I played this game so much on my gamecube.
Me too. I recently replayed it on Dolph- I mean the gamecube.
Same. It's one of my favorites.
@@paraplonk7269 Check out our remaster! discord.gg/EDKEF5
Omg lol. I did too !!!!
WHAT THE FUCK?!
I thought it was just playstation. I have never seen it for GameCube or Xbox😭😭😭
This game seemly gets forgotten about, and love how you're covering some of the more obscure titles from the 6th generation. It's my favourite generation purely on the basis of the OG Xbox and its excellent library. Very nostalgic time for me.
I find Xbox versions of multiplatform titles from that gen don't get enough love. But maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, too.
Check out our remaster! discord.gg/EDKEF5
I feel the same way about the GameCube. It’s my favorite system ever.
@@SerafiniAGaunt do you have a newer link?
Gauntlet Dark legacy on the PS2 was really fun
Vegetaplays The ps2 is how I played both legends and dark legacy. Same
I LOVE this game!! I just don't understand why they never made it backwards compatible with the 360 or even Xbone! It's readily 4 players and could easily be set up for achievements. Sigh...Thanks for reviewing this. I have now subbed!
One of the greatest games of all time!
I spent countless hours on this game. I can only hope for a remaster.
Truly. Hundreds of hours of fun with friends.
@@donaldduck119 I really hope they revive this
Indeed!!!!!!!!
I really do agree. Yeah it's repetitive but it's so fun. So many good times and countless hours spent playing this.
Currently playing through this game with my 8 year old daughter. Recently bought a PS2 to relive childhood memories with her together. So many amazing games to choose from on PS2, I don't miss modern gaming at all.
This is hands down one of my all time favorite games. It was one of the first games i got for ps2 and i remember having the multitap and playing with my brother and parents. Clicked on this as soon as i saw the thumbnail
I really wish they will remake this series going forward into 2020+ love this game and many more Conker's Bad furday deserves a true remaster/remake with online support as does Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy
We are! :) We have a short prototype with the red warrior. Come see! discord.gg/EDKEF5
Just get dolphin emulator and play gauntlet on the highest resolution and its basically an HD remake
@@aqua8083 that's what I do. It works great on the phone granted it's a newer phone
Who else used to play with the jester? He was always my favorite.
Jester is the best character honestly
I was always jester lol
My best friend at the time always played Jester, so I leveled my version of Jester was my solo character. His speed definitely made him fun. But in co-op with my friend group I used my Dwarf a lot. But we all had multiple characters for different friend configurations.
I just got a copy of this game off EBay. I loved Legends on Dreamcast, which I beat a number of times years ago. I like my modern games, like Cyberpunk 2077, etc. But, as an older and Solo player, I love Games like this. Even as a kid on the Colecovision, NES, etc. I was solo probably 90% of the time. I got burned out from 2007 to around 2018 with being online with games like COD and Destiny. They’re fun, but repetitive, and there’s a lot of toxic cheaters online. Especially First person shooters. I’m actually happier and more relaxed playing solo games. Old and new. Nice video! 👍
Amazing soundtrack in this game :^)
Blue Wizard yes
agreed
Love this game! In college, my roommates and I would spend hours playing this. A lot of the enjoyment comes from playing with your friends due to it - as you perfectly said - being "repetitive as fuck".
It never seemed repetitive when you played with friends for some reason. They’d be yelling at my stumpy dwarf to hurry up because he has the slowest rate of movement and would slow down the group’s progress on levels. But when the enemies got close it was always my dwarf rushing in to save their fast asses
This game was my childhood. I played it on the PS2.
This is the first video game That I ever played :D
Always looking forward to your reviews man! Never know what to expect and that’s awesome.
No. It's not always best to engage from a distance. Using the melee combos (not the team combos) allows for crowd control. You can do these combos by pressing the heavy-attack after a succession of quick melee attacks. Depending on how many quick-attacks you can squeeze in before pressing the heavy-attack button will determine the combo move performed. It's actually much nicer to turn OFF the auto-attack option in the menu in order to make the melee combos more intentional.
