My problem is that it does not fit the aesthetic of the GKs. the model is just strange, a barebones unarmoured industrial powerlifter? no why not have a special variant of Dreadnought or Knight and it would work much better with the look and lore of the Grey Knight.

Many believe that the Dreadknights are a impractical design and one could be remiss for that, but one must remember that they are pilot not just Space Marine, no they are piloted by a Gray Knight. These battle suits are a vital part for the Gray Knights and no doubt they will continue to be part of the Gray Knights weaponry.
Count the 'Baby carrier' gags. The Greatest War Machine of The Grey Knights come to think of it The Only War Machine of The Grey Knights! A Dreadnought (DreadKnight) that can weald a Thunder Hammer is a War Machine!!!!
I think its so bizarre compared to the other dreadnaughts when I first saw it I was confused then I was reviled. But I soon fell in love with it since it's basically a giant Jaeger suit
I think the story actually shows why the Nemesis Dreadknight is designed this way. It’s designed not as a full on front-line unit, but a emergency measure against big demons. A knight can easily mount the suit (hence the exposed design) and quickly rejoin the fight. Protection isn’t as important because let’s be honest, no amount of physical armour can stop a demonic weapon. So it’s focused on speed and strength of the strike. The human-like joints and proportions of the dreadknight probably allows the pilot to better use their skills in bladework, far more so than in a Dreadnought or Imperial Knight.
I do enjoy my grandmaster teleporting into battle in his dreadknight warsuit and destroying deamonic monstrosities with his greatsword. Very good video fine sir.

They paid you to read their script and this is not the first time the devs of this game have made false promises in regards to their redeem codes. I only wish that when a dread knight oes down, you can roll a dice and have a chance the pilot survives and gets out on foot and you put a normal model with d3 wounds on the battlefield to keep fighting. Would be so flavorful.

It's a shame to see so many people complaining about the Dreadknight over the years since its release, mostly because people miss the point of it. It isn't there to protect the Grey Knight, to improve upon the heaviest armour in the Imperium. That would be overguilding the lilly, so to speak. Rather, it is a weapon. It is simply a means to take the fight to - and then through - the worst that daemonkind has to offer. That is its sole purpose, protection be damned. Offense, after all, is often the best defence. Brother Baldemort, thank you again for a wonderful, insightful video. And a second thanks is in order, for the wonderful name Nundam. I haven't laughed quite that hard in a while. I have never been a fan of the dreadknight, it came so close to being a model I would enjoy but the fact that the pilot is exposed kills it for me I could live with my other complaints but that feature I can’t look over. Still really enjoyed the video
I fully agree. I know there was some inspiration with that robotic loader in Alien franchise and it's different to see the pilot guide/wear his exosuit but it really doesn't fit well with the Imperium of man that welds rectangular slabs of armor to practically any surface available.

I liked the Dreadknights from the beginning! I am planning on having 4: 3 normal, and my Grand Master. Especially with the preview of how the Greatsword can cut through swaths of enemies! I wonder what psychic power they will get this edition? And if they will be classed as Vehicles or Monstrous Creatures...

The idea of dreadnoughts with exposed pilots used to rub me the wrong way for the longest time. However, it just occured to me that if the design for the terminator armor was cobbled together from dark age tech originally intended for agriculture (walking tractor, strong servo motivators) and warp core maintenance (thick shielding), the dreadknight and its offshoot are probably repurposed construction units, designed for raising a building in a day or holding voidship plating in place, until it's welded.
The thing I like about Warhammer the most, is that it and its concepts could be applied to near enough any fiction. Dora? It's the power of a psycher child holding her Tzeech infested world from becoming chaos itself. By giving it form and putting herself through reality with outside watchers, using their minds to reaffirm her reality.

Great video!!!! I dig the concept of the Dreadknights, but not the execution. The mini looks like an Imperial Knight and one of those ridiculous battlesuits from Avatar had a weirdo grey baby that was raised in a Gundam foster care home. I understand that it's WH, so it's not going to be realistic. But having a good portion of your extremely gifted, very rare (nearly unique), and ruinously expensive-to-train warrior exposed when he could be encased in another layer of armour would seem like a better choice.
Once again Mrs. B has outdone herself. Her music selection is perfection for this video. As much as I am unimpressed with the model no one can deny the effectiveness of it on the battlefield. Excellent story, as always. Nearly made me forget the horrible design failure of the model itself. I love the idea, but were I to ever build one, I would have to modify it. Then again, that's half the fun, isn't it?
I don't mind them, but personally would have preferred them being an upgrade to a Dreadnought. As far as the design goes visually, I think the baby carrier comparison comes from the knight looking like he's strapped to it's chest, whereas if it was more of a frame around him, it would have worked a bit better. Maybe have the knight in normal aegis armor instead of terminator plate, to cut back a bit on the chunky factor. Really I just want to see them do more with Dreadnoughts. They deserve more respect, in lore and in tabletop terms.
O the joy of yet another vid of the Masters voice. My love of the GK is huge but the look of the Dreadknight needs more uuummmmppphhhh in your face then a visual target area.
How can people not LIKE these? They fit perfectly within WH40K aesthetics and the rule of cool, no-one honestly comes to WH40K looking for realism its complete and total fantastical nonsense and thats why we all love it. Plus have you seen the stats on that armour the "exposed" pilot is wearing and as a side note it would be a crime against the Emperor himself to hide something that looks that good behind armour.
The Dreadknights are not my favorite model but they are different and interesting. I do love the Grey Knights and Custodes in the lore. So epic and unique from all other Imperium elements.

