When local accounts are removed from Windows, Windows will be removed from my local computers.
Just don't tie your PC to an account to begin with.
Already walked. Microsoft is insane.
I left Microsoft as of yesterday.
@@SirMannyAngel Your momma must be so proud of you.
@@MrPir84free it's redundant to say you hate Windows because of the account when you add an account to Linux. It's just plain dumb.
I am so glad that I am retired and no longer have to deal with Microsoft operating systems.
Same here, Ubuntu FTW
Been testing a bit myself again! Ubuntu (again), seemed kind of messed up on version 24.
Then tried Fedora 40 and was much better and on a i3 1.7Ghz 12Gb memory laptop. Not bad.
I will retire too in less than 2 years. The big change may be coming!
I found that also Win11 22H2 version has disappeared, although for those that need it... for now.. it in in the Web archive, very slow download
That tells you all you need to know about the new Microsoft path of POOP💩💩💩
I recently Forced a 22H2 install and blocked or uninstalled most bloatware on a i5 Intel and it now flies!
For how long?
Linux? This time I am really coming. Could still use a windows pc Offline if needed for some apps!
One day... I hope.
Ya not to mention Xbox it goes with Microsoft an im going to Linux stuff like Linux mint or Debian 12 stuff like that ☺️
I switched to Linux last month. I won't look back. The more I hear about the bullshit that Microsoft is pulling, the more I'm glad I switched.
I guess you weren't a smart PC user. No wonder you switched to Linux.
Welcome.
@@NotMarkKnopfler I am so glad I broke free from the Linux cult. You people treat it more like a religion than a hobby. No thank you.

"In Soviet Russia...
Major companies like Microsoft (and RUclips with its impotent prohibition against adblockers) have some gall dictating to us what happens on computers we own. I genuinely think we need to push back hard against this now before it gets any worse than it already is. When I purchase a computer, it is mine. I get to decide what software is installed on it and how it is used; not Microsoft.
Maybe I would watch the advertisements if they were not scams.
DAMN STRAIGHT! To hell with Microsoft!
its possible to force microsoft to change once they start losing customers and everyone switches to linux
and thats not happening for now linux is not mainstream yet but i hope that it becomes mainstream in the future and competes with windows (it kind of is already competing with windows)
Everything connected with one account.. compromise one device, everything is compromised. No matter how unlikely that might be. The disadvantages of the local accounts they are peddling could be seen as advantages.
Or if your internet is down, you just cant get to your files.
I could see a massive pushback once MS proposes this as they did with their spyware 'recall"
Also that's a hell of a lot of training data for AI once MS has everyone's files on the cloud.
@@del69blue I believe no matter what MS will do, our good Samaritans in the tech world will find ways around them
That's why I stopped using a Microsoft account years ago.
I’m really glad Linux is available
Imagine how dystopian the digital world would be with only Apple and Microsoft OSes
Why don't people start a Class Action Lawsuit since is forcing an Internet access to access a Microsoft account than Microsoft has to provide free access to a ISP/INTERNET to connect to Microsoft for Microsoft account & updates!!! If Microsoft doesn't provide a portal to do what they want then we should SUE MICROSOFT for forcing themselves on to people!!!
Because most people are complacent, and will just go along with it like sheep, and the rest of us sadly don't have the time, and/or money to higher a law firm with big enough balls to take on the juggernaut that is Microsoft, but if you have the time, money, and balls then go for it, otherwise don't complain why other's don't do it, because now ya know why!!
A class-action lawsuit that only fine's Microsoft less than a 0.1% of their rev? Sure, that'll teach Microsoft what they're doing is bad!
/sarcasm but not actually sarcasm.
I don't think you know what "complacent" means. What you actually meant was "confortable".@@CommodoreFan64
@@GHOSTSTARSCREAM that another good point, it's gonna take a large government with another antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft for anything to happen, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

@231pilot - Welcome 🤝
This is getting scary. The benefits are for Microsoft, not us.
I see why some governments are trying to move to Linux.
Years ago there was a move in US DOD to move from Windows to Linux operating systems. This would allow IT personnel complete control and openness for reviews and actions. They could prove abiding by all laws and save lots of federal funds; almost free, because Windows licenses were expensive.