Also, you should have mentioned that you can use potions in three different ways: tapping the potion button simply uses the potion like normal; double tapping will wrap the player in a magic shield; and holding the potion button will throw the potion like a grenade.
I don't think you mentioned that you could strafe either, which is very important when fighting bosses or avoiding arrows in a mob. You can also dash to stagger the generals (although it doesn't always work), or zip past those annoying spike traps; plus dashing automatically puts you block mode, so if something hits you while you're on the move it will be blocked.
The heavy attack can make golem monsters flinch (put their guard up), which you can use as time to build up a melee combo on them, or just wait for the shield to come down and blast them with a special attack.
I could go on, but I don't want to write a book here.
I hate to say it buddy, but you fell victim to Gauntlet: Dark Legacy's inability to teach players the finer details. You shouldn't have to replay any levels to beat this game even on hard difficulty (unless you missed a crystal or something). I personally enjoy ignoring the shop to really add a survival feel to the game.
I had it for the GameCube. My best friend and I played together SO much. We both had a copy for the cube so we each played solo at home if we unlocked a new character we wanted to use in co-op and needed to level it. We had multiple different playthroughs that we utilized for different configurations of friends. Hundreds of hours of fun. Such an amazing game.
12:00 and with that, the most honest assessment was made in our timeline.
Man, this game was amazing when I was a kid. I’m going to pick up a copy
I just saw a sealed copy on ebay for n64 for like $1500 im so mad i lost my copy😂😭
I always play this with my brother and the cooperation saves us from the repetitive levels. Who needs food more? Who has less potions? Low on keys, you can get the key ring bro, stuff like that. We only compete against each other when it comes to XP and who can punch the bosses more without being knocked down. Farming the bosses was always fun because we'd fight to get the kill.
God forbid we're separated on screen and one of us is attacked by Death. That's when we panic. And the combo powers are phenomenal, especially if you have the sorceress which is who I main (Medusa actually), if she activated the combo move, any gargoyle, general or golem is a 1-shot down. Super OP.
It feels good seeing all of this footage with Red Archer. She's my go-to
This is by far the greatest and most lengthy gauntlet of all time! In which other versions afterwards are lack luster and hollow! Very upsetting this game has not been ported to psn or ps4, very upsetting! INDEED!
We're working on a remaster! :D Come see! discord.gg/EDKEF5
The soundtrack is really spectacular. If there is anything about this game that still stands out and holds up to modern titles, it’s definitely the mood and feel of each stage
this was a superb review, the only thing I wish you covered better was the different characters
I love this one. I hate the gauntlet on the PS4. Dark Legacy is just amazing.
Just picked uo this game for the OG xbox and started playing last night. Great video, lots of good info, still five years later.
U made my night brother thanks for the upload
Memories unlocked lmao. I remember constantly hearing blue wizard leveled up😂
Gaming Pastime is the ultimate put-on-to-go-the-sleep show for me. Not that it's boring, but the narration is so smooth, the games are always fresh, and there always seems to been an episode I haven't seen before. Keep it up guys.
I bought the four player multi controller for on the PS2 just for this game. It’s one of my most cherished game memories from my college years.
You not the only one. I love this series
Ahhh the childhood nostalgia this was one of mine and my mums favorite games when I was a child it's a pretty rare game so im lucky to have been able to play this gem
Antideath halo is probably the best item :)
Any plans on reviewing Seven Sorrows and 2014
Hello! What’s is the closet game I can play this? I own Xbox one x, PS4 Pro and switch.
Will you ever Review Conflict Desert storm? The Cooperative play on those games (Desert storm series) is awesome !!!
Is this on xbox one? Or can you get it on the wii ?
My first exposure to this game was the arcade game long ago, then at my cousin's house on his PS2, then I bought the Gamecube version. What's weird about that version is that enemy health bars don't appear for whatever reason.
