The 3rd generation Toyota Sequoia is a 7 or 8-seat full-size body-on-frame SUV. That frame is shared with the latest Toyota Tundra. In back there’s multi-link rear suspension and in front a new electronic power steering system.
Full-size SUV owners like to tow and the Sequoia is made to do just thanks to a big increase in tow capacity versus the 2nd gen model. The max is 9,520 pounds though choosing 4wd or the higher trims reduces that number somewhat.
Enabling those towing abilities is a hearty twin-turbocharged hybrid V6 (437hp, 583 lb-ft), that’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission to really maximize the engine’s output. Rear-wheel drive is standard, 4-wheel drive is optional on all trims for $3,000.
Cargo space behind the 3rd row varies between 22.3 cu-ft and 11.5 cu-ft depending on where the 3rd row is positioned but there’s decent space to work with, especially when you start dropping seats. Speaking of seats, a 2nd-row bench seat comes on the SR5 and Limited trims while all higher trims feature captain’s chairs.
The updated 14-inch multimedia system also includes over-the-air updates plus standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
The base MSRP is $58,300, not including destination charges, for an SR5 trim with a moonroof, heated front seats, a 12.3” digital gauge cluster, panoramic view monitor, and the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of active driver-assist features.

It was about time. It had been over a decade since the Sequoia finally got a redesign. The 4Runner should be next one.
How tall is Micah? 6’6”?
5’9 on most days. 5’10 if feeling confident
7’2
Quintessentially average
6’1” , 225lbs, and pure chocolate.
5’9” to the top of his hair.
Love the looks. Well done Toyota.
The TRD pro would be the pick of the bunch look so sick
if it came in a 2 row that folded down 2rd row takes up to much cargo space
For 80k no thanks
@@grizzlyman329 and add the dealer markup $5000-$15k ?
@@youtubecarspottersguide1 oh yeah those trds are gonna go for 110 easily
@@youtubecarspottersguide1 shit the Camry trds are damn near 50k rn with markups so 🤷🏾♂️
…I love a good cameo. And FOR THE RECORD… Micah is 5’10”. 😂
You sure about that, Danger? It might be smart to leave a comment asking...just to be safe. :)
@@MicahMuzio bet hes not average where it counts tho hehe
I own a Sequoia 2013 and it is amazing with travelling with your family or friends or off road or any occasion you have and it's still functioning really well.
Now I'm thinking to upgrade to this model even I don't have to but I'm in love
your MPG blows bad. gas hog. trade it
@BlessedDoongleBerry why do you think they took 15 years update this thing 😂? They made sure it was gonna be reliable. They’ve been testing the engine itself in the current gen LS for 5 years now working out all the kinks and Toyota hybrids are known to be the most reliable in the entire industry. Toyota knows what they’re doing and wouldn’t tarnish their reliability reputation for emissions.
@@matthewschoen5746 lol. That comment didn't age well with the turbo something malarkey were you have to remove the engine from the car or lift the body from the frame to fix it. In a brand new 60/80k truck😳
I would never upgrade if I had a V8
@@matthewschoen5746 Do you fallow the news
This is looking sharp in this red and this package.
"it's like uh...Fisher-Price's My First Sequoia" lol
I wish this vehicle was available when my kids were young instead of the crappy Blazer I had.
This video would be so much better if we all know how tall Mika is.
I think he mentions he's 11'4" a few times... I have to rewatch the video...
He's 5'10. Watch the video.
at least 6’5
All these vehicles are getting too expensive. Super happy I picked up a 2016 Ford Expedition with 30k miles and 7 year warranty for $31k about 2 years ago. Guess I am keeping it forever now with basically the same vehicle from Toyota costing more then 2x the cost. And with supply chains being screwed, pretty happy about it now as well. Good luck Toyota but honestly don't think you will meet your goal of selling 3x as many with the cost this high and gas prices over $6. You did this in 08 as well. Good timing. Lol.
all sold out whether you want it or not. so?