It was turned down by senior management which is why Bill Gates and Microsoft own the world now, including all of those military and intel networks.

The governments want Microsoft to make it easy for them to access EVERYONE's files.
Meanwhile, the governments are moving to Linux to keep all their sleazy information away from the people!

I moved to Linux Mint after Microsoft wiped out 40 years of data after I unsubscribed to the Office 365. Mind you, I never placed any data on one drive or the cloud. I just didn't renew a domain that I had bought that had came with Office 365. I was so pissed, that I will never go back. I lost college papers, work papers, etc,. Linux runs everything now except for highly invasive kernel level cheat detectors, which you should not allow onto your computer anyways. There's 15000+ other games that do play well in Linux.
Not to mention tons of abandonware games. Between Lutris and DosBox there's probably not many oldies that won't run. In fact in many cases they run better than on Win10
Unfortunately there are things that don't run on Linux, such as many audio plugins, many which are expensive and that musicians and others have collections they've invested in for years. : / But it is great that Valve, GE, and others have been putting a lot of effort into getting gaming and other things working great on Linux, and I give props to them.
It does not 'run everything' (and some things that do run may not run as well on Linux) but there are a lot of people who could get away with running Linux if they wanted to. The whole "it just works!" when that isn't 100% true just frustrates people who DO try Linux and don't have a good first impression when everything doesn't just work.
I have some windows programs that need the .NET framework that I can't get going on Linux. So, those programs live on a Win 10 machine that is powered up just when I need those programs. I a a full time Linux user now.
@@nadtz This is what happened to me multiple times before I switched to Fedora and it was a much better experience than LM. I also tried Zorin OS but I did not like the fact that it was slow on updates just like LM. Also, when I tried LM, Cinnamon DE kept crashing over and over. SO ANNOYING!
I recently changed to Linux Mint. Why? well initially, because my Win-10 PC HDD failed and was beyond me to fix, or receive data from. I panicked, purchased a new PC, and found it is on WIN-11. Oh! how I dreaded tangling with Win-11. So I started restoring my records and options from my flaky memory. Win-11 is awful, and so invasive / controlling. Meantime the OLD HDD was replaced and put on Linux Mint. That left me with two computers Win-11 and Linux Mint. Almost immediately I found I much preferred Linux Mint. It is my daily-driver. Win-11 gathers dust in the back room - but upon the news in your video, I am warming to replacing the HDD in the Win-11 PC and exploring another Distro on it - just for fun Thanks.
You do realize that ssds have been a thing for easily more than 12 years now right. That old windows 11pc you can remove the stores drive from it if it's not an SSD and regardless if it's a SSD or hard drive you can nuke that installation of windows in a stall whatever else you want to. You might need to disable secure boot as well as fast startup in your UEFI bios
Why didnt you get SSD and put it on it? It makes a difference
@@motoryzenYour point being? SSD's are still limited in storage capacity compared to hdd's.
@GHOSTSTARSCREAM dude..there are 8Tb and even a scarce bit of 16TB ssds out there...
Now yes..price as usually vs hdds for ssds is easily more than double or 5x..
But if you need more than 4TB of os drive involved storage...either you have a megabutt ton of games you want installed on samw drive your Os lives on...or you are exaggerating tour storage needs or how those needs are prioritized.
It is not rocket science..it's 2024..if you can't afford even a 500GB crucial ssd...you have either an income crisis or monetary management mentality problem involving prioritizing what matters
@@GHOSTSTARSCREAM high capacity HDDs are usually enterprise grade and very expensive just like SSDs there is little difference in pricing.
This is why, as a programmer, I've always despised the move in the last 20 years from C++ and native application development to web apis and interpreted languages like javascript, php, python. You're no longer creating software directly communicating with a local chip at all, you're making applications for the browser. Honestly, the way things are going, it's like there really is some grand conspiracy to get all of your applications, all of your digital 'stuff' behind an authentication gate in where they own your username and password. Imagine being a scientist in the year 1920, having private research papers all held at some mafia thugs place, a place where they ask you for a password every time you enter their place for your own documents.
Think harder.
Roots of modern computing is in mainframes used in terminal machines. Idea is maintenance. It is much simpler IT when data and taking backups are in single place.
