List you got a little comedy and there that was pretty funny
Phil mate need to gain some muscle mass. Repairing computers is fun, but you've got to think about yourself too mate. Also, charging 100£ for 90 minutes of work is insane. I know cash converters around town where you can buy series S's for a hundred.
Already subscribed :)
Always appreciated my man! ❤
@andreward8510 yeah a lot of the time with some cheaper devices it doesn't make sense. A lot of repairs aren't worth it on the series s, but £60/hr is actually below the going rate. If you go to a shop you're likely paying £80. In America they're charging around $150 per hour. It's specialist work so it's pretty expensive
I've been buying and selling on ebay for over 10 years. I can tell you by just what they said they knew exactly what was wrong with it and it's sad there is still people that do that kind of scummy stuff. I am very honest with my listings sometimes it makes it harder for my items to sell but atleast I know that the buyer knows exactly what there getting into because that's what I would want. I say that in all my descriptions on my listings. Honesty is key and it's actually helped me more now than before that more people are buying from me for being honest and not lieing.
Lying might make you a quick buck but honesty will bring returning customers and good reviews for your account :)
@@IMDYT420 - with ebay, as long as they make a cut of the profits they're not bothered!
I appreciate you taking the extra time to explain your strategy as you went through the repair. You've got a great teaching technique and I am happy to see it! Thanks Phil 😁
This has to be the best video you have put out, Brilliant. Love the little kittties testing your patience. Cracking trace work too, probably the best i've ever seen you done. Nice one.
You're a legend! Video quality is very nice with the filter. As far as leaving negative feedback, that's what the system is in place for. I myself am fed up with dishonest sellers. So it's good to know who to avoid.
Very nice trace repair you did there, the microscoop view looks much better with the anti-glare 👍 keep up the great content
1st class repair Phil, very neat job indeed. I wish my hands were that steady! I love that little grinding pen you use, makes removing solder mask so much easier by the looks of it, certainly beats scraping away.
I never really watch long videos but your 45 minute video only felt like 20 minutes. From the funny side comments to your breakdown of what you're doing and how you do it was a great pleasure! Also no shame in leaving feedback without contacting them. Perhaps they would have countered with a partial refund but it definitely seemed like they knew what had happened to it and it resulted in you (or anyone who would have bought that) a loss of money or time. Thanks for making something super positive about it and teaching us step by step with references for items needed on this repair!
Great to watch you repair this , and what a great skill of eye to hand control you have.
Great work Phil, you did a neat job there, I know myself these sorts of repairs can be very time consuming. You are lucky your eyes are still so good 🙂
Great job Phil. You are truly talented with your repairs. Best of luck mate.
your production of youtube is so much better lately.. keep it up mate..
Tbh as a ebayer myself i think the negative feedback is unfair. They states it powers on but no display which seems correct ? Its also sold as spares repairs/parts which it is.
They wernt stating it was a hdmi fault, they were saying it possibly may be.
Although i agree with you the chances are they did know about the previous repair...their is no way to know this.
For example they could have just purchased it or been given it and not know the item history.
I think they listed the item cleverly to maximise the sale price of the item. In my opinion it matchs their description.
I think you should be more carefull when buying broken items in the future and always assume the worst when buying spares/repairs.
Anyway just my 2 cents
Love the content mate keep it coming 👍
I do agree to an extent, but if they truly didn't know the history they should state that. Plus on top of that they sell a lot of console related items so it seems they at least have some knowledge. That was one of my deciding factors personally. The thing people forget about "parts or not working" is it isn't a free for all. They still have to be as accurate and honest as possible in the description. If it said they didn't know or it had come from for example a joblot I'd have shrugged it off. At the same time I've taken some pretty big Ls in the past few years and just shrugged them off as either my fault, high risk that went wrong or occasionally even ignorance on my part. I just don't understand how someone who appears to be a business seller dealing in this stuff daily can be so sloppy 🙄
the negative feedback is fair they knew what they was doing
So every seller should have your high level expertise in order to open up and examine the console to find it's exact fault before selling it? I imagine if they could figure out its fault they wouldn't then sell it to you but fix it themselves?
