Jacob Laukaitis. Hi. How many liters is your backpack? Did you buy the 31 L or the 21 L?
Jacob Laukaitis is this the 21L or 31L? Please let me know, thank you.
Big fan of your work Jokubai, cheers from LT ! 😎👌🏻
When will you restock your merch ?

This is definitely not what I'm supposed to do the night before my History test.
It is pack your bag and run away haha

Jacob, your "Golden Rule of Packing" is the best bit of travel advice I have ever heard. I thank you so much.
Just dont go so minimalist that you become one of those constantly nagging others to borrow things you need. Met many of those.
@@globetrottingtore.640 right, that's so extremely *ssh*le
Great video. Everything I own for the last 4 months is around 7-8 kg, including a yoga mat and a sleeping bag. And every day I lose another item I don't really need. Lately started to go to short-term trips (a few days) with only a small day bag, with about 4 kg.
And I love it!!! All my house in a bag -
WE DO NOT NEED POSSESSIONS.
I have literally watched this video over 20 times in the last year or two and it always reminds me that I don’t need everything!
Obviously you’re doing just fine with the jacket you have. For me - in all climates - a medium weight down (or synthetic down) jacket is a must. Even in warm places, when it’s stuffed into a packing cube it makes an excellent auxiliary pillow. Between wearing it and using it as a pillow it’s one of my most used items.
It took me one year to become a full minimalist. One day sitting in a foreign country at a coffee shop I had the idea of becoming a minimalist, not even knowing what the word meant! I did some research on it and that day I decluttered my closet and from there I continued with everyone I owned. This year I am focusing on decluttering my life. It’s been a long journey
Everyone you owned? Like pets? 😂
@@Shin280891 No, slaves
@Mısra Zeynep Arslan it was a joke
Yeah it does take time. Layer by layer. I've been minimizing for four years but traveling light for ten years and perfecting the kit like this dude. The bag must be water proof and bright colors so it's easy to spot at airports etc.
It does take time I’ve been going at it for a year and there is still a lot I need to part with
When I feel down or feel like I'm stuck with my life ; I start watching Jacob's videos. They make me feel excited.
They make me dreaming(day dreaming tbh) to travel the world. Medical schools are really tough. I'm at a point where I can't move. Watching Jacob makes me happy. May God bless Jacob and all the travel loving curious souls.
Thanks so much for this!
I still remember your first video about packing. It was super inspirational to be a minimalist traveler and to just not worry about stuff I have to constantly carry but rather the experiences I will have abroad. Because of you I am going on a solo trip to France and Spain this summer! Thanks Jakob. #WeAreExploriors
"You!...you!...you bloody legend. ..." I ❤ your enthusiasm! It's like you're high on LIFE! ✋👐
Oh...the innocent of 2019. Travel for the next 5 years.
Some people are still traveling tho 😅
Still travelling 🤷♂️
Still traveling.
Your dog personality brightens my day 😀
Thanks for sharing your wisdom ⚘
Carry on only is LIFE! I will never go back to checking a bag! The times that I think: “oh I wish I had this” are never outnumbered by the value in freedom.
Does anyone else hear Chase Reeves say Prev-err-keee?
“Whe shimply shzip it uppp” 😂😂😂😂 love this guy
At this point i've watched many minimalist videos and packing videos but i have to say this one stands out.
it was quite informative and all the things were just necessary and sufficient and the video was to the point, short and sweet.
i appreciate your work.
Watching this during corona 2020 😂
That cable bag is super clean 👌

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a minimalist RUclipsd with such a wicked personality and charisma 😂😂 definitely subscribing!!
Sveiki!! The best adventurer posted again!! You are so awesome Jacob...I like so much your videos and you are right when you travel you need to have with you only the necessary things 😄
I'm really angry cause I didn't get the notification yesterday!!! Ahhhhh, damn it. Oh well. But I gotta say my mood got a lot better after watching a video. Well you know, I just catch your positive vibe! Thanks Jacob 🌞 Idk how is it for you, but for me whenever I need to pack a bag it's the most stressful but also and the most intresting part! Just love sitting on the floor with my stuff all around me trying to figure out how should I fit everything in one bag. Like solving a math problem 🤔
#WeAreExploriors
Thanks for your never ending support! ❤️❤️
Where is your towel? :D
hahahahahhahaha
You HAVE to have a towel. It's the ONE single most important piece of gear.