We have a 2010 Ford Expedition. We now have over 220k miles on it with nothing major going wrong on it at all. We got it in 2014 for about $26k with an extended warranty. It has better functionality than this Toyota. The second and third row actually fold flat into the floor and you can put a 6' adult male in the 3rd row with knee and head room. Getting 2 back there is easy, 3 is a bit tight on width, but 3 kids in the 3rd row is easy and comfortable. I can't imagine paying 80k for a car with less functionality than our 13 year old Ford.
Can you confirm whether the middle position in the 2nd row had lower (rigid latch) anchors for car seat installation? It appears that the bench only has them in the outbound positions for the 2nd row. Additionally, still no 4wd-auto for drive select?
Nice review vid. How wide is the 2nd row? How does the width compare against the Atlas or Telluride? Enough for three car seats?
It’s not finished? Bro we can wait. Wait for a review for a finished model. We can wait.
A compelling full-sized family car Good job, Toyota
Mika, I wish you’d add essential details in the video: how tall are you? 4’11”? 6’4”? I must know!!
Micah often states his is the typically average American male at 5 feet 10 inches 👍
Where’d you get 4’11”? Idiot @A Aziz 🙄
He stated this info in the video lol
Bruh these replies don’t get the joke lol
@@RRLV434 and it couldn't be anymore obvious lol
The cargo doesn’t make much sense to me. Good idea with the shelf but the third row not folding down to make it flat seems odd and the non sliding middle row would be difficult to use with car seats on it if others wanted to use the third row.
Haven’t been a Toyota fan for some time, but I bought a brand New 1984 Toyota SR5 2wd truck which I loved & got many miles out of. I shifted over to the Korean made products, & am on my 3rd Hyundai since 2015, and think they are outstanding vehicles. Currently own a 2019 Hyundai Tucson top-spec Ultimate trim 2wd, which I also love. But I’m really liking what Toyota/Nissan & Subaru are doing with their vehicles in terms of design, features, infotainment, & safety equipment! This Sequoia is a beautiful looking Large 7/8 pax SUV & has a similar design theme to the New Tundra pickup which was just released for sale. Has all the functionality as you featured, that one could ever want. That rear cargo management system is incredible. Luv the interior layout a lot, even though there were some litttle trim pieces not covered as you stated this was a pre-production model. Overall great New vehicle I might give a look to, but would have to have the top-spec Capstone trim if I were to purchase!…Thanks Micah!
Great review.
I appreciate your seating review. I just have to know for comparison, how tall are you?
Sequoia looks so much better still crazy about first generation love the rear end looks like a Highlander and Landcruiser put together.
Agree side profile window lines, squarish wheel fender, open window hatch and taillights are reminisce of the 3rd gen Highlander (14-19). Toyota is dope.
For those that have driven both, how does the new sequoia compare to the 2022 4Runner limited? Both are body on frame with a solid rear axle. 4Runner has the x-rea suspension though.
This should have best in class gas mileage. If I can get 20 in a city. This will be my first sequoia.
They heard you
Excellent review Micah, but how tall are you?😉
Love the videos… I never miss them. By the way how tall are you?
I have never been a fan of Toyota’s styling but this looks pretty good. Are you sure your 5’10 ? Lol
I am never going to forgive Micah for that HR-V review that he did the other day. (Nor any Honda video from him).
Same this is probably the only Toyota or Lexus vehicle that I like the look of
Finally a Japanese car that looks as bad ass as GM trucks! Love this cars design. It’s very nice looking because it’s finally on par with American/European 7-seater SUVS and trucks.
I really like it’s looks and think Toyota finally gets it. I’m glad since Toyota/Lexus designs have been uh, controversial in the past to say the least.
I love the way that this looks at least the outside and the inside is not too bad but I'm thinking to myself chicken they have just made a bigger truck instead of having this cargo management thing that plastic in the back that you had to move back and forth if you have a handful of groceries you do not want to move that thing around and sidenote the defender 130 is bigger than the Sequoia
Thanks For The Great Video... Thanks Kelley Blue Book Channel.
