Rory - STOP IT!. Just . . . stop it! When I retired, I had a 'Bucket List'. I now have a 'Rory List' which I reckon I will have to live to about 117 years to complete. Still love your work, and still want to see more. Well done mate!
@@RoryDing never, ever stop! 😂 We all need a “Rory List”. I live in Perth and go to Mrs Mac seconds shop and buy the pies and sausage rolls at 1/3 of the price. We absolutely love ALL that Mrs Macs make. One of my favourite is the spinach and ricotta roll. YUm!
Hi Rory. Truly spectacular scenery. !!! I bet the other good thing about getting on and off the plane so often, was being able to use the airport loos ! 🤣
i have never heard of these places. i dont know what tours would cover, the places look pretty baron. you did well covering all those flights in 6 hours. thank you for your honesty when reporting about either the airlines, prices or food etc. im sure im not the only one who appreciates this. great vid.
The Saab 340 looks great, Rory. Truly fascinating seeing the countryside. Thanks for showing me Karumba and NOrmanton. My grandmother was born in the latter way back in 1899. Wonderful!
Back in 1975, I flew to Tasmania from Bundaberg, The Brisbane to Melbourne leg, there was two 727 , one went directly to Melbourne, our flight, the other flight went to Sydney then Melbourne, just after we sat down an announcement was made that this flight was going directly to Melbourne, Half of the people on the plane were on the wrong flight, So much for checking passengers before boarding, both planes were packed next to each other on tarmac them days 😀🤠🇦🇺
Rory I hope you do the Gulflander and Savanahlander trains soon. On my last list of Qld rail tours and looking late 2022. I need to get your reports so I know if the cape has Mrs Macs pie’s in store! Lucky Townsville has plenty so I can do a Rory video splurge and eat one watching along!
That would’ve been an eventful flight. Flying from different towns and seeing different landscapes. Love to do the milk run flight. One of your best flight videos
Great food selection and another good video ;). I had to do a similar series of flights (work related) once and the safety announcements did my head in after the 2nd take off.
Fantastic video Rory. Years ago I missed my flight from Townsville to Brisbane, so was put on a replacement flight that went via Cairns, then Uluru before heading to Brisbane.
I just came back from this run, and I did the W2 as well. Finally, after a year of delays, I finally did it. Suppose with covid-19, we were allowed off the aircraft anymore so we only took a break in Normanton. I'd do it again in a heartbeat if it wasn't so damn expensive! Hahaha... Thanks for the memories 🙂
The Gulflander train and what's got to be the shortest flight in Australia.... Normanton is so on my bucket list :) - The Wellesley islands look stunning too.
Thank you, this so educational for someone who lives in the busy city of Melbourne to see the top end of Australia through your eyes 👍 Also, the detail about the aeroplanes size, age etc. is great content for my little son who aspires to be a pilot. Thankyou 😁
Seems like such a stunning flight. Some of the stops look like some interesting places, so I would like to thank you for showing me them. This flight reminds me of the United Island Hopper. As always a stunning video Rory!
Hi Rory, what an amazing journey and what beautiful landscapes are seen in this video. I remember Sydney Domestic Airport when it was possible to stand outside and observe the aircraft which were mostly prop aircraft with the Focca Friendship being extremely popular. I have never enjoyed flying but often venture to the airport in Sydney to do some planespotting. I also remember taking a mystery flight from Sydney and had no idea of the destination until arriving at the departure gate. I was very lucky and got a short flight to Canberra and my friend flew to Perth. These mystery flights were very popular with people who enjoyed flying. Thanks again and I look forward to your next adventure.
Wow 6 hrs flying and all you get is 2 lousy snacks, 2 cups of coffee or tea, and a few bottles of water, thank god for the kiosk at Normanton is all I can say, definitely think the direct flight to Cairns is the way to go.
Hi Rory, thanks for the educational flight video, in September I'm flying cairns to isa directly and I'm so excited (also excited because I get to see my best friend lol)
Rory you might be interested to know that on an airliner, at least, there is a small steering wheel type device, on the Captain's side (left) of the cockpit that's used to turn the nosewheel, and thus 'steer' the aircraft when it's on the ground. I went on a similar underground tour in 1986 at Broken Hill with a company called Delprats (I believe it's now closed), it was an interesting and awesome experience, especially when they asked everyone to turn off their lights and you get the pitch black.
Good on you Roy it's such a pleasure to watch this I would love to do that trip 1 day you are so so lucky I have been to some of the town you're talking about and they are a must see keep up the good job I look forward to seeing the next one and I wonder where you will be going to next.
Back in 1990s, even international flights used to suggest passengers to disembark from the plane at stopover to stretch out and have a glimpse of regional Australia. In those days flights from Singapore to Melbourne used to stop in Adelaide.🙂
Loved seeing this video, you didn't mention the price...I've done a Milk Run up there delivering mail picking up anything and absolutely everything long day but worth it so much cheaper and fun...
Similar comment to the one I made regarding the Transwa Australind. Not residing in Australia, I get interested in watching the Milk Run content because you introduce Mount Isa first.
Thanks for a really interesting video Rory - such variety on the milk run! If you are going to do the Gulflander train from Croydon to Normanton you should definitely combine that with the Savannahlander from Cairns to Forsayth - from there you can take a bus connection to Croydon to pick up the Gulflander.
That was an awesome trip!! Not sure l could do it but the views made it so worthwhile. Bit disappointed you didn't try a Pie though in Normanton 😉. The 10 min flight wow l never knew there was one so short, that must be a world record. What's with the "alcohol management programme?" seems to be a big deal made of that😏. Thankyou so much for this epic trip it was worth the wait👍
Rory your videos keep getting better and I' m learning and discovering plane and train destinations I didn,t know any thing about. Excellent. Only two questions. Where do you find the time. 2. Where do you find the money. Honestly though keep up the good work.
While driving from Brisbane to Darwin in 2006 I spent the night in Mount Isa. The hotel owner advised me to cover the front of my car in fly screen because of the insects I would encounter in the NT. I bought some and zip tied it to my bull bar. It was good advice. The clouds of locusts and dragon flies were huge.
Great video. I'm on ZL5453 17th March and ZL5661 18th March. Very excited. I'm pretty sure I had selected my seats though they are not displaying on the eTicket. I hope I get 9A or 10A.
Adventurous Journey... Wine and Noodles or Spaghettis next time please.. Lucky Traveler mate... Cheers, Pradeep. Pollachi,Tamilnadu-South India (CJB Airport)
You have convinced me to do this flight. How did you get to Mt.Isa? I was thinking a train journey up from Brisbane and then pick up this amazing Rex journey and then get the Tilt Train back from Cairns. Thanks for a great video.
I did tilt train business to Rocky Spirit of Qld to Townsville Then Inalnder to mount Isa Otherwise Rex also has a milk run from Brisbane to mount Isa with around 6 stops in between I think
Great video. Any reason you have to get off at most airports?I would assume it adds more time to ground stops. Fascinating use of no flaps, you were clearly aware why so not too worrying.
Great vids. I've watched a few now ... Very detailed. Most RUclipsrs would aim the camera out the window a few times and say there you go matey, theres your fkg video!!! (-: ... Living in Cairns a few years I have always wondered about some of those destinations and thought I might be missing out on some tropical palm treed magic destinations. But obviously not!!! ... I notice the wheels on plane fold up forwards. I wonder if this is done so if the wheel fold down mechanism fails, then they can simply rely on the wind pressure to make the wheels go down and click into place??? ... PS. How old is the worker in the underground mine at beginning? Looks like in his seventies! ... I thought those big income guys retired at around fifty five? ... Cheers.
Rory - Great vid! P.S. Did the SAAB 340 hit a sparrow at 23:30 mins (landing in Karumba)? Wouldn't have done much damage, but there seems to be a bit of debris over the wing? EDITED: Locusts. My bad...
Hi Andre At 23:26? I don’t think it actually hit it, feels like a near miss, I certainly didn’t feel that the plane hit anything when I was onboard. And the “debris” are those insects/flies I think.

