Work 3 years to buy you dream car. The very next day you win the same model from a contest. Guess what car you're gonna sell? The car you didn't make any effort to get it. So, getting pokemons from old carts is surely more satisfying.
Even though I knew of Pokémon and even started watching the animé from the very first Kanto episode, Johto was actually my generation of Pokémon. It all started here for me. Gen1 is good but nothing gives me more nostalgia than Gen2 Johto generation. :-)
Yes please do regional changes! Even GSC has regional changes, like Teddiursa and Phanpy (IIRC) being changed to which version they're exclusive to outside of Asia
I didn’t appreciate how wonderful this game was back when I played it. Now I realize it truly was a masterpiece that later games could not capture the magic of. You can tell just how much heart went into these games and the creators put their soul into making this as beautiful as possible.
Fun Fact: In HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Teddiursa and Phanpy lines were swapped as version exclusives. This means Phanpy and Donphan are available in HeartGold while Teddiursa and Ursaring are avaliable in SoulSilver
i love how the editing on this video is like she really searched for all of those sprites and animations and some are in png and i know the research itself is time.consuming but the editing , its full of effort and its so good and clean. u just earned a sub👏
Gold, Silver and Crystal. So many memories with the game. Even though I think Heartgold and Soulsilver are the better version to play, the original still holds up really well. Still one of my favorite Pokemon games of the series.
I love videos like these! Actually, at this time, I'm doing research on regional differences between Mother 2 and Earthbound. I never really thought about Pokémon differences until now! Looking forward to more!
Really enjoyed these version differences videos. Looking forward to the next one.. Regional changes are super interesting. I'd love to hear about them!.
Interesting video, I'd like to see more like this and learn of what changes were made when they came out with enhanced remakes like leaf green/fire red, soul silver/heart gold, and omega ruby/alpha sapphire. Keep it with the great videos. 👍🏻
Pokemon Silver was my first true Pokemon game, it gives me so many chills! I never beat it (and unfortunately my copy of this game has been lost to time, along with my original Gameboy Advance) but it set me on the path to my Pokemon loving journey
I feel that the 3rd versions should not make the other 2 feel obsolete. The best thing they could do is have a couple bells and whistles as well as making certain pokemon be easier or harder to catch in different areas
Differences between Crystal and Vietnamese Crystal: - Items, Pokemon, and moves are renamed. - Participating in the bug-catching contest (and a few other things) are likely to crash the game (save data is unaffected, to just save often and it won't be much of a problem). - Volcano Bakemeat.
Another difference between Ho-oh and Lugia between Gold and Silver is that only the Lugia in Silver knows Aeroblast and only the Ho-oh in Gold will know Sacred Fire
Thanks for hosting this! I was in search of a visual comparison between the three and here you were. :) My Silver's battery died a long time ago, Crystal is still going strong (original battery, too!), and I replaced my Gold. Planning on using them and R/B/Y in a shadow box along with Nintendo's line of handheld consoles + printer. This was my childhood! ... and for once a Gameboy Pocket will be a part of something. Nobody seems to remember it was a thing. >.
I love this series Lucy! Keep up the good work, you are getting so great with your content lately, keeping it fresh and still having that feel, that made me subscribe to you last year. Regional differences video will be great to watch, you have my vote on that.
