it could be anything , Social Media , music , drugs , food , The point of the song is that we have so much input on a daily basis that we have been desensitized to the world around us and we then are left dealing with the burden of boredom. Its like when i got out of the Army , civilian life was difficult to adjust to because nothing in everyday life offered the stimulation that i got while serving. Hope that makes sense

As a general rule, try not to stress too much about finding an 'exact' meaning to Tool songs. They're usually pretty subjective and open to interpretations by the listener... sometimes just pull back and try to hear the big picture of it all,
The general theme of Stinkfist is about desensitization, which you were picking up on.... maynard does use some pretty vivid imagery to get his point across, which may have gone over your head. You might listen to a Tool song a few times and keep hearing new things in it each time. Many layers musically and lyrically.

@@evfamilyent not to be indelicate, its about fisting. The cool thing about Tool is almost every song can be interpreted individuals, which I think it what Maynard wants. But some are pretty straight forward
@@davidcandelaria4411no that's one interpretation of the song it can be taken many was. It's just about over stimulation that's could be with anything from drugs, to sex, to social media, to eating. It could represent anything, so no he wasn't wrong about his own interpretation of the song. I love tool just see them in November but some of the fans are knownit all assholes who turn peoppe away from the band because of their annoying nonsense.