Native applications came when we got microcomputers and they didn't always have modems or they are very slow or expensive. Including infrastructure.
But terminal connections started to get common in microcomputers but native applications stayed because of graphical user interfaces and need to run also some code in locally.
Then we got web and it shaped fast to be like terminal connections with graphics. Then UI needed to some special requirements to run code locally if native application was justified, or some other reason to run code locally. Goal was clear, we got Java Applets, Flash Player and ActiveX so developers can create almost everything to standard based browser application but if there is some component that was not possible, there was temporarily workaround to use non-standard component technology.
And then we got jQuery what basicly started Javascript revolution. We now got technology for remote applications with UI and way to run code locally where it was needed using standard based technology.
For developer and user, there is huge benefits that code is written using standards. It is compatible, for both backward and forward and easy to develop. Native applications are in practice, impossible to make compatible with every device got so native applications are inferior. It is very rare that native code is justified to get better application.
Web doesn't enforce authentication gate. You can run web application in local network if you want. Some work applications also keep data in browser (Apple don't like these).
You also forgot that from C++, that it is awful. Microsoft had terrible issues with C++ so they went to C#. Nokia used C++ and they failed to have it proper technology to applications and they disappeared from the mobile market. It is C++ complexity and same time hard to make stable ABI with that caused all C++ issues. C++ ABI was actually standardized for Linux based operating systems and that failed too because they break that standard every decade.
There is no conspiracy. There are standards to make computers and programming simple. Browser has been the standard technology to make user interfaces. Developers doesn't need to care what happens below browser in technology stack. What happens there is that large corporations like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung etc. want to put something between user and things what users do. They want to put brand there and use their foothold as a showcase to own services or for advertisements. There is a lot of unnecessary crap, or limitations what they do.
Installing and setting up a Linux distro is not the problem. It is programs and games that only work under Windows, with Linux alternatives not as good either. You got to judge it by use case. Having said that, I don't support Microsofts' draconian tactics either!
I'm a gamer and have been for years. I was able to switch to PopOS a couple years ago full time. All my games work including Steam, EA, GOG, and Epic. I just use Steam, Lutris, and Heroic. I haven't had any issues with finding other applications for doing the things I do. Just takes a bit of getting used to how things work and you are good to go. Not everything is as good but lots are. Depends what you do on your PC I guess but I was completely successful in making the move and I bet others would be pleasantly surprised.
Using a Linux version of a game is like using a Nintendo Wii version of a PS5 game. Totally not the same experience.

Which Linux distribution and desktop environment did you switch to? Are there any particular questions or problems you have yet to be able to resolve or get answers for?
@@motoryzen I switched to Mint Cinnamon since it's the most familiar going in. Got rid of OneDrive. I don’t like the idea of getting rid of local accounts considering if you’re trying to fix something. I think there may be a class action lawsuit happening if Microsoft doesn’t stop.
It seems that MSFT is doing all it can to ensure that Windows 10 users switch to Linux once Windows 10 goes EOL.
Actually, Microsoft has been quite successful. Not only have they convinced me not to use a local account, they've convinced me not to use their operating system altogether.
Install Windows without network hookup, then completely disable Windows update, use powershell to install only security updates.
I still use optical drives for installs and this is the newest reason.
With Rufus there is an optional checkbox when creating a bootable USB drive to skip creating a Microsoft account.
yes we can log into our pc without internet with Microsoft account linked pc... obviously things that need internet you cant use.. but offline gaming enabled games can still run.. and offline apps too..
Finally jumped to Linux two years ago. Everything works without online accounts or subscriptions! Kudos to the Linux Developers out there who spend their "free" time working on Linux! A good movie comes to mind "Anti-Trust".
When I want a friend to try Linux and I want to keep them as a friend, I give them PCLinuxOS. I love that community.
i switched to Linux partially thanks to you. Best tech decision I've taken in quite a long time.

I made the switch to Linux. A month ago glad I did
Followed their new instructions, now to be able to turn on my PC, i must setup these new "Microsoft Safety and Security cameras" that need to be able to see my screen at all times to make sure my computing is safe and secure.
Yes, it's an option in Rufus!
