I love these travelogues. At 80 years of age, my brain says let's do this; my body says, forget about it; my wallet says you gotta be kidding me. That said, thanks for the ride. Someone needs to provide access to passengers to a recording of what the landscape is all about; one that can be accessed at any time during the trip that gives immediate input to what is passing by; maybe some sort of app.

I live in the USA and this is one of the few rail trips that I really really want to take which wouldn't be utilitarian (not going to see family or friends, but traveling just to take the trip itself). It looks like it more than lives up to everything I've heard about it.
    The scenery = WOW.
Interesting that I don't think of this rail line running parallel to the highways, which it looks like it did through some of Nevada/California. I'd love to drive out west as well, but obviously when you're driving you've got your eyes on the road and you can't appreciate the view like you would from a train.
Glad to see that this rail trip seems to live up to everything I've heard about it... can't wait to do it. Thanks!
Oh and P.S.: next time you see a Monte Cristo sandwich, get one. If you liked the french toast, you'd love it. It's like a grilled ham and cheese sandwich made on french toast. I put syrup on it and cut it up and eat it with a fork like french toast. Terrifically underrated lunch item.

I always look forward to your videos and they relax me and remind me of the trips I've taken so far. I think Amtrak's prices are insane, and most people won't be able to afford it. However, the US has stunning landscape and the train ride is definitely a great way to take it all in.

I took this trip about 60 years ago when the California Zephyr was part of the Burlington Line. The dome car was the popular place to spend the day. The meals in the dining car were served on china and hotel silver. Took the same trip in 2013 with my husband. No dome car. No bar car. Food was ok; nothing to rave about. I don’t recall the china and utensils being even as nice as what appeared in these photos. Once the sun had set, we were in for a long, boring evening. Fortunately, the daytime views were stunning; that time passed very quickly.
