeing combines doing their thing. Not sure where it all goes, but I am sure of this: If the combines stop, we don't eat.
Glad to see you getting started. Prayers for a safe and profitable harvest. Prayers for the victim of the accident and his family🙏🙏
Was close with the Harmless Farmer (Andy Detweiler) here in Ohio who lost both arms at a young age from a auger shaft. Not just bins, make sure safety covers are on all equipment. Quick slips are everlasting. Stay safe farming fam!

I know that I also managed to reverse the truck with my Dutch truck driving license

Praying for Travis and his family as he goes through his recovery. Thank you for bringing his situation to our attention.
Let anna ride in the combine 😂

We always ran accelerator in low speed in all crops, fed better, regurgitated less crop and split less seed!
Hi milliennial farmer I love your videos

Be safe. Yes u fortionate. Sad deal for the family. Dreams are now shattered. Thanks for participating in the program for aid.

Famous last words by a farmer...it can wait. you're way ahead of us this year, we r in central Alberta. hoping to get going on Canola this weekend. And yes you don't think an accident can happen to you. but one of our neighbors kid had both his arms ripped off by pto, We can laugh about it now, but he ran into the house and called 911 with his mouth, And then layed in the tub, because he did not want to bleed on moms carpet. he is ok now!
Thanks for sharing about the tragedy near you and for the GoFundMe link. It was an honor to donate and help out this young family as their life has now been changed forever.
Is your dad always so cheerful!? He’s always upbeat and appreciative. He needs more camera time!!
Well, not ALWAYS lol. But who is?!
Just ask him his opinion once in a while makes em feel good, LOL. I did it to my dad, He always smiled with an answer like he knew I didn't really need his opine but what the hell, we got along great on good days, even bad days without buttin heads to much! Yer Dad looks like a pretty cool operator.@@MillennialFarmer
Zach thanks for getting the word out about the accident and the paypal account. That young man is going to need a lot of love and support for a long time.
Can onyx be in the videos more please much love from south Africa❤❤😊
Nice way to start lunch! Watching you work...😂
RainX those hopper windows and they will shed most of the dust.
Great video Zach! Be safe and update us on how Jim is doing sometime. It's not worth it getting in a hurry around equipment or bins. Anytime I hurt myself It's because I was trying to save time, cut corners and it bites me! Watch your pets around heavy machinery too! As they get older their eyes and ears aren't what they use to be.. Stay safe!
Jim told us last night he's feeling pretty good and wants to try doing some work next week!
Sweet! Hopefully there's a nice tractor seat he can be in for awhile@@MillennialFarmer
Hey Zach, always enjoy watching you. So sorry for the down corn. We did that 2 years ago. Bummer!!
Also enjoy seeing Onyx. Miss watching him grow. He’s such a great kid.
Best wishes! God bless 🙏🏻😀👍
Love Nate's commentary. You can tell by his facial expressions what is going to happen.
I've always thought that too
kids downstairs at the MF house all they hear upstairs is "THUNDERRRRRR!"
Whats up zach?! Glad to see your feilds be a success considering the low amounts of rain all year long. Have a good one and keeper between the rowes!
Always love seeing the dogs run around on the farm. Need some Onyx footage in the tractor or combine. Keep them coming.
You were commenting on the corn being so tall. Why don't they create hybrids with a shorter stalk? It would be less leverage for the wind and stand up better with a root worm problem.
Boy that corn harvest is quit an operation. Love watching that combine do the work. Very pretty John Deere combine. My wife thinks I am dumb for calling it pretty. Oh well!
You didn't have the feed accelerator wrong Mr Zach, it's supposed to be set to low for soybeans.
I just put in a donation.
Prayers for Travis and his family.
What an amazing thing on gofundme, was over 92k when I last checked!!!!!
Why can’t you use a compressor on a air filter, never heard such nonsense, it’s as common in the uk to blow your air filter out as going to the toilet, 😳😳
ooooh nice new editing technique!!!
that's what I was hoping to implement for you guys if I made the cut, still could do it if needed though! Nice job Becky!
We have the same JD combine for 15 years and just like you we argue every dang year how it was set up last year 😂😂😂
As far as safety goes, there's an old saying among truck drivers, You can go down a hill too slow a million times but you can only go down it too fast once. You might go into a grain bin a thousand times without anything bad happening but you have to remember that something bad could happen every time you go in. A man just died yesterday in Wisconsin when he was buried by corn silage.
Another thing that happens in rural areas is people ignoring stop signs. I've often heard people say, "I'll stop twice for it next time." Just a week ago a woman failed to stop for a stop sign and a man on a motorcycle hit the side of the vehicle and was killed. Back in the 1960s near my grandparents farm, a woman and her daughter were on their way to church on a Sunday morning when she rolled through a stop sign in front of a milk hauler. The tank was half full so when the driver tried to turn to avoid them, the milk went to one side and the truck rolled over the car killing the mother and daughter. That has always stuck with me so I stop at every stop sign and look both ways. I am always watching at intersections to see if any approaching vehicles are going to stop.