Hey Micah, how tall are you? You should start telling us how tall you are so that we can have a frame of reference for the extrapolation of dimensions for a given vehicle...both interior and exterior. Thanks!
Nice review and nice shirt.
Wait so they cancel the off road section because it rained ?!😂well it’s definitely not a Jeep
This is a base wagoneer competitor which is still superior off-road capable. And can definitely handle some mud too.
I appreciate the Toyota Celica GT4 T shirt. One of the best WRC rally cars there ever was.
does it have wireless CarPlay
and good camera system?
looks great in white
looks great in white
Love the sunroof! I’m still watching, so forgive me if you answer this… will there be a hybrid edition?
The seats that slide forward are better for those with kids. It takes less time to slide vs flip the seat. Then there’s the car seat issue. You can’t flip the seat if a car seat is installed. The third row seats should fold in to where the cargo area would be completely flat. More head space for taller people in the third row would be great. Other than those things, it looks to be a great SUV.
I so much love this...
this looks so much better than the competitors they mentioned. And it's probably more bulletproof. I wants.
This thing looks like garbage compared to the Tahoe RST and Expedition Stealth, but it does look much better than the ancient version it replaced.
That 3rd row is a deal breaker. Sure it works for transporting people, but the cargo space is horrible, even with the 3rd row down. What a let down...
it's a MESS 😂😂😂😂
Yes, 3rd low leg room is not good.
I actually want to know where’d you get that shirt from haha
Still 5’10?
Aww shucks! You better work Micah with those killer green Adidas Superstar's on... I got the red ones so great minds think alike.
Tell me if I’m wrong but if I get a limited 4x4 with the trd off-road package, panoramic sunroof, tow technology package, and JBL premium audio… wouldn’t I be very close or over the price of a trd pro? The trd pro has all this standard with the exception of the panoramic. All this to get a 2nd row bench seat... Toyota I may just wait till you make a 2nd row bench in the PRO to buy.
Only car in the world with all the vowels in its name!!
I am average height at 5 foot 9...you are a giant!
Is that a OGIO RENEGADE RSS 17 grey backpack in the trunk? It's one of the best backpack ever made. Totally indestructible!!!! The Sequoia is nice too..LOL
We need this in Australia 🇦🇺
Wondering if Toyota will come out with a "extended length" version of this...that'd solve the head rest issues in the third row seat and also be in a league with the Suburban, Escalade ESV and Yukon XL
From a tfl video they said they aren’t planning on doing an xl version
Wish they offered a rear independent suspension so they can match the competitors 3rd row seat position and the cargo flat floor.
@@Suprasian
I posted the same. No irs = no legroom
I wonder if they’ll make an even longer version so I can party with the Bridesmaids. 😂
Waiting to see TRD version review of this Sequoia
How did Toyota get the Sequoia's grill right and totally mess up the Tundra's grill????!?!?
And all the Lexus grills...who knows?
Thank you so much for saying that!
Tundra looks better this looks boring
1:39 a limited model with manual steering adjustments.......🤔
3:01 but they add a power tilting third row seat.
Agree. Not impressive, not even by Toyota standards and modern vehicle price standards
@@theforgottenorg 3:01 but they add a power tilting third row seat
@@queenqutie9236 when it would make more sense in the 2nd row. This thing was rushed to the media even though it's a preproduction model and in a time of tight inventory.
You got good amount of hair though. Congrats! 😂
Wish the panoramic sunroof ran the full length of the vehicle so the 3rd row got more of an open feel.
Is the sequoia reliable ?
Did you move to texas? Old videos were in California
You gotta angle your head in the second row???
Lol @4:17 can’t close the cargo door. 😂
White colour... 😍
This SUV should have a full message feature in the two front seats.
"if you live somewhere that has weather" 😂 ⛈🌧🌩☁
Plzz camparision for lc 300
Hey Micah, how tall are you?
Hi Micah, how tall are you?
Wait .. the front design.
That was.. similar like landcurser)?
micah.5'10" with wifeys high heels or flat shoes?
Hey Micah, what’s your height?
You ever get that high five from Savage Geese?