Microsoft's practice of forcing users to store personal data on their servers warrants scrutiny. In Europe, legal challenges against tech giants like Apple, Google, and Facebook have resulted in favorable outcomes for users' privacy rights. A similar approach could potentially be taken to address concerns about Microsoft's data storage policies.
I left Windows behind when W8 was rolled out! 12 years and no MS !!!!! 😊😊😊
I switched to Linux in 2001. That was even before MSWin XP.
I used to used Fedora for about a year, but actually prefer Garuda. Not so keen on Gnome desktops because some things are tricky to arrange there or extension are needed.
Another most interesting thing that I noticed with Windows 10 & 11 is that setting up file shares suddenly was hardly ever used on a LAN. Windows 10 also added a firewall and internet became better. It is now still not so easy to properly share folders between two Windows 10 computers. Also the fact that SMB went through 3 major version differences since the early days, did not help.
I use Lubuntu which uses LXQt. I'm a Linux noob and don't really know if it's a good thing or not, but can say it works for what's needed, and Lubuntu thankfully isn't as bulky as Ubuntu
Just the way MS Windows takes control of your system JUST FOR UPDATES is telling.
Yes if you are offline with a Microsoft account it will allow you to log in. Without the internet it just does not merge your settings if you made any changes on another system until network is restored. Mind you this only works for a computer you have logged into with an internet connection at least once otherwise you just get a generic error.
You can also use a program called shut up 10 Which also works on windows 11 And what it does is shut down all of these telemeties
Eversince i installed linux for a python class in vocational. I started drawing in krita and i only hot back to windows just fir gaming, but now even for gaming i use Linux, and windows is gathering dust on my old SSD, unupdated, unactivated.
Idk, i might use that old SSD as a cache in my nas someday.
It's like Microsoft planned this all this time
They want everything done via cloud so they can limit control everything you do .
Went to my storage using right now after watching this to get my old laptop to install Linux and experiment. Once I feel comfortable, I will move my main laptop over also. I use Debian for almost all the servers I manage, so I'm going to start there and see how she goes.
Those cheep N100 computer (or refurbished business PCs sold for peanuts) look more and more recommendable for people willing to try Linux too. They can keep their windows machine for gaming / specific work suite stuck on windows and have a private Linux machine the size of a book that does internet stuff and productivity easy and is a practical alternative to portable Linux because I believe that a lot of people nowadays feel stuck because of those two use case.
Switched to Linux about a year ago. No longer think about Windows. Peaceful.
Next step: look for MS to refuse a local account when using Win Pro on a "domain" unless there's a validation of the user from an Exchange domain server.
Are YOU the target market for Microsoft?
- under 25, ideally a tween.
- don't know or care what an operating system is.
- love widgets oh my widgets. They tell us the latest news on Kim Kardashian's butt size. Essential to know.
- Don't care about control, privacy or ads everywhere in Windows.
Then Windows is for YOU! You'll love Windows 11!
Where is the butt size widget? And more importantly where do they sell internet-of-things butts?
i signed with accout in vm but after cutting out internet connection i dont had any problem logging in to pc but pop ups from ms bs was everyone especially this onedrive thingy
Honestly pop os has been amazing for me. I have a windows gaming laptop, buuuut my school laptop has alot of games that run perfect using pop os.
The Rufus option is awesome! You can remove the requirements for a microsoft account amongst most Microsoft bloatware. That was the fastest install of windows ever with all the Microsoft programs taken out. Was able to install in about a minute and a half. Only had 4 programs once installed. Local account. And used another program to pause updates for 2 years, clean the registry. And only install security updates with a 4 day pause. It is so much work and nonsense to go through to make your pc yours and have been trying different linux distress lately learning more
The first thing I do on my Windows machines is blocking any communication to M$.
If my favorite Games would run on Linux, I wouldn't need Windows anymore.
Some Windows Software I need for my Work runs fine on older Windows versions within a VM, of course, without Internet access!
Well, I believe that ALL games that will never work on Linux have invasive, Kernel-level cheat detectors -- which you shouldn't have in your PC, anyway.
How do you block that?