@accountofthevail9894 did you watch the video? Someone worked on the board and it wasn't declared in the listing. This specific seller sells faulty consoles by the bucket load, so yes, they should have known
@@TheCod3r but you have literally no idea if they did it or someone else. As you say they sell tons of second hand stuff so it's far more likely that someone did it before they sold it to you. In which case you could of easily talked to them as the screenshot you showed literally welcomes any complaints. Instead you cried about it like a baby
Really enjoyed that mate, something so daunting doesn't seem that bad after all. Cheers for broadening my mind.
Man you've got some steady hands. I'd seriously struggle to run one wire yet alone 9
I admire your patience with it all. The way you did those wires was awesome. I don't think I'd be able to do it because I don't have the tools, but if I did, I don't think I'd have the patience :)
I really like your ads, as well as the repairs :)
Lol thanks bud
You getting better at fixing things keep up the good work 👏
Nice repair mate - that track repair was top notch. Why do so many of these consoles arrive with a busted hdmi port is beyond me :)
Excellent fix. And glare and image load's better. Great video,
Wow, nice video mate. Really cool and unique with the boat ⛵
Great job! You have a passion for this field. Keep it up.
You are and amazing tech guy the cod is in the building love you videos amazing work you are doing keep it up 🙏
another great video! thanks for including the music track list!
Fair play for given the name of the song and band. Shows proper respect.
Lol, when you mentioned the time I was like "it's 3am for me too" and checked my watch. I kid you not, it was literally 3:22am for me as well lol.
Nice work man you inspire me back to my school days and working on little electronic boards long story short bullied done electrical installation at college inspect and test I failed ( went into a dka coma ( diabetes type 1 realated ) kinda messed my life up ) recently found a new job working on van mods and valeting watch a guy soldering at work I'm like no that's not how you solder bro how upfront and honest you are is rare I enjoy that I need to set something up at home but yeah money is an issue lol keep up the great work look forward to see more Dan
Hello Coder, you are an actual inspiration. Seeing someone like you do amazing things like repairs and electronics should make the average layman jealous. I hope you know what i mean by that, it seems you have achieved alot. Usually, people will see you and judge you, but in my eyes you are an actual role model and should be an inspiration to our lost youth. Much better than these low lives fantasising violence for profit. You actually lived a scumbag life and turned it around instead of glorifying it. May i just say thank you and show my appreciation. You are a proper good person, you were just lost before.
As a fellow who is much like yourself, i can say that you have found yourself, you turned tinkering with the world into something productive by tinkering with technology. I myself am still on a path of discovery, and im not saying it lightly but i think you are proof that change is possible. I dont know you but i am so proud seeing a fellow human turn things around. I dont care if it sounds corny but more people should look up to you. Thanks again for the content and for being here.
What a lovely comment 👍🏻
Image quality with the filter is way better, some previous videos I used to struggle to see what you were soldering due to light glare on the flux
That thing was butchered. Great repair and Video! ooh, low speed, that's me! Yes, the filter helps. Thanks Phil! 😀
microscope footage looks great with your new anti glare lens. Nice looking trace repair, too.
You bought it for £65, but said you'd have still paid £45 for the console with the damage. Thats the point in contacting them and getting £20 off. You've basically caused the seller no end of trouble through something you do not know was his fault. How would you feel if someone left you and feedback on your store without trying to speak with you first?
The seller blatantly lied about the prior repair attempt you idiot. He is more than allowed to leave negative feedback.
Agree 100%. I run an eBay store myself and its often better to try to come to a resolution with the seller through messages than to just leave a negative right away. But if Phil has experienced this a lot then I can also understand his frustration.
It was definitely the sellers fault. As he would have known about the repair
@@Chrisj-Pops You cannot say that. What if the seller was buying broken consoles himself and just couldn't work out the problem?
And even if it was the sellers fault, is that still justification for not even trying to reach a resolution before leaving him feedback that will forever effect his store?
The only time I personally think its justifiable is if the seller already had bad feedback.
.... but someone had to leave bad feedback to get bad feedback? I hear the sound of a logic bomb ticking 😝
Well done. Wondered whether you had ever used pad strips. They tend to lay flatter and may make pin adhesion easier, though just as fiddly as wire, of course.
your camera is much better than used to be like where you had light beaming on screen i give your camera picture quality a 10 out of 10 and i enjoy watching all your content here and on twitch too
Really beautiful work mate 👍🏼
I never leave negative feedback before i let the seller try and fix the problem. I've been lucky and the sellers have always gone the extra step to make sure I'm happy. I also make sure to look over their feedback before buying.
