That only just appeared on my home page, but it brought back some lovely memories for a Welsh ex-pat. I liked Porthcawl as kid, although I only went there by train once- quite a slow journey from Cardiff, so we were generally more likely to go to Barry Island on the train or Western Welsh bus. The Coney Beach fairground had a great water chute which I loved to ride on. The beach itself was always windy and felt cold even in the middle of summer. The sea would not have felt colder if it had icebergs floating offshore. Whenever I could, I would have a ride on the miniature railway. Was one of the locos called "Coney Queen"? It was such a long time ago.
Great presentation! Re. the miniature railway. Both locomotives still exist, there is a society dedicated to bringing the railway back, they now own Silver Jubilee which requires full restoration. I believe that the BCBC are being spectacularly unhelpful.
I'm not completely sure but I think that's my grandfather, Thomas William Rees, born in 1876, wheelwright and undertaker Glanrhyd, West Road, Nottage, in the white Panama hat front right on the Silver Jubilee cart, 1 minute 16 seconds in.

We used to holiday there for two weeks every year when I was a child in a little caravan on Newton Point, it was called Bella Donna. Great times.
Great memories. Perhaps I'll bring my family album to show you.
Fantastic.
I have got a photo of porthcawl
Lovely photos just wish I could stop some of them for a closer and longer look 😊
You just click pause.
Or if you want to go back to one, rewind a little.

Shame they ditched the train service in the early 60's.