@@pantarei. First Stage: fill your "hosts" file with known Microsoft DNS names. There are many examples out there. Second stage: watch the IP traffic and block it on your router. The second stage is a little bit paranoid, because most communication is blocked by the DNS entries. But who knows when M$ begins to ignore the hosts file ore ? It's only to be prepared 😉
I realized the time I spend trying to get local account by trying RUclips guides and doing weird registry hacks, is better spent installing and learning Linux. Linux knowledge persists, Windows knowledge is always outdated a year later. Learn Linux once and you have it forever. Linux has improved immensely over the years.
they can try, but its gonna be real awkward when their already flaking customer base continues to fade away even further as a result of draconian practices; also requiring internet connection to log into YOUR OWN COMPUTER makes no sense and someone will definitely find a workaround or just take the risk and remain on old MS OS or - move to Linux or something
I still have plenty of local accounts everywhere 😂 and they haven't been deleted.
When I first got my laptop, I was setting it up in a location with a near zero internet connection. I was actually stuck behind windows 11 gate keeping to even just get into my brand new machine. This reasonably upset me. I was able to bypass the internet connection but this is untenable for me personally. If I cannot use my laptop in locations with no internet, why the hell do I even have it? It is not beyond my ability to just start at a bare bones Linux install and install packages as needed. The only thing thats had me reluctant to switch to Linux is the inconvenience of getting the games I want to play running on it, and that is looking far more palatable than the mentality that companies are pushing that you don't really own what you own.
You can log in without internet (at least with password, idk about that windows hello nonsense) but it complains. Knowing microsoft though, they might try to neuter local installs soon, I wouldn't be surprised If windows eventually is just a browser soon though, running on their Linux based servers, of course, they know what OS is better.
I am advising family who run Windows 11, for their own safety to either seriously reconsider and switch to Linux or to immediately reinstall Windows 10, and learn how to keep it from updating to 11.
I've got news for you you're not going to keep Windows 10 in the end from Auto changing to Windows 11 when Microsoft feels it's time. As long as that computer is connected online to the internet. The Windows updates engine is built into the windows core AKA kernel and you don't have anything access to that any more than I or anyone else does except for those who work for Microsoft in the operating system software development department
If you want to keep windows 10 unplug it from the internet
@@motoryzen you can tweak it, so you CAN keep 10, I did it for my sister and she has no issue
@@Aki-kh2qe-StreetKidZZZ look.. I've been there and done that. I know all about Chris Titus Tech's debloat scripts that do awesomw thinga to let you temporarily get control of what is suppposed tp be your PC again, and honestly God bless him for his sincere efforts to fight against Microsoft.
But, the fact remains that none of these third-party software tools have editing access to the windows kernel.
So while they might temporarily do what they claim they're going to do and inevitable update is going to undo what that tool has done, and in the end you'll have to redo it over and over whether it's once a month or whether it's twice a year. Nothing defeats that fact because none of these tools have any access to the windows core AKA kernel which is where the Windows updates engine and the Telemetry engines live in
Facts don't care about anyone's feelings on this. You can pretend like you have control over whether or not Microsoft owns your computer all you want to but as long as your PC that boots into Windows is connected to the internet, you do not own it and, and history has proven that Microsoft can and will do what they want with such a PC anytime they wish
The only way to get true real ownership and control over what is supposed to be your PC is to Nuke windows and install a Linux operating system into that storage Drive
And thus My overall point is, why continue to do the same things you've always done and expect different results AKA waste your time trying to fight against an operating system that doesn't allow you to own what is supposed to be your PC and doesn't allow you local at least on the operating system level on your computer real privacy versus choosing to spend time to learn about an operating system that actually respects your privacy and actually respects the fact that you are supposed to be able to own what is supposed to be your PC and not leasing or renting it
I'm sorry to sound like a parrot as some would probably call me for this next comparative analogy, but Dave Ramsey said it best.
Quote it's not a math problem. It is a behavior problem. It is the guy in the mirror that one must address"
It is a mentality change that is necessary. You need to get away from the mentality that you need Windows the only real exceptions is involving software that does not work in Linux one way or another even VA virtual machine running windows inside of it and this involves an employer that requires that in order for you to continue getting a paycheck
For me, it all started when MS announced Windows 11 and it's arbitrary hardware requirements. Apparently, this was to force users to purchase new computers and to abandon older equipment that is more than capable of running Windows 11. The EOL of Windows 10 was another indication that was time to change operating systems.
