2:37 Slight correction: Black does have melee attacks you could've taken advantage of in the number of close quarter opportunities with whatever custom control scheme you prefer to boot.

What do you mean ? Black has been backwards compatible with the 360 (not sure about the X BOX ONE because I never had that console) & I’ve just spent the last hour playing it on my X Box Series X.

I only every played black at the arse end of the 360 era, it felt very much like a "what if Golden Eye was made today" kind of vibe and I had a lot of fun playing it.

Black is hands down one of the best FPS games that came out in in the Xbox/PS2 era, and its criminally underrated imo.
This will always be in my Top 10 PS2 games. Might have to take a break from playing Borderlands 2 on PS3 and plug my PS2 in, and play some Black tonight.

0:50 the G36 has a suppressor mounted on the gas tube because Criterion thought that was the barrel.

There's a few firearm bastardizations in Black. The people who modeled these guns were definitely not gun people. 😂

​@@IISG93III particularly like the MP5 bolt handle that locks itself in the bolt catch when reloading. That and the M16 with its two forward assists and vietnam era 20 round magazine that holds 95 rounds.

Another solid review!
I was mildly positive about it on release. The marketing called it "gun porn", and that's true enough. It's a solid shooter and it did things nothing else was doing at the time (besides Volition with Red Faction) in terms of destruction tech. I also followed the story with interest and was disappointed that it didn't get a sequel. It's worth playing and I actually plan to revisit it after watching this review.

I was living in Spain when the game was released and I remember seeing it on TV on a program about games on I think tele 5 channel. Every time I replay it now I think about that and I can't remember the name if that program.

I remember playing this on release... I just found it to be OK. Competent, but bland. The lack of multiplayer doesn't help. Even, middle of the Road shooters such as Project Snowblind had multi-player. Certainly not as impressive as Doom 3, Far Cry Instincts etc. from that same era on the Xbox.

Wow, the firearm models (and their associated sounds) in this game are all sorts of f’d up, like to the point of absolute distraction. And, as always, thank you for your fine videos. For years, I’ve looked forward to your videos because they mean the week is finally over and now it’s time for me to enjoy life.

I never liked the whole "Player Character being interogated" concept in Battlefield 3's story mode, so you'd think I wouldn't like it here, but no, I actually like it in this game.
The only reason why I hated BF3's campaign is because the two people interrogating the player character are incompetent and too dumb to realize that the informant is actually a traitor and they should do something to stop him, probably have the player character to help them out, but nope, they act stupid and blame the player character.
