A fine singer. Loved his music back in the 60s. Had his lps and played his music on my little record player down in the barracks in Charleston, SC , Drove the yankees crazy.
Stonewall r.i.p.. I remember Stonewall got the boot from the Oprys GM Pete Fischer. Stonewall filed suit and won a discrimination and got reinstated at the Oprys until he retired on his own.
This song was turned down by Marty Robbins, though I believe he had the publishing rights to it. Marty often featured it in concert and did eventually include it in an album. Another pass on a song was his steel guitarist Bill Johnson's 'A Wound Time Can't Erase', which was recorded by Charley Pride, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, George Jones. Ricky Skaggs and several more. If you like good, old country you can't do worse to listen to the likes of Stonewall who never, veered off the country road his entire career.
Stonewall was wonderful ,his music will never die.
This is a awesome song our Dad used to play. ❤Thanks dad and stonewall Jackson
God bless, to any all that carry country music 🎶 forward. Robert K.😊😊❤

RIP Stonewall. Maybe you and Elvis can sing this together in heaven.
Stonewall Jackson is a great performer. Awesome thank you
Nice!
No wonder he was "A friend of Hank Williams Sr." Look, listen, and feel, he's got the same "from the heart" thing that H.W.S. had.

Molto bella da Elvis Presley che ne fa un country rock. ❤
Did he write this song?
Everyone was holding their guitar like that back in the early 60's. A strap is easier.
