This is a very in-depth install instruction video for our Indian Challenger Dash Relocation Kit, which is available for 2020+ Indian Challengers.
Our Dash Kit is engineered and built with the performance rider in mind! It relocates the factory Ride Command touch screen, as well as the speedometer and tachometer gauges. The updated configuration allows for the use of "T-bar" style handlebars on the 2020+ Challengers. The relocated instrumentation not only improves the rider experience but also completely redefines the overall look and feel of the motorcycle.
We consider our Dash kit to be a DIY friendly modification that is 90% bolt-on. However, it does require a few basic skills and basic tools. You'll need to be able to follow specific installation steps, as well as disassemble and reassemble critical components. Installation also requires cutting and extending 11 separate wires. Allow 4-7 hours of installation time for the average DIY'er. If you don't feel confident that you will be able to correctly install this kit, please contact us!! We would be happy to try and help set you up with a shop local to you who can perform the installation!

Hey everybody, we would love if you would all leave us some feedback on this video in the comments below. Do you appreciate how in depth we went with this install video or did we go overboard? Would you like to see more videos like this in the future? What type of other videos would you want to see from us?
great video, hate the look. love the bars
Great info and I am considering ordering this kit from you guys.
Any chance you will make a plug and play extension for tach and speedo?
Install went great for being 100+ degrees here in Oklahoma today. Started early at 6am... only real problem we ran into was blowing the 5amp fuse due to forgetting to disconnect the battery cable when lengthening the wiring harness for the gauges. Thanks again Jake for the speedy reply on a Saturday evening at dinner time! Fit and finish is great, the videos you made covering the install were perfect. Looking forward to picking up some more Barnstorm Cycles parts in the future.
perfect amount of detail…thanks!
HI! im just wondering if the gauge cover and windshield are supposed to be kinda loose? just normal? i can see Velcro in there.. huh..
I know this is an old video but damn...one of the best instructional videos I've ever watched.
Appreciate that! Looking back now i see room for improvement but thank you for the feedback!
I can hear the breathing of the guy holding the camera. Other than that, great video.
This is one of the best instructional vids i have seen in a long time!
KLOCK WERKS rule for any or all windscreens .. amazing
This makes this bike a contender for my next bike, the only problem I had with this bike was the handlebar options.
Right on! We've heard that few times now and even know a few folks who bought the bike once they had ordered the kit! Let us know if youbever want to order one! Thanks for the feedback!
I feel the same. The only reason I wasn't going to get a challenger was because I couldn't put T bars on it. This changes my whole plan now!
@@Barnstormcycles One of the deciding factors in my purchase of a Challenger was because of your kit.
Nice video, it would make it much easier to complete this installation. You do a great job covering the install, but the heavy breathing by the person holding the camera at first is annoying. The part I don't like is you moved the most needed gauges down under the handlebars.. This means to see your speed which is what you check the most often, you have to look much farther down. I much prefer the original configuration that Indian uses, and would not do this because of that. If you could re-design the kit to leave the gauges on top, then I would consider it. Just IMHO..
The ride command, which is moved to the heads up location, also shows speed. So you dont loose that functionality. Appreciate the feedback regardless. Cheers!
@@Barnstormcycles Thanks, that does help. Since I would be leaving it on GPS pretty much all the time, I would guess it's displayed there also, correct? The only other question, why disconnect the brake line which would require bleeding the brakes? Why not just leave it attached and lay it on top of the inner fairing until ready to reinstall? Thanks
@@rickhudson7598 correct. Also the brake line step is a little unclear in this video on accident. In our written instructions we clarify that it's only necessary to disconnect if you're swapping brake lines (if your bar choice is not compatible with stick length line) or if you're uograding brake master cylinder to say, a Beringer control set.