You are right about the negative feedback. Also if they wouldn't have lied the price had to be lower and also more difficult to sell. At least it was fixable, also very nice job with the trace repair, it looked really well, that's why probably took more time than usual
Hello Phil.
I love your vídeos and your job, i'm starting makes some kind of that repaires and i love as you trace wires from faulty trace.
I'm wondering, what is the measure of the wire you use to trace wire in HDMI?
I'm using small wires from old tiny electronic cable, need to buy wire like you use.
I'm glad you show your job and i learn so much with you.
Sory my english, i'm Portuguese.😅
Thank you in advance.
Nice one Phil, I can’t wait to see the big story
I'm with you 100%, if a seller 'misleads' you leave them straight blaitant feedback that tells people exactly that
Buying faulty tech these days is just such a risk not because of the unknowns of the problem or that it potentially might be unfixable, its the unhonest sellers that buy or own them and know and realise they are unfixable due to water damage or damage from a repair attempt and sell them on acting like they don’t know so its becomes the buyers problem. Kudos to you for taking the risks even though they don’t always work out
If it was sold and returned for resale. Seller probably didnt take the console apart to look inside. Sorry you felt scammed. To me it looks like they just recieved the return and then listed it. Great video Dakota
When you repack something back and u want to resell it you had to do, it's basic things.
Spent majority of afternoon on a singular X1-S trace jumper. Came to your videos to feel better.
Thanks for recommending a good solder mask, I've been looking for a good one. Just ordered it.
Amazing repair. Can you share the products used? Solder mask, Grinder pen, rework gun? Thanks!
Great work man!
And yes you got scammed but luckily you were able to repair it…
My guess is they bought it, tried to repair it, damaged it more then passed it on to you…
They should have noted the failed hdmi repair with trace damage in the description..
And maybe added a pic…
Again, great job on the trace repair…🍻
I have right now a series s strucked by lightning, psu is ok, HDMI port is ok, k pressing both buttons you can hear the second sound for safe mode, fan spin, but no signal at all. Maybe it's better for my friend to send it to you!😁 Good job as usual, well done and well explained.
Keep looking in the background of the videos to see if I can see my switch lol fingers crossed you received it the confirmation of delivery photo wasn't that good 😂
Come at the board from the side with the anti glare lights. They wont work if they are mounted directly above. Still lots of glare on the board!
Great video, one question where did you get your grinding pen do you have a link for it?
these worst cases do bring the best videos, the trace repair was great. Is trace repair possible on a flex ribbon? i've once tried and failed
Good fix you did well my friend😎
no stick here mate, sellers like that should be named and shamed,
I get that the seller might be misleading newer repair enthusiasts, only thing for me is (not defending the seller) there may be a case, where someone buys faulty items, gives them a quick test without actually taking apart the item then resells them. So it could have been bought from someone else, cheap, then resold. Doubt it's the case with this one. Any faulty item is a risk but at the end of the day it's a complete gamble unless they show exact images of the insides. Some sellers you can tell are being completely honest with their description, but there are those such as this one, which is sort of vague. "Potentially, faulty HDMI port?" Leaves room for any other problem related to it haha. Great job on the trace repairs, very neat and tidy work. Good job :)
great video you done a great job repairing that xbox well done
Keep up with the good work Phil
yes the video look alot better less glare
Lol your kitty is awesome. Our passed away this year at 20 years old . She was a great kitty .
I'm sorry to hear that. Losing a kitty must be a horrible thing to go through especially after so long 😪
@@TheCod3r it is . But we're thinking of a puppy now .
Been watching your streams since day 1 pal. Whatever happened to Jason's electronic repair used to always comment first
❤I love the instructional videos. ❤ Genius Level work
Image quality definitely looks better!
Liked the ff music something different great video bud
The anti glare is great!
Solder mask and conformal coating are NOT the same: solder mask serves two purposes - to stop bridges if a trace is tinned, and to prevent oxidation of the copper tracks -, whereas conformal coating is used to prevent moisture ingress to both the board and the components.
Semantics bud
Nicely done dude
Yeah,I think the image quality is easier to see with the anti-glare filter on
Nice job! Very useful instructions also and too bad the guy wasn't honest cuz if I would have bought it I could maybe do a trace but I'm nowhere near your skill level so this would have been almost impossible for me and that's also why the guy sold this item because he hasn't got the skills to fix it and hopes somebody who is really good wil fix it but most of us are of average skill or dont have the right information/equipment.