He didnt mention it because no company gave hin money for it
It didn't make the cut. :)
In my opinion, you don't need one, either the hostel/motel/hotel/AirBnB/Host++ have one you can use, or for the 1 in 100 time you find yourself without a towel, just use a clean t-shirt. Saves you a helluva lot of space.
You have great positivity and enthusiasm! Glad I found you. You legend!
Broooo! Thank you for this! Two months out from traveling. This helped a lot! A little nervous but now feeling more confident. Appreciate your bright soul!!! 🤘
When I suscribed for the first time after I watched your North Korea video, I remember getting so happy every 3 months when you uploaded a video, but now I get to be happy every Monday!! Yay #WeAreExploriors
Haha, means so much to me! I'm so so so happy seeing your comments every time I post a video. Thanks a ton!
I recently watched the north korea vid too. Shits crazy there! Today for the first time in ages i felt happy to go to work as i realised its not easy in other places. Real eye opener :)
Who goes to North Korea 🤔
First video I watched was the north Korea
Love your energy bro. Us Jacobs are crazy.
Hey Jacob! Thank you for the weekly dose of cool stuff, I personally think this video is one of the better ones idea-wise. So many people I meet on the road are running around with what seems to be all their belongings and some... Good to have you doing some educating on that. As a little personal tip - you can layer a few clothes one on another before rolling them up to maximise the space savings.
Keep up the good work! #WeAreExploriors
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with these valuable advices and specially taking the effort to provide us with the link to all of your items.
Much Appreciated Bro :)
A recommendation: the best packing cone ever that really blew my mind and was a game changer is peak design packing cubes series
And another recommendation is the solo-tourist Teflon / waterproof bag. I use it either as a wet clothes carryon bag or clean wet laundry bag (the peak design packing cube have special system to store dirty clothes in a separate pocket ) and for long trips I also put scrubba washbag and use a single soap for all: the dr bronner one
I still remember your first video about packaging. It's pretty awesome that it is possible to live with so little. People usually own too many usefull things. More people should learn about this #WeAreExploriors
Yes, minimalism certainly has upsides! And it's amazing you were there with me all those years ago. You're the best!
I really like your honest, unapologetically yourself-ish way of doing this video!!!
Oof, this is less than I take on a sign,Ed overnight trip. Definitely something to aspire to! Thanks for sharing “the Golden Rule.”
Hii Jacob.
A very good and informative video.👍
A Much needed topic to be covered on your channel.(btw it's the second video made on backpacking I remembered now) Minimalist backpacking really helps a lot on travel journeys.
Will surely follow all the tips you gave on backpacking.
I also usually roll the clothes in order to utilise the space.

Very useful video for me! I remember my last long flight from NYC to Moscow in September. It was so freaking awkward when I shifted my stuff from the luggage to my backpack right in front the check point 😂 So, I’ll make some tips for me from this video to avoid awkward situations in future :) and of course #WeAreExploriors !!!
I keep having these minimalist videos recommended to me. I don't fully understand it though. Some I've seen, the people are fairly poor. Others, they seem to have a bank account loaded with cash. For me, there is definitely a fear of having nothing, but also a fiery curiosity of how to live contently. One thing I hope to achieve in my life is to be content even if I have little to nothing. Knowing that I struggle with this, and that I am a human, I fully believe that there are others who struggle in much the same way I do. The education I have has lead me to believe that many people are in deep sorrow and struggling to survive with next to nothing. But then there are people like this who choose to take little and live. It doesn't appear to be the same though. All these people seem to have the things that they value when it would appear to me that instead, the root of minimalism is to cast value out of your life and live within the world while labels and identities of all materials, including but also well beyond one's self, are cast aside. In that respect, I don't understand why any of these videos would be important to anyone other than someone who knows little about travel, a seemingly recurring theme within these recommended "minimalist living" videos.