Just not a design I'm particularly fond of, would I jump into one of these to face down the great pawns of Chaos were I within this, my favorite chapter? Never been too fond of the Grey Knights - ever since thy became an army of their own (and yes, I still do remember the time when they were but a handful of tin miniatures which you could field alongside your regular army). Sure, their aesthetic is cool and all, but their lore is ...too over the top - even by 40k-standards. Perhaps the 5th Chaos God Matt Ward has done too much damage to their lore - I don't know. That said, even though I have little fondness for the faction itself, I still very much appreciate the work Baldermort put into this video - and in fact find it quite entertaining nonetheless. I do, however, have a question for our favourite servo skull: In light of the recent ..."questionable actions" by GW towards fans and their projects, are you considering branching out into the lore of other settings as well? And be it only as a contingency in case GW one day decides that lore-content is also to be monopolized - just like fan-animation and mods for Warhammer-themed games?

Protection isn’t as important because let’s be honest, no amount of physical armour can stop a demonic weapon. So it’s focused on speed and strength of the strike.
The human-like joints and proportions of the dreadknight probably allows the pilot to better use their skills in bladework, far more so than in a Dreadnought or Imperial Knight.

I only wish that when a dread knight oes down, you can roll a dice and have a chance the pilot survives and gets out on foot and you put a normal model with d3 wounds on the battlefield to keep fighting. Would be so flavorful.
Every vehicle should have a pilot model that can be put on the battlefield after the vehicle is destroyed.

It's a shame to see so many people complaining about the Dreadknight over the years since its release, mostly because people miss the point of it. It isn't there to protect the Grey Knight, to improve upon the heaviest armour in the Imperium. That would be overguilding the lilly, so to speak.
Rather, it is a weapon. It is simply a means to take the fight to - and then through - the worst that daemonkind has to offer. That is its sole purpose, protection be damned. Offense, after all, is often the best defence.

I have never been a fan of the dreadknight, it came so close to being a model I would enjoy but the fact that the pilot is exposed kills it for me I could live with my other complaints but that feature I can’t look over. Still really enjoyed the video

I fully agree. I know there was some inspiration with that robotic loader in Alien franchise and it's different to see the pilot guide/wear his exosuit but it really doesn't fit well with the Imperium of man that welds rectangular slabs of armor to practically any surface available.

I liked the Dreadknights from the beginning! I am planning on having 4: 3 normal, and my Grand Master. Especially with the preview of how the Greatsword can cut through swaths of enemies! I wonder what psychic power they will get this edition? And if they will be classed as Vehicles or Monstrous Creatures...

Auramite is only for the Custodes and the Emperor himself.

The idea of dreadnoughts with exposed pilots used to rub me the wrong way for the longest time. However, it just occured to me that if the design for the terminator armor was cobbled together from dark age tech originally intended for agriculture (walking tractor, strong servo motivators) and warp core maintenance (thick shielding), the dreadknight and its offshoot are probably repurposed construction units, designed for raising a building in a day or holding voidship plating in place, until it's welded.
The thing I like about Warhammer the most, is that it and its concepts could be applied to near enough any fiction. Dora? It's the power of a psycher child holding her Tzeech infested world from becoming chaos itself. By giving it form and putting herself through reality with outside watchers, using their minds to reaffirm her reality.

I dig the concept of the Dreadknights, but not the execution.
The mini looks like an Imperial Knight and one of those ridiculous battlesuits from Avatar had a weirdo grey baby that was raised in a Gundam foster care home.
I understand that it's WH, so it's not going to be realistic. But having a good portion of your extremely gifted, very rare (nearly unique), and ruinously expensive-to-train warrior exposed when he could be encased in another layer of armour would seem like a better choice.

Excellent story, as always. Nearly made me forget the horrible design failure of the model itself. I love the idea, but were I to ever build one, I would have to modify it. Then again, that's half the fun, isn't it?
I don't mind them, but personally would have preferred them being an upgrade to a Dreadnought. As far as the design goes visually, I think the baby carrier comparison comes from the knight looking like he's strapped to it's chest, whereas if it was more of a frame around him, it would have worked a bit better. Maybe have the knight in normal aegis armor instead of terminator plate, to cut back a bit on the chunky factor.
Really I just want to see them do more with Dreadnoughts. They deserve more respect, in lore and in tabletop terms.

O the joy of yet another vid of the Masters voice. My love of the GK is huge but the look of the Dreadknight needs more uuummmmppphhhh in your face then a visual target area.

They fit perfectly within WH40K aesthetics and the rule of cool, no-one honestly comes to WH40K looking for realism its complete and total fantastical nonsense and thats why we all love it.
Plus have you seen the stats on that armour the "exposed" pilot is wearing and as a side note it would be a crime against the Emperor himself to hide something that looks that good behind armour.
The Dreadknights are not my favorite model but they are different and interesting. I do love the Grey Knights and Custodes in the lore. So epic and unique from all other Imperium elements.

Never been too fond of the Grey Knights - ever since thy became an army of their own (and yes, I still do remember the time when they were but a handful of tin miniatures which you could field alongside your regular army). Sure, their aesthetic is cool and all, but their lore is ...too over the top - even by 40k-standards. Perhaps the 5th Chaos God Matt Ward has done too much damage to their lore - I don't know.
That said, even though I have little fondness for the faction itself, I still very much appreciate the work Baldermort put into this video - and in fact find it quite entertaining nonetheless.
I do, however, have a question for our favourite servo skull: In light of the recent ..."questionable actions" by GW towards fans and their projects, are you considering branching out into the lore of other settings as well? And be it only as a contingency in case GW one day decides that lore-content is also to be monopolized - just like fan-animation and mods for Warhammer-themed games?