I played Green Archer, my two older brothers played “Blue Warrior” and I forget the color, but the “Jester”
Playing with multiple people can be annoying sometimes though (if they like being a smartass), since if someone wants to stay in the environment, all players have to move their characters to the next trail progression. All players have to progress and sometimes the “scenes” make one or two players lag behind and get past the hazards while the other player has already passed them
Thank you for this, you're an OG man keep it up 🤑🤟👽
i remember this game fondly playing with friends at an arcade
Melee combos, he didnt do one of them, thats the main reason i played this game lmdao
Always loved playing gauntlet back on the ps2 when I was younger and had the other gauntlet on ps1. The dwarf was my favorite character 😂
I remember plugging in 4 controllers and farming that worm boss and collecting all the money on one character lol
I miss this game so much!
Keep em coming!
Replay value out of this world. My cousin and I once sat down and replayed the entire game in one night. Great memories.
Great game. Nice reviews man
I loved the inventory System on the N64. I loved selling all my items to help me purchase permanent upgrades -
Can you do that on dark legacy?
Love this game so much, anyone have a ROM for it? Every one I find alerts my computer about viruses :(
Is this backwards compatible with the xbox one?
If they made a remaster to this game I’d buy it
My dad used to play this with us as kids, definitely a good time for the family lol
I need someone to make a video about all the ports and if there is a difference between the ports.
Not too many differences for Gauntlet: Dark Legacy ports (that I know of), except for the PS2 version which does NOT have a player inventory; whereas Gamecube and Xbox have them. And the American Gamecube version does have quite a few bugs: like a few of the legendary weapons don't work, or the bug where your eleventh item is inaccessible for the entire game.
Gahd yes, fantastic game. Did a 3 player playthrough with my friends just this year. So good!
I really wish this series would get a proper remaster or PC port, so much fun co-op potential here. Myself and 2 friends spent a Saturday and just ran through the whole game in 15 hours of backstabbing fun.
This game needs publish this was my favorite game
We're working on a remaster! :D discord.gg/EDKEF5
The first realm use to scare me, to the point where I couldn't sleep lol
Very informative. The exploit and hints could've stayed out, it's always more fun to discover those things yourself imo.
I'm only a minute into the video and I'm shocked that anyone can willingly hate Gauntlet. This game will be in my casket at my funeral.
The most slept on game ever had hella fun with family and friends.💯
You've been tapdancing on my childhood with your reviews.
Awww. you did not mention the anti-death items.
Where my Yellow Wizards at?
I am getting bored with the current titles I have so I’ve been looking up throwback games I used to play at my friends house on their Xbox growing up and this is the gem of the bunch
I remember playing this game during my first year of college. I had such a fun time playing as either a Warrior, Elf, Valkyrie or Knight and fighting the Lich Executioner.
I do wish that there would be a new Gauntlet game sometime in 2025 or 2026 for both the PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch. A new Gauntlet Game where you can play more classes than just the female Human blue Valkyrie with a sword, male Human red Warrior with an axe, male Elf Green Archer with a bow and arrow and female Human Yellow Wizard with a staff
Here are my ideas for the new classes for the new Gauntlet game
Human Paladin. Color: White. Weapon: Hammer. Male
Halfling Thief. Color: Purple. Weapon: Daggers. Male
Dark Elf Warlock. Color: Black. Weapon: Wand. Female
Dwarven Engineer. Color: Orange. Weapon: Rifle. Male
Ogre Barbarian. Color: Crimson. Weapon: Axes. Male
Faun Amazonian. Color: Brown. Weapon: Spear. Female
Human Songstress. Color: Pink. Weapon: Lute. female
Merfolk Guardian. Color: Cyan. Weapon: Trident. Female
Kitsune Samurai. Color: Gold. Weapon: Katana. Male
Djinn Bandit. Color: Silver. Weapon: Daggers. Male
Does anyone know if they're making a new one?
We're making a remaster of the game! Come check it out! discord.gg/EDKEF5
Midway is so associated with MK for me, i never really considered they had other titles. Neat!
