And that's beautiful of it that fans won't realize, like who wouldn't want to see sweet tooth as a badass little boy tearing up the neighborhood 😈. Straight up this game needs a remake.
There's something about RC car games on the PS1 set in a normal world where everything just seems huge.. still makes me feel something i can't explain.
theres a full game like that called Hypercharge: Unboxed, its a FPS but it is 100% the small person (action figure) in big world theme
Funny you mentioned the hand-me-down aspect of the PS1 after the PS2 was released as I bought my first new PS2 just to play the then new "Twisted Metal Black" & I gave my daughter my good working old PS1 & bought her "Twisted Metal Small Brawl" along with other PS1 kid-like games,, she loved it & I enjoyed playing it with her!
The highlight for me of this game was the return of Crimson Fury haha
As a kid me speaking, this was my favorite game of all time.
But now as an adult, MGS V took the title away. But I still appreciate it for what it did to me, I would not be here gaming if it weren't for this particular little game.
Whatever it is, Small Brawl always has a special spot in my heart. Should there a remake of sort for this game, I would cry of happiness and I will not ashamed to admit or does it.
I wish they'd remaster this whole series and then just improve or add on some things missing from each entry. Would be awesome on PS5.
Honestly I find this to be an enjoyable game in the series. I can get some whiplash with the tone coming off of Black but every time I hear that I can't help but think about how Black itself is also a huge tonal change from the series overall. The series overall has always kind of sat somewhere in the middle with a lot of goofiness and seriousness mixed together and both Black and Small Brawl seem to then have been two sides of the Twisted Metal coin. One side is the edgy, dark, serious side and the other is the goofy, kiddy, fun side.
My first impression of the game wasn't so good. But it's the one I play the most now because I ended up using every character and learning the quirks of their special moves. Finding a way to love the game was what made me fall in love with it. Getting a gameshark and reliving my Twisted Metal love with unplayable cars was what also helped me enjoy this game further. I want to say Outlaw is probably the strongest vehicle in game. Because the special does not break ice and you can rapid tap the button to get your health back.
An underrated game in the series imo.
I know it’s not supposed to be taken too seriously but honestly, I’d be curious what a Twisted Metal game with these characters as teenagers would look like, especially in this world story wise 👀
4 and Small Brawl were my favorite PS1 entries for the series, really liked Black and Head on too, but I think SB is #2 for me overall cuz it does so many things right, especially the level design!
The level design in this game is amazing. This and Sarge's Heroes are some of my favorite games simply do to the toy aspect with somewhat mature tones being subjected into the material.

I like this because it was the first Twisted Metal game I've played,
yes I played Small Brawl and Several years later Black,
I think small brawl is way more special and unique than the 3 & 4 garbage. It does set the tone from it predecessor into a colorful universe where sweettooth is the type of brat that would piss on his neighbors cat or crash a whole ice cream track into a light pole (a lil daredevil). He just a badass kid, and TM fans would never think "what if" with the series. Black is dark and small brawl is whimsical, they both are special in their own way rather fans dont like it or not. Small brawl is definitely a classic, I would hyped and excited if it gets a remake to todays gaming, its definitely needed.
I found Blue's channel only a week ago and I've been hooked. As a long-time TM fan I have enjoyed seeing someone's "first time experience" with the classic games and now he has brought me to your channel! Great video and I too am a fan of Small Brawl (even with it's short comings) just for what it is and how the gameplay and level design still hold up today. Subbed!
While not my favourite Small Brawl holds a special place in my heart, I still come back to replay it at least once every year. SB has the best OST

just wish the core gameplay and campaign was better. I still would love to do this in real life with RC cars! I swear I will build a functional RC replica of Sweet Tooth laugh and all!
I liked this one, better than 3, & 4 for sure. One thing i didn't like about this one was that i couldn't figure out how to set my controller to the ol Run N Gun setting.😉 T.M. fans know what i mean.