Nice repair and nice music
I bet it wouldn't sell for as much, or have as many people willing to buy, if they were honest in the item description. But honestly would have gotten them better feedback than lying.
And good on you for leaving negative feedback. I'm tired of liars on ebay and I'm also tired of so many other repair channels that try to downplay that they got scammed and make excuses for the scammer.
Yeah I probably would've paid a bit less but I'd have at least not been left with a shock when I got inside. Serves the seller right. I don't like leaving negative but when it's justified it's justified. A scam is a scam 😒
I think they opened it and thought fk that, closed it up and sold it like they knew nothing. Possible hdmi fault 🙈
@TheCoder how much more difficult were the repairs if you used unleaded solder?
Do you use enameled wire, or pure copper. I have enameled but am always afraid I don't expose enough wire.
Nice trace repair!!
Good on you Cod3r, you’re a good man by my estimation.
Now I’m not a stylish person so take my opinion with a grain of salt but I reckon your new haircut is 47,000 times better looking than your previous hairstyle. Approximately.
Looking sharp👍
i had the same thing happen with a super nintendo mini i bought faulty that turned out to work fine but was one of the fake ones and the seller knew that but didn't disclose it in the listing. instead they said it didn't display on the tv
To avoid the glare you should use a external light at around 45 degree to surface. And then the reflection of the flux will disappear. Of course if you have tall components on the board you will have some shadows. That is why you should use at least 2 of those external lights. One from left and one from right sides. And of course in more complex cases you can use in combination ring light and those external lights. It is much better.
New filter is sooooooooooooo much better!
nice tidy work there dude
Can a standard PWM fan be installed instead of the stock version?
You did a very nice rework.
I used to LOVE trace repair. Something about resurrecting a piece of hardware that was thought good and lost... Sadly, I have developed a tremor in my left hand. It isn't my dominant hand, but it has definitely knocked out a lot of my hobbies. Specialists can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I was on a drug that helped it for a while, but it slowly lost its efficacy.
This is great that tecnueck looks cool as in fast mode
didn't notice before Jamie's voice is in the video lol
You have to report any issues with purchase it's only right 👍
Nice video bro love watching your repair videos and they definitely lied to you about the console so they deserve the negative review in my opinion keep up the amazing work man
It's onus not omen, "the onus is on the seller"
Wouldn't say it was a scam. Was a spairs & repair. Apparently the owner didn't know what was wrong with it. It could have been found in a skip for all we know. Its a gamble we take. Good to see you got it working though.
Depends who the seller is and what their previous feedback is like. If they're a business that sells a lot of consoles listing something as 'untested' or 'unknown fault' then you can almost be sure that the console is tested and has a known fault or failed repair.
TheCod3r said hes selling loads of not working consoles, he knows exactly what hes doing.
Another awesome video
Hey bro how much would you charge to fix a Limited Edition Xbox One S gears of war edition? Broken Disc Drive, and front USB ?
What happed if you USE PC PSU (ITX) on xbox will it allow to get better performace and overclock or damage motherboard?
negative feedback was probably justified - unless they got it second hand and didn't open it up themselves. but that is life
Can you fix ps5 controllers when the constantly start pulling to the left
I like the advert but if I buy from you the money will probably just go on a bag of brown 😂
I only sniff your mom's crack dude
Hey brother, I desperately need help and I’m very frustrated. I saved up a lot of money, and purchased a PS5 digital edition at scalper prices due to my country of residence. Now the PS5 freezes and shuts off on the home screen and it also makes a loud noise on my monitor when it freezes. In order to turn it back on I have to press the ps button twice, the first time it beeps with no light, and then the second time it turns on. I can keep it in rest mode and it won’t crash, I can stay idle on the main screen and it won’t crash, but when i enter into a user it crashes and then shuts off. Please do let me know if you’ve seen a similar issue before or know any possible solution to it. I don’t have any warranty claiming solution either since I live in Pakistan.
One thing though , What the heck did the other person try to do cause the state of that board Wow just Wow ...
Exact problem I have and I damaged trying to fix it lol
I m no expert but maybe you should use a polarized filter in order to remove the glare from the image
Should a raw copy of the SSD be backed up encase of SSD future failure?
How did it get the trace damage in the first place?
I LOL'D SO HARD AT THE AD
super good at what ya do man. could charge more lol.