Thank you so much... many in my family drive semi are in farming and are in the construction field... there have been some close calls and a few horrible accidents one being someone didnt stop at a stop sign and my dad couldnt stop in time the driver passed unfortunately due to a propane tank the guy having in his van coming up and hitting him in the head so sad... another being my brother being a blacktop roller for state roads driving the roller to the end of the construction zone where the speed limit is typically 55mph with one lane closed speed reduced a fully loaded dump trailer full of gravel come into the closed lane at 76mph and smashed my brother on the roller we dont think he ever saw it coming the semi hitting the roller overturned and caught fire my brother was ejected to the ditch some 50 feet away i hear thankfully miraculously my brother survived he will never be quite right hes stuck in 2015 getting new teeth can't taste food really and is hard of hearing and who knows how long till he goes altzimers but he can eat talk walk drive he has awful short term memory but he survived im so greatful for that every day... my dad while feeding his cows like he did every day was almost killed by one of his texas long horns during covid was just a typical evening out feeding the one went after him ended up slicing up his face really bad all up and around his eye towards his ear it was gruesome idk if he will ever have longhorns again but he sure did love those horns before the accident...
@@jdjd962 I'm sorry to see that about your brother. My father worked road construction for over 40 years. It's crazy on the roads these days.
Your dad's encounter with the longhorns reminds me of a farmer I knew who had a bull that he raised from a calf. It was like a pet dog to him. One day he was found dead in the pen with the bull which had apparently attacked him.
@@tiredoldmechanic1791 wow makes me even more greatful he survived
Getting started on harvest always seems to have its challenges. Cherish the moment working with your Dad, I've lived more of my life without him than with him. Keeping the injured person in my thoughts and prayers. Despite our best intentions and careful work habits, accidents still can happen.
Do you just switch the combine from soybeans to corn, or do you take something off and change it?
Work is NEVER done on a farm.
Grain bins are always dangerous places to work. Explosions are another hazard.
I can change the rotor covers in our class 750 made in 2012 in 10 seconds. Also why for the love of peat do you not have a bushel plus. You spent a million on equipment that doesn’t need to be upgraded what’s a few grand on a drop pan
Does your Thunder Creek trailer have the ability to jump start dead equipment?
Long ago worked at CAT dealer. Always blew out air filters 1st and 2nd stage .
But wat taught to blow from inside out. Opposite air flow.
Blow dirt OUT of filter not into filter.
Zach you've been... THUNDERRR STRUCK!!!!
O was that the manufacturer who says don't blow out an air filter?. A micro partical filter yes change big one blow out 3 times then change !😊
No need to change the speed belt for the feeder house. We quit changing our belt speed years ago and never went back. Our deere mechanic recommended it.
Finally I know why you say thunder every time... I'm drooling 🤤🤤🤤🤤 lol lightning ⚡
friend of mine couple years ago. walking across feeder house cleaning windows with platform running slow another man oiling gathering chains. foot slipped lost leg from knee down. one of the safest farmers i know in my 70 years. happened so fast. please one and all be carefull
Prayers for the injured man. Keeping all farmers in my prayers 💕🙏🏼
non digital called analog... just for the records.... keep it between the rows, in corn, or soybeans...
Praying for him and you guys also during harvest 🙏. Just remember slow down everyone needs to go home to family safely. 🙏
I know osha dont have much say so in agriculture on private property but for pete sake dont get in or around running augers, ptos, any piece of moving machinery.
Why not just go from the combine to the truck? Bypass the grain cart. Seems like a waste of fuel.
I'm honestly a little disappointed in you. You get a brand new thunder trailer and don't say thunder the first time you opened it?! For shame!
Several years ago a 19 year old kid here where I am from was in a bin and got covered up and died on his 19th birthday on Christmas Day.
Prayers for the man who was injured. Another thing that should be added for the non-farmers. Watch out on the road, it's harvest season, lots of farm equipment on the road, drive safely and sensibly. Give the equipment and farmers some room.
Have a good harvest. Need a Jim update
I always found PTO shafts to be easier to deal with when I grease the shit out of them, however I’m not sure if one would run into issues with corn dust then. Any thoughts on this?
My God Bless this Family.
Not only is the new fuel trail improved, on the side in big cool letters it says …….
Really new thunder graphics on the 6x next year!
Zack u might try hydrated lime program for your down corn field works well for the soil and stalk strength, we are on a 3 yr program it's free in my area from our local city water treatment plant
bless you
As a non-farmer, I would have little use for that new Thunderrr trailer. But man do I want one all of a sudden!
I've used an air compressor on a so don't worry about it saves a little bit of money and on your farmer friend my prayers go with him keep up the good work
