Dark Summit Is Too Good To Be Considered Bad, Too Bad To Be Considered Great

- With Twisted Metal Month wound to a close, we go back to the normal videos. Dark Summit was a contender for Shovelware I Dig, but after playing it from start to finish, it transcended that category into being alright. Below the weird surface lies a competent snowboarding action game where you take control of an undercover FBI agent trying to get to the bottom of a heist to blow up a mountain.

I've beaten this game about a couple of years ago and what surprised me the most was that eerie atmosphere and almost horror-like vibes on some of the slopes at night, where there is just your character, dirty snow and distant echoes of public service announcement stating that Chief only wishes us well. I was quite frustrated by the abrupt way the story ended, leaving so many questions and not closing some of the plot threads. For example, what happened to Chief after he disappeared? Although I had some good moments with Dark Summit and can't call it a bad game, the overall impression was quite mixed for me :)
I LOVED this game as a kid. I used to play it in the GameCube.
It was one of my very first games on my first console (NGC), it has this ominous feel to it derived from the game's atmosphere, wacky moments and my young brain that i haven't been able to forget this game(nor do i want to). Plus it took me literal ages to complete it, last couple maps used to scare me. Your video's tittle is pretty much on point. Nice video man.
I really dig the Orwellian Y2K asthetic this game has. It's just so disturbing and unique. Also the Dark Drum n' Bass soundtrack is just amazing.
I remember seeing an ad for this game in a copy of Nintendo Power?
ok?
I loved this game even tho it wasnt that great and was very random.
Played it a fair amount back on the Gamecube. Was entertaining enough to keep me coming back but yes...the game had a weird vibe to it.
Can't believe you didn't put OoT in its own tier.
Doesn’t even make the tier list
