Dude, that thing is ready to snap!!!
Been racking my brains out how to setup a crane in my Toyota! Awesome idea going off towbar. I have to get a setup not to hurt myself any further! Top job !😊
The amount of deflection in the boom is a little worrying. But, it did the lift. But, I wouldn't trust it to do that kind of lift over and over again. Like said before. Some reinforcement would be a good idea. I am certified rigging, mobile, and overhead crane operator. Metal fatigue would be my main concern. Cool idea though, I am definitely stealing some of the design ideas. I like the double receiver idea a lot. Going to be using mine on lifting heavy vehicle parts on and off of my flatbed F250. Engines, etc. Don't want it to be a permanent attachment to my truck, so this works really well.
I really like the idea as well. I would change the execution a bit. I would really like to weld up something like this with my everlast this summer.

this is nice work nice truck crane you built now you just need a 3quater ton truck since this one get very low when you lift that 300 pound log
nice, I like that you did not have to drill the bed of the truck as other cranes require.
seen one similar and it had a foot on the bottom to transfer the weight on the ground and not on the frame. Very nice though,
That steel looked like it was at the top end of it's tensile limits there. Good idea, works well, but I probably wouldn't try lifting anything heavier

That's a LOT of moment (or torque) on that hitch connection. Might slowly warp and fatigue the metal there.
Great homemade crane though!

ya, great build, but the far end needs a scissor jack or something as such, you went down 6 + inches before you went up

Thanks for this educational video,
Great for dressing your deer harvest too
That’s impressive.
I noticed that the crane doesn't interfere with the ground either.
The crane bring the truck to the log😂
Good men! Amazing Work!!
That set up is nice, but I would worry about it coming down on my head.
sorry that is too slow for me. the chunk of wood was tall enough to lean on the floor of the truck and tip in. and yes I do it all the time.
Depends on how much you can lift though. That also requires more physical effort than using a crane with a pulley.
I think I would add a leg that goes to the ground under the column
Hey man, awsome job. Does the bottom bit need bearings or grease or anything or does it spin just fine?

Nice done
much too slow using a chain block when you can buy a ATV winch and fit it for peanuts .. Called working smarter not harder !!!! But I really appreciate the design of the crane ! Bravo !

I think I could have muscled it in and been on my way by the time he set that crane up.
Block & tackle's a bit slow...should attach an electrical winch to crane...not big price difference
Do they make one tall enough to hoist a refridegerator onto a pick up bed ?
удлиннить вниз и опора с подножкой на землю с фиксацией нужна - распределить нагрузку от точки напряжения
Good idea, but how bout modifying and engine crane (hydraulic pump), instead of
That would work but a chain hoist is much faster. How about having both for more flexibility, however that would make the hoist heavy or more hassle to assemble for each use.
Hi Bill, what melody did you selected for this video?
+1
Good idea but the whole thing needs refinement. Flexing once or twice is OK but fatigue will eventually set in...
