Had the same problem with a Samsung tv before exactly the same issue after doing a lot of research I found out that the WiFi modem was connected to the power button on the side of the TV and a faulty WiFi modem board would basically casue some kind of short on the power button that would make the TV turn off and on, simply disconnecting the WiFi board from the main bord, and it fixed the issue, and I'm watching this video on the TV I fixed.

on older samsungs this is true but on this model the wifi is built into the IR pcb along with bluetooth, much more reliable and doesnt normally reset when a wifi/bluetooth error is detected, it just reports it in the service menu error log. the 2 flash he was getting is an error code for the screen and would likely show "tcon" errors in the service menu error log (if has enough time to get there, you have to be very fast before it resets and would need an actually service remote as not all options show using a standard remote)

    • @smitcher

It could still be Wi-Fi related. I once had a laptop that would switch off sporadically and it turned out to be the Wi-Fi module spiking in current and dropping the voltage somewhere else. I swapped module and it fixed the issue but I also tried replacing the caps on the Wi-Fi module power rails with higher value and that also solved issue with that board.

I’ve fixed a few with similar issues by isolating the pin /pins that go to the shorted part of the screen, however although you did 2 different lines and it didn’t fix it, it doesn’t mean it’s not one of the others, sometimes block off 3 or 4 at a time to find it and narrow it down from there. You will probably notice a slight picture imperfection but won’t notice watching a film.

Come on Phil, get that transistor changed, you're better than someone that would leave that unfixed! Put that original ribbon cable back on too. I've learned a lot from you from your normal videos on the consoles, so let me help you. I've fixed 'many' TV's by simply swapping out a blown transistor or shorted cap on the driver boards at the bottom of screens. Test for a shorted cap on the driver boards on the screen just like you normally do on your consoles. If there is a short, disconnect the TCON board and test again to confirm the short isn't on the TCON board. Otherwise it's just swapping out micro components which you can do with your eye's closed, I know you can!

I had a similar tv with a similar problem. To "fix" it I simply turned the brightness WAY down and it no longer reset. I had to do it really quickly before it reset. The picture still looked great and worked fine for a year or so. Eventually the problem returned and even a brightness of 0 would cause it to reset. Simple "fix" worth trying I think.

I had a TV that did similar, and it ended up being one of the LED strips behind the screen. Not sure how the feedback circuit worked, but one of the strips was drawing too much current, which was fine briefly, then would cause the TV to turn off after a short period of time.
I tested mine by pulling the LED strips, and applying the required voltage, and measuring the current draw.
Pulling the LCD panel apart wasn't too difficult either. Just keep it in order.

Yeah, as you said you probably damaged the screen during the disassembly, the dark spot is on the corner you opened the TV and it wasn't there the first time you turned it on. Generally it's better to remove the back cover starting from the bottom, in these screwless models there are two holes on each side where a specific hook-shaped tool can be inserted to hook and pull those metal wires to which the cover is attached. I don't have that tool but when I have to open this kind of TVs I insert a long, thin screwdriver in those holes and then I lift the lid applying a little bit of force.
Anyway I think you correctly identified the original problem, maybe it can be worth trying to replace the chip that was overheating.

I worked for Samsung for a while , for this model of 50tu7000 or 8000, the screen is popular for dying just outside the warranty period. It’s not the end of the road though, usually the culprit is a cof IC,( mostly the one at the extreme left/ right of the tv. Another method to test it is to completely remove the ribbon cable from either end , and plug the tv in. If it stays steady then definitely it’s the screen . Taking it to professional Cof replacement shop can actually breathe new life to this unit.

What you have to be careful with is the ribbon cables connecting the boards to the glass. I'm a complete clutz, no where close to as talented as you, and Ive managed to fix a few. They are more durable than you'd think. Nothing to really loose after all, you'll still have the boards.

In one case, my 2009 Samsung TV would not turn on, but after removing any oxidization of the PCB connectors and flex cable contacts, it was up and going again. Years later, it behaved in the same way with the turn on problem, but this time it was due to one defective electrolytic capacitor in the power supply section. I did not have the correct replacement capacitor on hand, but I did have two capacitors which were of twice the proper capacitance value, and so I put the two of them in series. And so to this day, my Samsung TV is working as good as new. It's been my one and only TV for 14 years now. The background lighting has been set to 100% right from the beginning, and due to me being disabled for close to 20 years, I watch a lot of TV channels, and my TV is also functioning as my computers second monitor, and so there is plenty of daily use there as well.