Wow! thank you!!😊😊😊
Love your production Rory, ...you should be on Getaway mate,.👍👍👍
Milk Runs are quite Interesting. Great Video which is very Informative.
that was fun, thank you Rory, I always love the milk runs (nice to see Byron Bay Cookies on the flight)
Hi Rory.
Truly spectacular scenery. !!!
I bet the other good thing about getting on and off the plane so often, was being able to use the airport loos ! 🤣
True 🤣
What an amazing way to spend a day! I just🙏 this essential route isn't scuppered by the financial situation!
Well done 👍🏻 enjoyable vid Rory as I needed to kill time till WT28 returned from Dubbo
This must be one of your most interesting videos ever. Thank you very much.
i have never heard of these places. i dont know what tours would cover, the places look pretty baron. you did well covering all those flights in 6 hours. thank you for your honesty when reporting about either the airlines, prices or food etc. im sure im not the only one who appreciates this. great vid.
Hi Rory, just gotta say I love Mrs Macs Pies as much as you, thanks for the video (as always)….
Great approach shot into Karumba... You can see the plane's shadow beneath on the ground! 😀
That was fab Rory, from red dust to tropics. Stunning.
Awesome video Rory really enjoyed this one
Wow interesting to see some very remote areas of Australia
Just what i needed on a wet Saturday in Sydney - pie review! Great video as always
I'm so happy your doing flight reviews again missed it
Very informative and an opportunity for those like me who are unlikely to ever do this trip. Cheers for sharing.
Thanks
Thank You so much for posting this video , brings back so many happy memories for me .
I lived in Mt Isa & Cairns for many years .....Great work. 👍
Outstanding video Rory!!! This one was so good that I watched it twice!!!
Your videos are the best! Keep up the great work!
love cairns. thanks for sharing this video..stay safe

Glad you had fun doing the milk run :)
OMG Rory, your knowledgeable eye for details just blows my mind every time!!! 😳 Absolutely amazing, as per. previous comment.

I've actually got the W2 planned in winter to ISA. Can't wait! Thanks for the insight!
Great! W2 would be really fun!!
@@RoryDing yeah the plans were thwarted this year due to the lockdown. My eventual destination is Cape York... You should head there one day!
We love you Rory.
great video rory. love when you do these videos where you do 3 or 4 flights in 1 video
Great vid Rory, your descriptions are really great
The Gulflander train and what's got to be the shortest flight in Australia.... Normanton is so on my bucket list :) - The Wellesley islands look stunning too.

Mystery flight sound really fun! I wish airlines would still do it!
The flight from Normanton to Cairns must have seemed like an eternity! Since I like taking off and landing this would be a perfect way to travel.
We really need to see the Normanton train review. Hope you can find the time to do it soon. Well done on this interesting set of flights.
Thanks enjoyed every minute ☺️
Great vlog on the REX milk run. So educational too , well done Rory
Thank you Rory for another wonderful video!
Very interesting and informative, thankyou.
Please do that train review in Normanton!

Nice one Rory, I really like flying in those Saab's they've got a great feel about them - much preferred to the long bodied Qantas prop-jet option! 😉
Yeah the smaller the better 🤣
Nice one Rory. Last time I flew into Isa I was on a beautiful Ansett B727. My favourite aircraft. I miss it.
Another educational video Rory. 😃
I flew the Saab 340 in New England in the '80's (Delta Express) and then again in Florida on Silver Air...........a great and dependable plane!