This is one of the best produced, best shot, and organized videos I have ever seen. Even tho I own a Chieftain, i was curious what was under the "hood" on a similar bike. Every step is clear and easy to follow (if I were to perform this upgrade). HOWEVER, how did you not show the finished product at the end???? It was like the end of the Sopranos or after hitting on a girl in a bar for 2 hours then she tells you she has a husband or boyfriend. Show the finished install and perhaps take on a test drive!! :)
thanks for the feedback! In all honesty we were in such a hurry to get the video done we skipped that part, and it was still winter so no riding shots were doable. We will be updating it soon to include some more content, finished shots etc, but we were really focused on the assembly details for the folks doing their kit installs.
"Uncle Joey" is going to GIVE ME $1400.00.
I WANT an Indian.
JS
nope
Breathing, lol. Is he OK? How big is that camera, my dude? LoL
Half way through your video. So if the electric gas cap opener fails, with the new bars do you need to move the tank back in order to remove the cover plate?
I would like to see the finished product, with a narrative of what is now different...
Informative...
And that’s why you pay a professional on certain things. That’s definitely one for sure.
Great video! the Dash Relocation Kit looks really good !
Put the comeand center too far up into line of site looks like you’d be streaching your neck to look over it
Thanks for your feedback and for looking! If you are average height (5'5"-6') your line of sight will be fine. The kit only adds about 1" inch of height over stock gauge hood. In fact, so far the consensus with everyone who has actually used or bought the kit is that the new placement is superior to that of stock. We realize that this is still a subjective thing -as everyone has different preferences... but that is the point of this kit, to provide additional options and ergonomic possibilities.
Awesome video almost done with my kit but you don't need to disconnect the brake line seems like that would just add unnecessary steps
Great video very informative. And perfect for diyer
Badass. Honestly makes this bike look so much better. If I ever upgrade from my Indian Springfield I’d definitely get this kit.
dude use some power tools, like the Milwaukee M4 1/4" hex screw driver.
just trying to make sure we demonstrate in a way the the average guy can follow along with.
I am about finished with my install. I feel like taking the banjo bolt off the master cylinder was completely unnecessary.
Yea it's not necessary unless your swapping hand controls to say Beringer, etc. The written instructions that come with the kit note this but we failed to include in the video. Sorry for that! Hope everything else went well. Thanks for your support and feedback!
Great looking had me till cut factory harness see future issues with that but other wise great install
@@neilkemmerer2922 appreciate the feedback!
Question: do you think there are no spices in factory harness harness?
When properly done they are not an issue.
Over 400 kits in circulation. No wiring issues yet. Thanks!
Are you coming to Daytona Beach for the bike week? I'd like to have that installed on my challenger.
Sorry, we wont be there. A new round of kits will be opening for order soon though, so if you want one, you can pre order and then have your local shop handle the install! Thanks for your interest!!
What handlebar would you recommend for a short rider? The stock makes me hunch forward a little too much. I would like a bar that moves backwards very slightly and inwards/medial.
Tough to recommend as fitment is such a subjective thing. Are you riding a challenger or a different bike? This challenger specific kit, which allows you to run t-bars, may be a great option for you. We could do a special order for you and build a set of bars with additional pullback, over the stand 1" we normally make..
Now it's hard to reach the dash like RG.
T-bars make it worth it...
First, that was a great video with lots of detail! Well done!
I've got 2 comments:
1. You mention the fuel tank cover is difficult to remove without moving the tank back. That could be an issue. I had my fuel lock solenoid fail and had to use the manual procedure documented in the user manual. It requires removing that part to open the gas cap.
2. Did you give any thought to making a wiring harness extension using the proper connectors so no cutting was needed?
Good comments! I guess every custom detail has its compromises. If you've got a gas cap failure and you have to unbolt the dash, the extra work it takes to remove the seat and 2 rear tank bolts in order to slide the tank back a couple inches isn't going to slow you down that much more. But a worthwhile thing to be aware of!