Even to that point, these videos seem to offer little to no knowledge other than instilling opinionated value of materialistic objects. I feel there is much more important information to be had when traveling. Specifically, an understanding of the culture, laws and societal influences that each territory has and how to act and react in the most appropriate way depending on what obstacles a person is faced with.
I am not a fan of indoctrination, but I do respect those who have cemented their beliefs and attempt to educate others with the experience that the educator has received through personal experience. That being said, I don't particularly agree with youtube's team's idea of using an algorithm to recommend seemingly overload my browsing experience with videos like this one. I'm not much for advertising either as it seems to have much the same impact. What is should be labeled, but anything else is opinion and should always be left out of the equation of a viewing experience. The algorithm Seems to be a reflection of indoctrination at its finest, just as many youtube videos that are similar to this in delivering the information held within seem to be a reflection of personal doctrine.
To finalize my commentary on this video as someone who is struggling with societal pressures and how best to act and react in the seas that are society, community and politics while still trying to enjoy the fruits of labor that so many around me and before me have worked to bring the pleasures of to the modern world, I've yet to watch a "minimalist's" video on youtube that actually seemed worthy of viewing purely based on the information being delivered. I do believe there are other things that a person can learn from watching videos of this nature though, but I honestly can't think of any that would reflect the idea of minimalism as a way of life. Although, the fruits of this labor, for me, does shine an interest on the contrast of taste in nearly all other things.
Love the way you talk so lively.
No Water bottle? Food container?
The stomach is a water bottle and food container. Worst case scenario, you go thirsty or hungry for a little longer than you otherwise would, but you won't starve or die of thirst.
@@bryanpratt5850 that is great advice
@Robert Williamson I imagine the comment was about minimalizing your impact on the environnement by wasting less plastic bottles and bags (that are not as recycled as we think, at all). From my point of view, this was worth bringing with me and I really do not regret it
@@morganedurand1863 thumbs up for the environment. A solid alu/Glass/reusable plastic bottle doesn't hurt too much in terms of space.
agreed, however in some regions it's safer and more accessible to just buy bottled water/beverages.
Where’s the absolute necessity to bring a hat? What’s the worst that could happen without it?
sun stroke
Hospital
Sun burn? Skin cancer?
Sunburn. Heat stroke. Blinding sunlight in your eyes.
It's kinda necessary if you're not washing your hair a lot
This is a really sensible packing list. I am going to take note of your tips. Thank you! Very helpful.
Excellent packing list! Who wants to lug a huge bag around on our holiday. Purchases can be posted home. Great job! 👏
Who owns all the stuff in the room around you?
I had a crazy airport experience a few weeks ago when I had to take out some things from my luggage and throw them away. Of course, I was trying to come back to Lithuania after spending 5 months of living abroad but still... I was so desperate and stressed out and all the people in front of me were watching the whole thing with a lot of attention.. 😅 I promised myself that I will think twice before taking something together with me. I definitely need more experiences and less stuff. #WeAreExploriors
It's crazy cuz your backpack was the one I was deciding between when I was going on a trip last year. I really wanna get it now!
Whoa!! Perfect timing for this video - THANK YOU so much for doing this!!! LOVE IT
Thanks Kris!!
Your energy alone made this video great to watch!
Omg who is this guy???? He’s so cool and bright and has so much positive energy about him. Definitely subscribing to this LEGEND!!!😎😎👌👌
Another great video from one of my favourite channels!
this is the best travel packing tips video out there
Do you always carry that huge bag with you? What do you do when you want to spend a day walking around the city and working on your laptop at a cafe?
@Robert Williamson I've thought about trying that. I have a small satchel in my backpack for a day without laptops, but I still travel with a laptop bag so I can avoid bringing my whole pack to meetings/office/work
My deuter 50L has a small daypack that zips off. I am out of my pack a lot and its nice to have the big pack that stays at "base station" (if it is a place I trust anyway) and a small pack for fetching dinner, swimming or whatever.