I've set up a computer just for Linux and having been working on what the best configuration for my needs. I first started with Pop OS but now I find Fedora more to my liking. It's been a learning experience for me and there are some things I had to resort to running a Windows VM for some applications.
It won't be long before Windows pushes out an update that will not allow you to log into the local account on your computer unless you create a Microsoft account.
bet it can be bypassed. like how the user is not restricted to be on only 'c:\Users\' or that the user profile folder name can be renamed, but they wont provide an easy interface to do it
@@STCatchMeTRACjRo Wouldn't you have to make that change before such a "security" update was rolled out? How would you do this if you can't even log in without a Microsoft account? Thanks for the reply. 🙂

It’s a option in Rufus
i noticed that logging into windows on my work pc sometimes takes a lot longer (or fails on first try) when i don't have an internet connection
Likely it's trying to reach out to your companies domain controller that it's part of and not related to MS sign in. My work computer has a MS account (we use Azure) and a Domain Account (which is what I use to sign in). When connection to the DC is broken for what ever reason it takes a while to sign in. There's likely a way to make it timeout faster but I haven't looked into it yet.
is your work computer under a domain, connected to the company's network, communicating with the company's servers? if so, it's possible that is causing the slowdown.
All I want to do is watch RUclips and write. Linux Mint for me.
7:38 Yes you can. It does the credential stuff locally, just you have to use your Microsoft account password and email to log in.
Or Windows Hello, which they ironically added as it lets you sign in with local credentials in a way that if they're stolen attackers don't automatically have access to everything you used your MS account for.
Kafka was way ahead of his time.
Microsoft is going to be the new Chromebook soon....I'm sure that's what they want to get to. For security it's got some good points...for privacy it's...well there is no privacy. Good video!

Well, you actually need google account to use Android or Chromebook, Apple account to use Mac... it has been like this for a long time. I don't like MS moves, but it is not surprising. It is very logical indeed.
And never forget - you can just use Ntlite to make your own Windows iso and create the local account just by default.

I'd love to switch to Linux and will do it tomorrow but I require an operating system that is compatible with games and modding. What is Linux like for music? Give me that then I'll look closer.
Don't pretend like Linux hasn't got problems with its various distro's. I don't Like Microsoft and Windows even less but it is functional to use Linux is a learning curve and one I would happily take if I would get the same functionality.
I use Win 11 and Microsoft have been trying to push the microsoft account for a few years now but I use the pro version and still am on a local account which was straight forward. There are various ways of getting round this one way is getting the business version and this will get rid of bloatware as well.
So is there a distro that is compatible with my Steam games, modding tools like Vortex etc. I don't mind using alternative stuff, for example I use open office. But the No.1 issue I would say that is stopping users like me jumping is, is my hardware going to be compatible and will there be drivers for it? Crack that and Linux will be more popular I guarantee it.
As I know Rufus still can make the media so that Local account is the thing and other things alsow is chosen (byepass tpm , cpu and other stuff.) I have used that metod a lot of times.
Someone somewhere will find a workaround. But my main OS is Manjaro. I have a Win 11 machine because I do IT support part time.
I've had Azure online computers not allow sign-ins without the internet... it was a nightmare to fix...This was over a year ago.
Hours ago I was having a conversation with someone in a Minecraft server about how Windows Recall was intentionally insecure because if nobody called them out on it, authorities would be allowed to browse your timeline using tools that wouldn't be freely available, unlike the TotalRecall tool whch blew the insecurity wide-open and how the whole AI push was to better disseminate massive amounts of data collected by various state actors and authoritative parties.
One comparison which would seem wild at first would be the factory management game Satisfactory and their "Unauthorised damage" prompt when you get hurt. This means there is _Authorised_ damage which can be performed to your suit and / or person. Likewise, TotalRecall is the unauthorised method of accessing one's timeline, while whatever tool Microsoft could had rolled out to 14-eyes countries would have been the authorised method. Combine this with AI sorting, and you might get roped into a trend-based dragnet where you're profiled and investigated based on your topics of interest. _Ew._
Well I guess I can always create a fictitous identity just to login. But that's still years away, as long as windows 10 can keep chugging along.
Except Windows 10 is EoL in 15 months.
@@SwitchedtoLinuxyou can still use Windows 10 after eol
Tbh this is literally telling your customers get out of my shop ! Don’t be surprised that yt is doing same !