As for the harness extension, that was our original plan. However, due to the connector style, the corresponding "female" style connectors needed to make a pigtail are not available as a stand alone connector. They are only available "built into" components, like the speedo and tach. Therefore the only simple option left was to do the extending of the harness manually. A little less slick for sure, but still functional. It also does not prevent you from reversing the job should you want to. You'll just have a little extra wire inside your fairing. Thanks for watching and for the thoughts!
@@Barnstormcycles since this is a collaboration with Indian any way they can have the female connector plugs made in the future so that cutting isn’t necessary. Because I love the look of this kit. However cutting wires leaves you open to a ton of potential failures in the future.
Well done installation video of a top shelf product! I've rode since I was 11, first bike was a 72 Italian made Hardley 125 2-stroke Scrambler. I've always dreamed of owning an Indian Chief and finally got my dream bike, a 2014 Chief Vintage. I'm really liking the Challenger alot! I restored a KZ-1000 MKII a few years ago and was made an offer I couldn't refuse and let her go to a great home in Texas. My Vintage has all the bells and whistles with the stage 2 intake cams and pipes. The 111 is a beast and still walks away from them Milwaukee 8's! These Indians are the epitome of the big v-twins!
Just completed my install. Thank you for the detailed video and for inventing this awesome product. I did have about 11 factory bolts leftover, maybe in future videos if there are a lot of bolts not re-used then show what you have leftover at the end since I had difficult figuring out why they were no longer used..
Tell Darth Vader to get the mic out of his mouth.
How much is the Kit cost?
Pricing is on our site! We have limited inventory though. Please email if you're interested. jake@Barnstorm.US
I get the kit, nice design. But the T bar handle bars once installed are some fugly. Not a good look, looks like an afterthought. IMHO.
great video, thanks👍
👏 Good job 👏
I noticed that you didn't mention the "Homelink" in the original ride command hoodie there is a spot to lock in the homelink. On your kit have you guys factored in a place to put the homelink or is it just not an option?
Great video!
Where I can get the fuel tank and fender protector you used for this project?
Thanks
Hey Charles. What's your email address I'll send you some info when I'm back in the shop
Good way to ruin the re-sale value of the bike unless you put it all back the way it was from factory.
Do you offer install with this kit if we come there?
Hi Mark. We can definitely handle installation for you yes.
Please reach out to me via email to discuss. Jake@barnstorm.us. thanks
I hear you mention 4mm fasteners. I was expecting this bike to be using imperial hardware, like Harley. I am tooled up for metric machines, so I would be pleased if this uses metric hardware 🇦🇺🇦🇺😎
The bikes oem hardware is metric. Our kit does utilize some SAE hardware but common sizes.
Dude hasn’t worked on newer harley much I guess I had one and it had metric bolts and screw on it also
@@indianjoe2075 yep, definitely a mix of headwear on the newer bikes. Keeps ya on your toes!
“Positive criticism”. A finished walk around of the dash at the beginning of the video.
Still a great share!!

Interested in the fuel tank and fender cover. Where can I find them?
We get them through our supplier Drag specialties. Im sure you could find them online somewhere though. If your having trouble shoot me an email at Jake@Barnstorm.us and i can get you some. Thanks!
I wish you guys offered aftermarket gauges, I would like a pair with more of a premium look to them.
Maybe some day! For now, Indian does make a gauge bezel you can add to finish the look a bit more.
@@Barnstormcycles for the Indian Challenger?
Yes. Ill try and see jf i can find the part number. Email me at Jake@Barnstorm.us

Nice name drops, how then guys doing these days??
That is one of the ugliest setups I’ve seen
If we all liked the same stuff, the world would be a boring place!
No offense but that's hideous. Why would anyone do this... I don't get it. I was excited until I saw the final result.
Well. Good thing you don't have to buy it lol. We have lots of happy customers. That's the beauty of custom stuff. If we all liked the same stuff, what a boring world it would be. Cheers!
