You should challenge that. HOAs do not have the power to prevent you from adding solar panels to your home. This sort of thing has been successfully challenged in the past (most notably with satellite dishes) and deemed to be an overreach by the HOA. They can not restrict you from access to basic services or force you to choose a specific service provider. By not allowing you to have solar, they are forcing you to do just that.
@@WillZiacoma If the price of solar ever gets to be cheap enough in our area to be worth it I totally will. Sadly our HOA had a vote to change that rule about a year ago and it supposedly failed.
This is probably a very small point for most people, but a problem that I ran into growing up in Carmel is how massive the schools are. Yes, they are great schools and offer an amazing education and fun surroundings, but the middle schools are well over 1000 and the high school is right around 5000. It's so massive that it's hard to make connections with people unless you're in an extracurricular. The problem I saw was I would have a class with someone I got along with and enjoyed hanging out with, but after that class was done the likelihood of having another class with that person was pretty much 0. I would just never see that person ever again since the school was so massive. I was in marching band, and still to this day I cannot name a single person outside of marching band, and even the marching band is so big it's hard to make connections with a good number of people. I can't remember anyone from my classes and I have only kept contact with 3 people in the whole school, including marching band. I know most of you aren't kids, but if you have kids this should be something to consider. And I don't think Carmel High School will ever split like the Fishers HS's did
The good schools, access to art and culture, and all around diversity bringing delightful food is frightening. The cost is great but it depends where you are moving from. Moving from the DMV? This place is a steal. You can enjoy Indy or run up to Chicago instead of NYC. It is sooooo much easier and you get all the international city amenities without the hassle. Moving from Houston? You will never look back. I laugh at what they consider traffic and you get all the friendliness and fun of the suburbia without being fully in a city vibe. Are you from LA? You will need to learn to enjoy the beauty of 4 seasons and you may need to adjust to what others think is traffic. Enjoy the smell and beauty of fall and spring while jumping to the local sledding spots with a hot cocoa in winter. Their HOAs are so chill compared to other places. If Carmel still isn't for you, whatever you do.... don't even consider Noblesville. The charm will leave you in shock. Better to stay away. Cost and competition is relative. This guy does a good job of trying to be a devil's advocate.

Nice video 👍
Funny how higher taxes for everyone make things easier?
funny 😂
If you are in IN during winter keep a snow shovel in the trunk just in case.
For HOAs ours does not allow us to have solar panels.
Definitely a good idea!! 👍

Carmel is bigger, but if you want better schools and have the money Zionsville is more expensive.

I hear you on the charm of Noblesville, haha! 😂

You're missing out!! Trust me, the spring through fall makes it worth it haha. Thanks for watching!
