    Edwin jagger had to have changed the head design. The DE89 has more torque on the blade and is more efficient then the muhle r89. Regardless of amount of passes the muhle r89 left behind hair. I thought it was just my technique so I gave the muhle r89 to my dad & didn’t say anything. He gave it back right away & said the same thing “horrible at leaving stubble behind!”
    The muhle r89 I sold. The DE89 I love! Very smooth & efficient!

    I remove all the soap from my brush at the end and put it on my face. I leave it there while I clean up the bathroom. I got it from another shaving channel. Gives awesome post shaves & I feel like I didn’t “waste” any soap left at the end. Try it out.

    You mention Tahoe in this video. I'll be taking a family trip there for 5 days next week. It'll be my first summer trip to Tahoe. They've all been winter trips in the past, pre family. Looking forward to it!

    Great video, Heiko! I agree that it's better to shave more often. I started shaving every day, or 5-6 times a week, and it seems great for the skin. I do a cold water, two-pass shave, avoid shaving against the grain, since I shave daily anyway. And I also like milder razors, not a fan of too much blade feel.

    Another enjoyable comparison. I haven't tried the DE89, but I do like the the King C with a Gillette Facet in it. very lovely little shave. I love the smell of Proraso green too! PAA makes a version of Proraso green called Awesome Sauce. It comes in a soap, shampoo/conditoner bar, deodorant and cologne. I'll be trying 3 of those when I get to the mainland in a week and half. I'll let you know how they work out and how close to the smell they are! Cheers!

      I actually just ordered some awesome sauce paa products. They don't have a shave soap sample for it. It didn't want to commit to a large container. I am getting the bar soap and an aftershave sample.

    the King C beats my 1920's Aristocrat open comb, which is my workhorse, and i love visually. It removes beard from my neck that the Aristocrat butchers and leaves me red, even if i am delicate. Plus the King just takes it off nicely with confidence no cuts even with pressure and it "sticks" to my skin the end result is so rubbery smooth. To each their own we have different necks, face shapes, not to mention skin and beard so many variables. but the king c just is perfect for me.

    @Heiko Shaves
    I own a Merkur 20C, a Muhle Hexagon, and a King C. Gillette. Shave quality on all three is very similar for me.
    It's my understanding that the head on the Gillette Heritage is made in Germany by Muhle, but the King C. Gillette is all Chinese made. On the KCG box it says handle made in China, blades made in Russia. It looks to me kind of like a hybrid of Muhle/Jagger and Merkur. I think the handle on the King C. really leaves a lot to be desired with only spiral knurling and too much smooth surface. The corners on the Merkur are definitely radiused more than the Muhle so they feel softer.
    As for the pointy edges, here's my take: With the Muhle Hexagon which uses the same head design as the Jagger, I noticed the pointy sharp corners right away. I then noticed that I couldn't feel the corners on my face when I have the optimum angle, so I view it more as a feature than a bug.

    • @Heiko-shaves
      @Heiko-shaves  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. I just bought a Mühle Razor and will take a look how the quality stacks up against the competition. On the KCG I can't really find too many faults due to it's very low price point. But you are right, the handle is pretty slick. Greetings, Heiko

    You are spot on. A mild razor is the best for daily usage. I find it odd many requests are made for shaving channels to shave off a large amount of growth. I find that request odd. Who goes 3+ days without shaving that has a job where they want to look presentable & well kept? Unless I’m camping or outdoors for days on end I shave daily.
    Finding a smooth irritation razor is a far different tool them something that mows down 6 days of beard. I just grab my Merkur Futur if I need a hedge trimmer. 😂 rest of the time I want something gentle.

    Hallo Heiko,
    ein schöner Vergleich von zwei meiner Lieblingshobel, die beide für eine tägliche Rasur bestens geeignet sind. Den Mühle R89 halte ich trotz gemeinsam entwickelten Kopf für einen Hauch aggressiver als den EJ DE89.

      Ich werde das bald ausprobieren. Mir ist aufgefallen, daß ich noch gar keinen Mühle Rasierer in meinem Sortiment habe. Da hab ich mir kurzerhand einen R89 bestellt.
      Mal so nebenbei, hast Du schon den Yaqi Ultima adjustable Edelstahl Rasierer ausprobiert?
      Mal schauen wie der so ist.

    I have both razors you're using in this shave. And the MUHLE R41 and R89 Twist which is a little more aggressive than the Edwin Jagger 89. I usually use Feather blades in my milder razors so i don't have to apply more pressure to get a close shave. Are you in the USA?

    • @Heiko-shaves
      @Heiko-shaves  7 месяцев назад

      If you can shave with a R41 you are probably in a different league. I have not tried Feather blades in my milder razors but maybe I should.

    Hallo Heiko, das Problem mit den sehr spitzen Ecken kann ich bestätigen. Beim DE89 war es besonders ausgeprägt und sehr unangenehm beim Rasieren.
    Bezüglich des Rasiersteins könnte man nach einem bedufteten Kristall Deo für Damen suchen, man müsste nur eine Variante aus Kalium-Aluminium-Alaun (Potassium Alum) finden. In Deutschland habe ich nur die Variante mit Ammonium-Aluminium-Alaun angetroffen.
    Demnächst launscht Blackland seinen Adjustable und hat auf seinem Kanal (Blackland Razors) die Öffentlichkeit an der Entwicklung teilhaben lassen. Das Resultat ist einfach nur amüsant. Hätte Blackland doch nur aus den Fehlern anderer Hersteller gelernt.
    Gruß
    Artur

    Hi Heiko, ich kann Deine Erfahrung mit aggressiven Rasierhobeln nur bestätigen. Ich rasiere mich jetzt seit fast zwei Jahren mit Rasierhobeln. Am Anfang dachte ich auch, ich müsste mit Mühle Rocca u.ä. Hobeln anfangen, aber die waren mir alle viel zu aggressiv und verursachten heftigen Rasurbrand. Richtig war für mich am Anfang dann tatsächlich der King C Gillette. Jetzt nach ca. 2 Jahren merke ich, dass meine Haut zunehmend aggressivere Hobel toleriert, mittlerweile gehen auch Hobel mit offenem Kamm. D.h. die Aggressivität eines Hobels hängt sehr stark von der "Gewöhnung" der Haut an die Rasierklinge ab. Je länger man sich so rasiert, umso mehr toleriert die Haut auch aggressivere Hobel. Das ist meine Erfahrung.

    • @Heiko-shaves

      Ich hoffe, daß sich das alles so weiter entwickelt. Vielleicht kann ich mich dann zum Einjährigen Kanal bestehen mich mit dem Mühle R41 rasieren. 😉