You may have a backlight issue. I repaired a similar model of this Tv by replacing all the led's and that fixed it, certain newer models have some sort of backlight feedback which shuts the led driver and the power supply down in a fault condition, Samsung are very sly tossers at doing this to throw you off the actual fault just to make it hard to fix their sets and then any engineer would just give up and throw the Tv away.

TV pricing and labor costs have just about finished the repair industry for them.
For the hobby person, literally EVERY tv picked up from the scrap with a good screen is worth repairing. I have four. 1-70", 2-65" , 1-55". All scrap picks. Less than 200 bucks in them all, buying repair board sets.( It really is not worth the time to do board level repairs) I save the defective ones for spare components. And they are all less than 2 yrs old. Really, truth be told, considering that I have picked up a few working ones with broken screens and sold the boards as a kit on Ebay, I have no money in all the above listed TV's. Where there is a will, there is a way!! Plus I get to say I have contributed to recycling, and have reduced the amount of electronic waste going to the landfill!! WIN! WIN!!

When you do part it out, be very specific about the motherboard model. I had to replace one in my old Samsung 50 inch tv for a malfunctioned 4K 60 hdmi port. (The only one it had that supported my XSX and PS5) I got what I thought was the correct board, but it was 2 digits out. Boards looked exactly the same. But after replacing it, all the colours were washed out and I had 4 huge vertical bars down the screen. Ended up scouring the internet for an exact motherboard serial. After that it was fine.

Did you try change panel type on Service Menu? Sounds like there's wrong panel selected, since that motherboard were for another revision.

@@15fakeaccount I did not. I sourced another with the exact same board number. It was fine after that. It was a while back and I have since replaced that TV with a Hisense with 4 4k60 ports. Now I don't have to worry about swapping cables over.

I swear cheap off brand TVs last longer than name brand. I have in-laws that have gone through 3 Samsungs, why do they keep buying them. And my parents also had one that died and 2 RCA TV's. Meanwhile I've got two dirt cheap Hisense TVs that outlasted all of them, and a 4K Bolva that's been working fine for 3 years.

Had 4 Samsung and 1 LG TVs that have broke and all come back to the panel. Only one ever ended up being the T-Con. Currently have a Samsung Monitor from brand new that has never been used just left on standby and it will not power on. Just blinks 5 times. Will never buy Samsung/LG ever again. Panasonic make quality TVs surprisingly along with Hisense. Sorry you couldn’t get this one working Phil but great content as always.

I had a samsung TV that exhibited these symptoms. It was the wifi module that was shorted. Which was a separate component from the mainboard. I noticed it by accidentally touching it, and it was super hot. I didn't even replace it, Just unplugged it and the tv continued to work until the liquid crystals drained out of the panel.

    • @Mr-ZinK
      @Mr-ZinK Год назад

on older samsungs this is true but on this model the wifi is built into the IR pcb along with bluetooth, much more reliable and doesnt normally reset when a wifi/bluetooth error is detected, it just reports it in the service menu error log. the 2 flash he was getting is an error code for the screen and would likely show "tcon" errors in the service menu error log (if has enough time to get there, you have to be very fast before it resets and would need an actually service remote as not all options show using a standard remote)

@@Mr-ZinK Ok, but if it's shorting, it still might ground out the power supply and cause the power cycling. It's worth at least unplugging to see if the tv still power cycles. There isn't really much left to the TV. He replaced the mainboard and powersupply.

@@TheRealFrankWizza I understand where you are coming from, and if I hadn’t spent 3 years fixing them I would agree it would be worth a shot, I understand your logic, but I was a Samsung engineer up until October last year, if there is a fault with the Wi-Fi or bluetooth it wouldn’t work, I Just throws an error on the newer ones, just 1 van repaired probably 50 Samsungs a week via warranty and domestic insurance, and on these models I never experienced that ir/wifi/Bluetooth module cause it to power cycle with a 2 flash

My idea would be cut scratches the pcb traces on it with precision knife, fine if would work only with remotes

Hi coder it's the left hand side screen controller board how you fix it there's a ribbon cable going to the t con board to the left and right side of the screen disconnect the left side see if it stays on that's the problem if yes then individually block the connections one by one till you locate the problem with masking tape hope this helps 👍

I said if you get me the board, i’ll give it a go. Tv are just to big and as we saw, to risky to accidentally bust something. I dont want to be married to the tv.. so on the guy if he really wants an attempt