For the longest time I had no idea why "crystal" was the better version of the metallics (gold/silver), until I looked into it. Many things people don't normally think of as "crystals" actually are, including many stones and metals. Gold and silver, as metals, are much more often found in their non-crystaline form. However an alloy of gold and silver, called electrum, does come in a crystalline form much more often though. Turns out the name is perfect. And speaking of Crystal, a quirk about Pokemon Stadium 2 is that it was released a bit before Crystal was finished, so it doesn't have Crystal moveset and location data, BUT it's set up to expect Crystal so when a copy is plugged in, the game updates itself with that data.
Regional changes would be cool. Since Crystal had one, expect it's not really talked about and I even forget it sometimes. Which is the cellphone hooking up with a gameboy colour to get the GS ball so you can obtain celebi.
I most of the time try to avoid as many trainers as possible because my Pokémon some times are at low HP And I have no potions and I realize I’m doomed
Pokemon Crystal Japanese and International are completely different. Here are the change in the Japanese version: 1. GS Ball is obtainable to be used in the Ilex Forest Shrine. 2. The Pokemon Center in Goldenrod City is very large with a large machine in it. 3. You can trade your Pokemon over the Internet with a cellphone. This only worked with Japanese phone numbers if I remember right. You needed a special cable. The cellphone in the instructions looked like an old Nokia phone. 4. Beauties and swimmers had sprite changes. They were too sexual. 5. Glitches from USA Gold / Silver are present in Japanese Crystal. These are all the changes I noticed.
I think that the longer the video are, the better. I don't want a 20:00 long video, but I would like to get around 15:00... So get as many topics, and things, and easter eggs in there as possible. PS: I really like these videos, keep it up! :)
I think talking about regional changes would be awesome; knowing whether something was improved what transferring over seas or if we missed out on something cool.
This video was very helpful for helping me pick a game for virtual console. My sister got gold, and since I already have HeartGold, I'm considering getting Silver. Thanks, Candy!
There’s also text differences for Professor Elm: In Silver and Gold there is no additional text after he gives you his number. But in Crystal he says “______, I’m counting on you”! After he tells you you can use his healing machine if your Pokémon is hurt.
There technically IS one difference between the Japanese and English version of Crystal, the Mobile Center of Goldenrod City in the Japanese version coz of the game's mobile phone connectivity
I have played pokemon since Gen 1, but to be honest, i was to young to ever appreciate the first generation. But my god, I saw crystal and all of a sudden, the hype was real, it brought back so many memories and made me actually dig it up, replace the battery and start replaying it.
Slight correction, the first instance of trainers battling you at certain times of day was in Gold and Silver, where the Policemen in the route North and South of Goldenrod will only battle you at night.
Honestly, you do a better job advertising for Pokemon then Nintendo. I might even wait till your Ultra Sun Ultra Moon differences video before buying the game. Simply as you make things sound more interesting.
Great video as well as the differences of Gen 1. Can't wait for Gen 3! Speaking of which, are you going to include the remakes of Red and Blue/Green FireRed and LeafGreen or "just" Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald?
Pokemon Crystal was better then Gold and Silver the only problem is that Mareep is exclusive to Gold and Silver.
my exact thoughts
Why do people like mareep so much? There are other pokemon better then it, in my opion
@@theenderjack54minecraftpvz69 Because it's final evolution is FREAKIN' AWESOME & POWERFUL AS HECK!! THAT'S WHY!!😂😂👍👍
mareep being gold and silver exclusive is fucking bullshit I just got crystal version on my 3ds today
Why is mareep my second fav johto electric not in Crystal
The beauty of Crystal is that Extremespeed Dratini. Once transferred up to USUM, that move can be used as an egg move.
This Dratini can also be shiny.
You can also get the Extreme Speed Dratini from the Gen 2 remakes, if you bothered to try

