Good job...that will surely make life easier....If you take most of the cable off that your not regularly needing it will slow down your line speed a little and use less energy to lift...it moves the contact point of the cable to the drum closer to the axis...achieving less load leveraging.
@@barntt noobody is getting harmed if you observe safe use. Take it from someone with a lot of understanding & experience here. You can get a crane to do a job but must not trust it. The moulded ferrule have been seen to release the loop instantaneously on small section ropes on a rare occasion. even massive cranes have toppled, torn from mounts, and bent through the beam or boom. Take care not fear. Sweetie.
If you give me an email I can send you some close up pictures, oh and i would mod the winch with a momentary on off on switch while mounting on the crane my wireless controller just popped the bed and I put a switch on
I know this is a 2+ year old video. Use heavier battery cables to winch like COPPER jumper cables. A lot of burned up winches from too light of wires and always disconnect from battery when not using it. Cranes are great. For SAFTEY Never wrap your winch cable around Anything always lift from the hook with a chain or strap or shackle, if that cable gets ANY little nick or cut or kink it can break and KILL you. One more thing cranes are for LIFTING not PULLING!
Put a snatch block at the hook and hook the cable back to the under side of the boom so you will have 2 cables pulling the load at half the speed
MY THOUGHTS AS WELL.

Genius, I need this to take 1 ton marble sculptures on and off my trailer.
Never mind a new cable,........buy a belt....or suspenders. Your ass just cracked me up.
Don't worry about that cable. Go for it until it starts to pull apart
Awesome Idea Jack until somebody gets injured or KILLED!

Gloves, metal slivers are not fun. Awesome setup though;>)
How did you make the swivel part at the bottom. Love the simple concept and would like to build.

Change it to 6v. Should slow it down
Never did lift anything. Maybe use it ti pull up your pants!
Skip to 6:00 crack kills! Lol your kid moves the camera when he realizes it. nice build on the crane!
Yeah didn't realize pants were falling off...... thanks on the compliment!