Chicobag and a few others also make some packable backpacks that fold up pretty small, but still hold plenty. That is another good option. I love mine and it has held up to abuse and overstuffing pretty regularly. Fits in a cargo pocket, but still holds a whole grocery bag of food if you repack it from the stores bag.
I also recommend a camp towel, you never have to seek one out in a new place, or smell one you don't want to use.
Hi Jacob, do you use the 21 L or 31 L bag?
About time I found a packing video that suits what I'm going to be doing! Thank you so much!
I want that sweater so baaaad! It's cool. Greetings from Venezuela, Jacob! It's a pleasure to watch your videos
I‘d need an extra compartment just for snacks and food 🙈😂
#WeAreExploriors
I'm curious about the liters of the bag, is it the 21 or 31? Because you can fit quite a bit in there. :)
Great video👌🏼.
Did quite a few traveling and as always, i repeat: always, always (again), overpacked!!! Stuffs that are still untouched to the end of the travel.
Nice packing tips for next solo backpacking 😎. Cool video 👌🏼.
I need this kind of energy in my life 24/7 please and thank you
Lot of stuff to take care of on the road especially the MacBook, cables and camera , I don't need a locker in the hostel when traveling, peace of mind is better.
Yeah I avoid taking laptops as my phone does everything. I take a back up phone though.
I suppose those things are in there cause he does this stuff for a living, but you are correct that most people can and should do fine without much more than a phone.

Hmm may I make suggestions following your "worst situation" rule?
-rainjacket, worst situation: random weather change -> die of hypothermia or nicer option, you get a mean fever and spend a whole 2 weeks in hotel instead of exploring
-minimalist first aid kit, worst situation: get a badly infected wound from substandard first line treatment -> cut trip short
-reflectics and bright colours. On something. Backpack probably best. Weighs you down at most a couple g. Potentially saves your life if you got knocked unconscious in a ditch or something, someone spots the reflectic or bright colours and comes to haul you out before you die of hypothermia overnight or drown in 6" ditch water.
It's legit happened in my home town that a drunk tourist died of hypothermia right next to a pub cause he was wearing all black. Gotta have at least a strip of hivis somewhere.
For a minimalist first aid kit
-antihistamines
-antiseptic
-sterile gauze pad
-tape which will stick on wet surfaces(like a bloody torso) theres a bunch of diff brands, to clarify this is a multipurpose item, as can be used to hold on gauze(rather than bandages) for bigger open injuries, can repurposed as ankle support after sprain until u can see a doc, standalone makeshift plaster for little cuts, blister protection etc
-sterile gloves for doing the gauzey antiseptic shit to a large injury if you end up needing it.
This entire minimalist first aid kit would fit in a ziploc. Could save your life if you really had a worst worst case scenario like off on a long walk. 100% think it's worth carrying.
Yes! This video was so well made, I loved the way you presented the items and the bags. I used to travel between home and university quite a lot and used to get funny looks because people saw a petite young lady carrying quite a few bags, I almost looked like a Christmas tree...not anymore, though! All thanks to a new washing machine, minimalism and Marie Kondo, haha. Also, I would absolutely buy your merch, love the minimalistic design! Stay awesome, you legend! #WeAreExploriors

this video was sooooo helpful !!! Tank you!
So, all of your videos are filmed with the g7x? it sure as hell doesn't seem so.
Dear Jacob, why I find your videos so helpful? I always find some kind of new kind of human being I want to become and after a few weeks you make a video about it. I was always like normal women and didnt know what to wear. But when I really realised what am I wearing the most and mostly what I need the most... My closet changed completely! It is almost emoty now! As a full time student, doing sport, travelling, shooting videos... I dont need much. So I decluttered. And life is so much easier now! I have so much time without long choosing outfits in the morning. I am no longer angry because of my uncomfortable clothes because those ones which werent comfortable I donated or gave to my granie:) I totally agree with you. When I am travelling I need just a few important things. And it is also cheaper to travel with smaller bags :) thank you for making my vision of my journey with minimalism more clear:)
And also...
