When I was first learning how to solder, I used plumbers flux thinking "eh, flux is flux, right?", and thought it was just my crappy technique that was causing the pads to come off and the board to fall apart. Later on in life, I was like "holy crap. I wasted SOOOO many good components."
i expected the thermal paste on the apu but it was horrible recently i got a ps5 for 120£ and just the fan connector was broken by the person it was sent to to clean it some people should not be touching consoles

I used plumbers flux by accident when I first started soldering a few years ago, not because I was cheap but I saw branded flux and thought that was very expensive and no name ones cheap and thought it was the compromise (and didn't realise it was plumbers flux) I used it to desolder a few small things nothing major but one thing I used it on was a faulty Japanese Mega Drive which had part of its board cracked (still worked just in bad condition inside) I had it in a box for a few months went to turn it on and nothing took case off and the insides were all corroded.
I completely fucked up my original Xbox trying to replace the temp sensor but holy shit what I did to my poor console is nowhere near the level of incompetency as this knob.
Hi mate, I’ve got a question… the cable you just took out, at 2:56, just before you said ‘that’s doing nothing’, what is its function? What does it do? I recently took mine apart to clean it, (over heating issue) and when I put that cable back in, I bent one of the pins, which stopped me from putting the cable in all the way...
I really enjoy your repairs, and have learned so much, This one however just felt off. I totally understand that console was a disaster, but the anger, name calling, indirect insults towards people working in retail (who work hard for awful pay and terrible working conditions) just felt awful to watch. This was really sad to see 😢

Hello, I have a 3yr old PS5 on some games I get bad flickering until total loss of HDMI signal but it comes in and out if I move my character. I have a feeling it's the gpu. It did it after the first few months but stopped and now almost 3yrs on it's doing it again. Ive tried setting, TV and PS5. Reset settings, different hdmi cord and ports, tried wiggling HDMI. I clean my PS5 2-3 times a year. Idk it's clean. It's up vertical but idk what to do. Any advice or should I just take it for repair?
What size & type or solder for this type of electronics? I’m a amateur noob and tried a few of the rolls my old father R.I.P had lying about. Thick and thin that either burned too fast and left balls of solder in wrong place, or slow burn fat solder that wouldn’t stick. Help a noob do some simple soldering please! p.s I bought a good soldering iron kit with heat gun etc but I lack the proper type of solder. Thankyou 😊❤
hi i have a question i replaced usb c port on nintendo switch and now the fan wont spin and joycons wont charge i tried injecting 3volts into the fan pin like you did it spins and when i stop injecting voltage it stops spinning is there anything i can do or its now just for parts

You admit that you've come from a checkered past to get to where you are now, and hats off to you. Starbucks employees, factory workers, and novice tech repairers might still be in their journey to greatness. Perhaps a more positive way to approach these frustrations is to explain why what they have done is wrong, and educate viewers on the correct methods and techniques. When I saw all that thermal paste on the chips I just KNEW they'd have put thermal paste on the APU as well, but that looks like what an 8-year-old would do to cover-up his mistake of opening the console!
Damn, crazy to think that I almost bought this one myself. Still new to using a reflow station and when I saw the photo of that part of the board on the listing I decided to give it a pass. I would have been so pissed to get this console in this state. At least he's skilled enough to still make money off of it, but I certainly wouldn't be. I think this is a pretty tame response given the state of this mess.

I gave up in 2010 when prices spiked for anything spares or repairs as i was so sick and tired of being lied to takes a toll on you "never opened" or "no liquid damage" actually means "i was in starbucks and i spilt a pint of milky crap over the laptop but i left it overnight and now doesnt turn on i started to take it apart then decided i couldnt do it so put all the screws back in the wrong holes".

What does having CP (Cerebral Palsy) have to do with him or you using the R word? There is absolutely no correlation between the two. CP (Cerebral Palsy) is a neurological disability yes but the part of the brain that is affected is not that which deal with cognitive reasoning or understanding. Messages/ signals from the brain to other muscles in the body get mixed up, meaning the muscles are shorter (not as long the bones in the arms, legs etc). Physically making things more difficult which results in constant pain/discomfort. You have to manually extend and strengthen them. to stop the muscles from seizing up/ becoming more stiff.
@@samuelm-B-H-8963 CP can also affect other things, in my case behavior and motor controls. that was what the drs said so long ago now. and yes I have had the R-word used against me so many times when I was in school that I lost count. it took years to get rid of the tics and most of the spasmodic jerking but not enough that other kids wouldn't pick up on it. so yes I have had it used against me and others that were in a special ed class that I shared with them, one that had the worst-case scenario of CP. completely wheelchair bound, the only way she could communicate was with this pretty elaborate setup that would generate phrases for whatever button she pushed on the keyboard... I could only hope that she didn't understand what was going on. so yes there at one point the r word was being used against those with CP. but again I only said what I did because this instance generated such a visceral response. trust me, the R-word would be considered tame compared with what I would want to say.
The only thing plumbers flux should touch is pipes , it’s super corrosive and it’s not for any type of electronics. That should have been flagged for return & case opened with the seller
Thermal paste cures all 😂 I am nowhere near your level but I know how to clean and replace liquid metal in a PS5 and also know when to pass on to someone with more skill and tools than I do when it's a bigger job

Think it’s wi fi , not sure , I took mine apart after a year of having and all the heat sinks were blocked with dust and all sorts badly .

you'd have to remove the liquid metal first, and then install some new liquid metal afterwards

better off just installing a large M.2 NVME SSD in the M.2 slot, would be a lot cheaper, easier and less risky.