He did. Rewatch that video.
not sliding 2nd row is a misstake, it also needs more head space in 3rd row and the trunk is overcomplicated because toyota didn't well in hiding 3rd row in floor. another toyota car with flaws - sienna is the champ - narrow door, wird seats which do not hide or goes out of the car and of course - no childseat tilt which should be the standard in all family cars. Jeep - teach tem all:)
So glad I got my 2022 before the second generation is gone.
The cargo compartment was a deal breaker for me. My dogs can’t even sit back there due to the weird way the seats fold down.
How tall are you in the morning? I already know about 5' 10".
Wow great Car Toyota👍
How tall is Micah? He look 4"11
Mpg?
Wut? Doesn't this use a axle in back 0:29
How much do you weigh?
How tall are you pls Mica ?
Midsize Telluride might be a good consideration.
A kia telluride absolutely destroys the sequoia in just about every way and the sequoia isn’t even on sale yet
@@naveenthemachine well, let’s be fair, the Sequoia as introduced is a preproduction model. Let’s see when it comes to market. My guess is for every Sequoia sold about 30 Tellurides will be sold. As gas prices skyrocket the Kia Telluride is a much more ‘practical’ choice and considering it’s also a seven to eight passenger SUV with good ‘off road’ capabilities and impressive ‘build quality’ and a great warranty. Overall though, 95% or more SUV’s never see off-roading, and the closest to off-roading the other 5% do is off-road into their ‘driveway’ at home.
No joke, Sequoia is hard to spell!
It would be nice to know how tall he is..
Nice car. I have a question to experts how reliable is Volvo XC40?
Wrong video
Made in India.. depends what you’re used too.. early volvo comparison, no comparison the early ones with the indestructible 4cyl will outlive the new ones, Toyota quality has slipped, but even in it’s slipped state, it’s still better than the volvo.. but if you owned GM products, it’s more reliable than them. Though if it breaks have a wad if cash available.
joke right?
Full sized? Is the iguana doing a guest appearance Micah!?
how tall are you btw ?
4x4 is My favorite
Micah is 5' 8", right?
Sequoia used to have automatic 4 wheel drive. (which isn't all wheel drive and it's not 4 hi) it was really nice on the hwy, especially on icy roads, and it never did me wrong on the offroad.
Where 4hi would suck on icy hwy cause of wheel skipping on turns.
Am I wrong? 🤷♂️
Now they changed it to 4hi like tundra and 4runner. Which kind of sucks in my opinion, because they don't got no more of that limited slip diff automatic 4wheel drive, which our family were a big fan of..
We ended up getting new f150 Lariat,
Were surprisingly ford added automatic 4wheel drive as an option. (So you get 2wd, 4hi, Automatic 4wd and 4lo.)
Sucks for sequoia for missing that option 😕..
Unless I'm wrong and they will add is as an option as well....
Let me know your guys thoughts on this.
They did it to cut costs. I think it should have been on the capstone like it is on 4runner limited
Micah, how tall are you again?
So, how tall are you?
Get It Danger!
How tall is Micah?
We switched heights. He is now 6’4”
Only 5'10", I was more than certain 5'11"... must be the camera adding height!
But how tall is Micah?
The passenger count, luggage/cargo arrangements and overall design check boxes. But for the price I'm leary of how they layer on so much complexity. Trying to get the mileage figure up I suppose.... while Toyota figures out how to meet their decade away goal of going full EV. Meanwhile they offer an overly complex twin turbo/electric assist motor. Any issues with the turbos? Lithium ion battery pack sits under your passengers. How much to replace the battery pack? A very new design so lets see how well they manage the pack's heat. GM's Suburban/Yukon XL with the Duramax offers better fuel efficiency with far more people hauling capacity and less overall complexity. Too bad Toyota won't offer a diesel while we wait for the promised all-EV future.
This car is so sexy I wish I had a family of 6 to justify buying it!
How tall are you?
why wont they release the MPG
That second row hump is concerning
How tall areU???😍
Great job Meka! 😁