Going through all the games is more satisfying. I've done it.

@obbygift the amount of effort you put in the answer to only deny something so true... I'd say... TRIGGERED
Wait, I can't get Mareep or Vulpix in Pokemon Crystal?

I would love to see the regional changes! This series is really interesting to someone who likes random trivia, like me.
Well, for one thing, the exclusivity of the Teddiursa and Phanpy lines were swapped over in the Japanese and Korean versions.
That's honestly pretty interesting.
Even though I knew of Pokémon and even started watching the animé from the very first Kanto episode, Johto was actually my generation of Pokémon. It all started here for me. Gen1 is good but nothing gives me more nostalgia than Gen2 Johto generation. :-)
I started with pokemon blue but I got stuck for so long on silver that it is my favorite one today
Yeah all the johto games are my favorite they are just really fun to play doesn't matter which version there all good
@marianne mccrank Got gold for 6th birthday, it was my first pokemon game ever too :)
I got Pokemon Gold first, and I totally agree. My second was Yellow, and while I loved it too, pokemon gold is always gonna give me the feels
Same. Gen 2 for life!
Yes please do regional changes! Even GSC has regional changes, like Teddiursa and Phanpy (IIRC) being changed to which version they're exclusive to outside of Asia
Yup, I had that noted down ;)
What are you doing here ? Go, search for Kira, Okuyasu-kun.
DO IT PLEASE
Agreed
Magdalena K You're a virus ya know that?!?!?!
Crystal has such a special place in my heart.
Gold is my childhood
I started with Silver
I started with Fire Red and Gold. I feel Crystal better.
I didn’t appreciate how wonderful this game was back when I played it. Now I realize it truly was a masterpiece that later games could not capture the magic of. You can tell just how much heart went into these games and the creators put their soul into making this as beautiful as possible.
I just recently purchased all 3 not knowing how similar they are so thanks for clearing this up

I just love Goldenrod city music so much. It does bring good and bad (Whitney's Miltank) memories at the same time.
Fun Fact: In HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Teddiursa and Phanpy lines were swapped as version exclusives.
This means Phanpy and Donphan are available in HeartGold while Teddiursa and Ursaring are avaliable in SoulSilver

Gold, Silver and Crystal. So many memories with the game. Even though I think Heartgold and Soulsilver are the better version to play, the original still holds up really well. Still one of my favorite Pokemon games of the series.
Obviously heart good and soul silver are better versions than one made nearly a decade ago!
@MistahBuss lol ikr, even the remakes are over a decade old
My favorite part was I could transfer my Pokémon from yellow to crystal growing up.

Like in the Japanese version of Pokemon Crystal... the GS Ball event to catch Celebi and the whole cell phone connection thing
I know plus you can use a cheat device as well, but I think that consider a different type of video

Pokemon Silver was my first true Pokemon game, it gives me so many chills! I never beat it (and unfortunately my copy of this game has been lost to time, along with my original Gameboy Advance) but it set me on the path to my Pokemon loving journey

Almost 20 years later and I’m still heated about the fact they took out the mareep line
pokemon Gold was the last pokemon game I own thanks for the advice on silver and crystal.
Small note with the Odd Egg: the Japanese version of Crystal gives it a 50% chance of being shiny, but the egg itself is locked behind an event item.
Differences between Crystal and Vietnamese Crystal:
- Items, Pokemon, and moves are renamed.
- Participating in the bug-catching contest (and a few other things) are likely to crash the game (save data is unaffected, to just save often and it won't be much of a problem).
- Volcano Bakemeat.
It seems as if Sun and Moon is going to be the game with the most version differences
Nice, do Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald next! I subscribed because I love these videos! Keep it up!

Anyone else just absolutely love the silver sprites?
They're very unique. Gold and Crystal are basically the same, but Silver has a certain flare to it
For the longest time I had no idea why "crystal" was the better version of the metallics (gold/silver), until I looked into it. i'd like you to combine regional changes with version differences so you put them in a single video! nice video btw
I got so pissed off that Mareep wasn't available in Crystal. It's always my second-in-command in the Johto games.
Hands down best Pokemon game.
I most of the time try to avoid as many trainers as possible because my Pokémon some times are at low HP

Seriously, the fact that you can't catch Mareep in Crystal is BS for me.
why is this chick cooler than tamashii?
Kaiser-PunkTM is tamashii the one in Ruby destiny reign of legends?
Punk-Kaiser Because she's more tolerable and doesn't close her comment section like a twat
Because she doesn't try to force her feminist views in regards to Pokémon games down her viewers' throats, unlike the latter.
Because she actually uploads.
Tamashii tries to shove feminist bullshit into *pokemon games*. it makes her very unlikable
Imagine extreme speed in Red and Blue; you’d be unstoppable do to crits being synced with speed stats.
I think talking about regional changes would be awesome; knowing whether something was improved what transferring over seas or if we missed out on something cool.

why not just get Crystal on 3ds instead of Silver