I loved this game so much. Played with my cousins when I was ages 4-10.
this Halo 1 and 2 Fuzion Frenzy Simpsons Hit and Run were my favorite games on original xbox
I have it for GC but the Xbox has a better resolution so I’m looking to pick it up. I’m sure it will look even better using the Pound Link adapter and mCable. This game is awesome. We played it but didn’t finish it a couple of years ago due to my dodgy capture device at the time.. Looking to start over on Xbox and finally beat it.
so much nostalgia, super fun
You should review bully scholarship edition.
I still have Gauntlet Ledgends on the N64, I had a lot of fun with it!
I love the arcade-y fun of this game. Thanks for talking about it. 😁
First played this yeeeeeeaaaaaars ago with my friend, who's now a huge RPG buff. He _loathes_ this (for basically the same reasons you mentioned), but I have a big soft spot for it, especially since we don't see a lot of these types of games or even this particularly more colourful form of *swords and sorcery* anymore. Must hunt down a copy for myself.
Thinking about it, GDL reminds me of the original _Marvel Ultimate Alliance_ (that's well worth a look) in that it's more _an arcade, action brawler with RPG elements,_ rather than a straight RPG, if ya get me.
me and my brother use to play this all the time. good ol dayz
No, you are not the only one. I love Gauntlet games since I played Gauntlet 2 on my NES. Later got Gauntlet 4 on Sega Mega Drive and Gauntlet Legends on N64, loved that. Though I had a Sega Dreamcast ... I only played Phantasy Star Online on it ... no Gauntlet Dark Legacy which I regret.
Plan and simple if anyone has played the series from 85', should know repeativeness is what gauntlet is FOREVER about. If your as old as I am, this is what you felt this series should've evolved too which made it much fun
Good grief those HIDEOUS camera angles, that's one thing I don't miss but the gameplay still looks super great.
This game is honestly one of my favorites
i always have loved this game. i dont think ive ever beat it but i love it
This game was the shit on the ps2 when i was in middle school
Hey guys! My team is working on a remaster of this game. So far, we have a working prototype available to watch with Red Warrior. Come see on our Discord! discord.gg/eNqSenD
I wish gauntlet had a comeback
As soon as I booted up Mortal Kombat Deception on my ps2, I'm gosh, what's that one game I rented from Movie Gallery and played with my neighbor friends!? Once I got to the G's on Metacritic on all ps2 games ever, as soon as I saw the case that I somewhat remembered what it resembled which was a bunch of characters with a green color to it. I saw it and I'm like, I'm 99% sure this is it! And after hearing the diablo like gameplay and sound effects. I'm like Amazon that shit right now! Here it comes! So excited 😁
Imagine they did a Gauntlet dark legacy type game but with Nicktoon characters like you have Spongebob as a Knight Danny Phantom as the Warrior Jimmy Neutron as the Dwarf Timmy as the Wizard Jenny as the Archer Zim as the Jester and Kitty Katswell from Tuff Puppy as the Valkyrie and finally Lucy Loud as the Sorceress and they have 1 Nicktoon character that is the same class as them that you have to unlock with the coin mini game and they use weapons from their universe on the monsters.
What's the game called?
Epic video !!!
Aw man the N64 Gauntlet was easily the best version of the game and I played it so much with my friends. Gauntlet 2014 was fine, but wasn't as fun or memorable as the arcade games were. I'd love to get a new arcadey gauntlet game that I could play through with my friends, maybe with a little bit of extra depth to the characters.
I honestly think these games should get a full remaster
All ranges seems like it would get boring to me because not enough to differentiate between
I have it on the ps2 Xbox and GameCube playing GameCube version again
AYYY
I missed this game!!
Im playing this on my steam deck and im hoping they remaster this one day
I LOVED THIS SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!
I love this game on ps2 and on arcade
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows was my favorite game in this series
Bro I love this Game!
also if you hit death 100 times with a ranged attack it goes away
I need this for the switch
Swear to gawd this game had some of my favorite boss battles