Crazy to think that this game is canon, not only to the series, but to our real world as well.
Oh yes this game made by the team who did Twisted Metal Black and this game is for the Teens and tweens. Now the PS3 game made by Eat Sleep Play before they went to mobile games with Zynga and David Jaffe left the company to form The Bartlett Jones Detective Agency a video game developer that did Drawn to Death before it closed. And now David Jaffe is doing streaming on RUclips. David Jaffe a creator of Twisted Metal and God of War who did everything.
Probably my favorite PS1 Twisted Metal after 2 and maybe 1. The levels are very creative and has one of the best soundtracks in the series (most being remixes from TM1 and TM2 tracks). My only complain is that the gameplay feels a bit slower compared to the original 2 and that it introduced only 3 new characters (would have been 2 if Minion ended up being used).
Agree completely. Except the slowness. I'd expect rc cars to go slower then real ones lol. Also wish they would've added drivers and endings to the bonus cars. Axel is the only one and he only appears in the intro cutscene. This game was supposed to be a PS2 release with better graphics and more features but Sony didn't want to draw attention from Black so they watered it down to the PS1. Great game but it sucks knowing so much was cut. Would love to see a remaster with all the original ideas added in.
always wanted this game as a kid, but never did. Watching this, I love the innovation behind the arenas! Maybe I will get around to this one, just to see.

I’m a sucker for any shrunken down levels in video games… disneys extreme skate adventure, the shrunken levels in duke nukem forever, this, Toy Story… give me them all!!
Try Hypercharge: Unboxed, its like Halo but you are action figure sized and tons of details in the maps

@under10hours Nice video, SB did share elements with TMBO and Vigilante 8. This game was supposed to be on PS2, but a fair way into development Sony had us move it to PS1 so there wouldn't be two TMs on the same console around the same time. This caused the game to be rewritten from scratch with shortened development time. Also the engine was not the TM2 engine, SB engine was rewritten from scratch during game development.
This would’ve been amazing on ps2 … a two pack with black would’ve been epic

I know the theme is having one twisted metal tournament per year, but they could take more time in these games, not that they are bad ( except 4 ) , but more time of development would have made each game more unique and better,it also dint help that they decided to do the custcenes in cgi after TM3 , the comic cutscenes were probaly less expensive and faster to make
Nice intro for the video there good sir. Always did loved this game even if most people don't like it I think it was neat and really love the first level because it's peak childhood right there at least for me, also loved the character each level had. Some folks should just take it for what it is rather then looking at it compared to black sure it has it's issues won't deny that, I will agree some of the endings were different the soundtrack is top tier however.
I thought you guys would complain about traps and instant kills enviroment because it has too many, guess this is only my complain...
I've never played this one, as a teen I thought the theming was dumb, but as an adult I kinda like it cause... honestly kinda fits with some of the wanna be serious but still kinda jokey tone of the original. Also it removes what I feel is some of the problems with black going waaaaay too grimdark. Also I've always liked the aesthetic of micro machines kind of thing where you can use everyday objects as obstacles cause you're small.

I won't lie, I'm disappointed there hasn't been an accidental lyric drop from "One Week" yet. However, this has been redeemed by the inclusion of our boi BlueTag, as I understood the same amount of what he said about as much as I understand the verses on "One Week" without looking at the lyrics. Nicely done, guys!

Oh no, pls no cancel!!! 😭Your videos are perfectly lovely; it's that the audio mixing for your videos is different from Under10's here, so I had a hard time understanding you at first in this video and really only in this video. When I changed my browser's audio settings in your section to add some more bass, I could understand you just fine.

I would say my issue with small brawl is how floaty it is.
I absolutely love this game. my fav on ps1. the levels are fun, a lot of clever interactions on them, the style is good. yea, it's cartoony, and different from the other entries, but is that really a problem for some? the characters are ok, can't remember a really bad ending. well, at least they are much creative than in 3 & 4. and yes, totally love rc cars, mb that's the main reason for me
The premise is really stupid but if you can get past that there's actually a pretty fun game in there
This reminded me of Toy Story for PS1 which I remember being somewhat decent(?). You should review some more licensed games lmao.

@@val1703 I've got both! 😇 Let's call them PS2 revisits as opposed to remasters. Just glad to have them available, but sadly lacking Sly, Ratchet, and Jak (though the latter had a limited run which is now crazy expensive). Anywhô game on, my friend! 🤘
I'm honestly annoyed with how many people just shit on four literally every RUclips reviewer in there mid 20s-30s always complains about it mostly cause it was made by 989.
But as a 4 year old Playing this game it was awesome. And it made me get the rest of the rest of the mainline PS1 games including black making it my favorite playstation franchise excluding the ps3 version.
They had the perfect formula with black and they just threw it away for a reboot.