I'm using Linux Mint right now.
What I have wondered since they started this stuff is if eventually there will be a subscription fee to use the cloud for Windows users?
Shift+F10 or other similar workaround with command line dosn't work any more.... I would bet that for at least half a year.
Is there a VM that lets you try out different versions of Linux?
All VMs let you. Just need to download the .iso file and boot your VM with that and you can test out any Linux distro you would like.
@@SwitchedtoLinuxthat what i am doing for when i found a solution to the problem i have with linux on bare metal (not with a vm) i will switch if linux is good for me or not
There is also live images - you can make an usb stick and boot and run linux from it to see how it works on your hardware.
I use linux. I couldn't care less what M$ does with its spyung OS.
Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows... that I will ever use. Windows 11 was unusable spyware. Linux has been great for me. Also using ChromeOS Flex for casual computing which I really like.
I hear you, and grin 'cause I don't do Microsoft anymore.
12:35 yup that happened to a guy that ran a ministry service in Germany they also closed his Gmail no reason was given. These companies are the worst.
7:30 Regarding if you can log into an MS accout without the Internet, I believe the answer is yes (though not the first time, if I understand things correctly). Basically you will get prompted to setup Windows Hello with a PIN code. This PIN cam be used like a password would be used and iirc, it works without an Internet connection. I believe it actually uses the TPM to do this in a secure way, so that's one of the technical reasons for the TPM requirement of Win 11 (though obviously the business reasons might not be technical).
I cannot comment on if it's possible to use the normal password for the MS account in this way, since I learned the above by fooling around with Windows 11 in a VM and just followed the instructions without bother to test just the password... However, when I was reading up on how to get RDP working with an MS account, it implied you can maybe use the password of your MS account for it, at least with RDP (didn't try it, I made a local account instead because that was simpler, so I don't know if you would need an internet connection to log in with the password).
MS is making what should be a simple thing overly complicated though an obtuse workflow (Windows Hello is probably a good thing itself, just the flow of doing anything outside of what MS wants is annoying).
TLDR: Yes, with Windows Hello. Maybe with MS account password, don't know.
Interesting. Windows can only be installed on devices that have Internet connectivity?
This is not going to end well for them...
Not true for windows 10 and its very easy to bypass on windows 11
Yep, mint and mx linux for total beginners(garuda is also worth a look), and someone who wants more control and tinker with stuff, endevour os or tumbleweed would be my choice!
Microsoft would not let me fully update one computer because it is on a local account. It would not update to the newest version of Windows which was fine for me.
This is when you thank the Samba Projecg and their effors to create a open-source Windows domain controler
I'm not having it. Ive used windows forever so things dont flow so well if i fire up Linux. But thats okay, it will come with time just as it was with windows.
I used to use ubuntu as a kid, but then I had to install windows because of online school... I'm really thinking of switching back, the only thing that's holding me back from it is my favourite game has no release for linux, only workarounds, like installing it in a virtual enviroment. I still have my local account because I just put my old ssd in my new laptop, but it has a lot of weird bugs because of some old remnant configurations, so if something major thing breaks that needs a clean install, I'll definitely go on linux... So, do you know any good ways to run genshin impact on linux(that preserves most of the performance, and doesn't require like 3+ hours of debugging)?
1. The command stopped working
1.a. You can edit the registry to do the same functionality
2. Rufus creates an answer file that alters the registry to allow a local account, same thing a 1.a. but does this for you
3. Best option if one *MUST* use windows is to install the IoT version that is stripped of all the bloat. I’m dual booting Garuda xfce and Win11 IoT as a test on a laptop
Linux developers need to *STOP!!!* making 10^10e256000 distros to just have a different desktop, eye-candy, file system, etc… and band together and make a really good distro. We don’t need 6,174 flavors of Debian, Red Hat, or Arch.
Options are great, but too many die because developers move on, get married, have children, change jobs, whatever. There should be no less than fifty to one hundred developers on a distro at any time to absorb these changes.
I make a new account every time I have to log into Windows
This is anti-competitive Internet Explorer all over again. Wonder if they'll be taken to court again so they can screw around in front of the judge and then get it thrown out. I mean, that's what they did last time.
