I want a re-release of this, Shadow of Rome, and Haunting Grounds. Call it a Capcom Hidden Gem Collection.
That's a genius plan. Get on the phone!
@@MrHammers
On it.
"Hello Gurty, get me Mr. Capcom on line 2."
Also God Hand too. Another underrated gem from Capcom
@@MrHammers nah no one from this generation forgot it. Of course new gamers dont know old games well. So do we just call every ps1 and ps2 game underrated and hidden gem. Cause I feel like if you scroll through comments on any older game people just say omg its underrated. I guess everything on earth is underrated or hidden gem if its older.
@@shadowofsparta4568 not underrated its known during it's time. That's what I'm trying to say everyone calls every game they happen to like underrated or hidden gem and it's like no they arent. I love this game too but I watch alot of videos and play alot of games. People really do call every game they like underrated or hidden gem if it's old. Only reason it's not known is by new gamers. I think if it was known during its era it's not underrated then . Cause like I said we can just say every old game is not known by new gamers.
I had almost forgotten about this game. What a flashback of fun memories. Might have to emulate this myself.
Ah yes, the good days of playing original Xbox. We were blessed with games like Darkwatch, Raze's Hell, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Stubbs The Zombie, Fable, Oddworld Stranger's Wrath, and more super fun, unique games.
Xbox had some bangers, I was a PS2 guy myself, but I loved going to friends houses to play some Xbox jams
The classics 👍 Never did play Razes' Hell though.
W.E.T was badass too
I'll be a Stubbs the Zombie stan till the day I die
All those are classics glad to see I’m not the only one who enjoyed those gems
RIP High Moon Studios. I really liked their Transformers games but I I wished they had made Darkwatch 2 on the xbox 360 and ps3
really appreciate the extra digging you do on the development of the games you cover
Thanks dude!
I never realized the symbolism in the two endings just makes it even cooler
When the Hunt Showdown main theme started playing in the video it gave me a good chuckle, I can see that game taking inspiration from Darkwatch. The bladed buttstock really reminded me of the talon weapons in Hunt, love that they put in more than simple bayonets.
The hunt soundtrack is just dope and for the feel for the video tbh 🤣
@@MrHammers Hunt Showdown next?
Prob not! Hahaha
This game was the most memorable co-op experience of my childhood. When I was 12, me & my friend Bernie played through the entire game & we had an absolute blast. Since we could only play for a few hours each day after school, it took some time. I haven’t talked to him at least 13 years. Hope he still remembers this game & our play through.
One of my all time favourites, the aesthetic, style, visuals, designs, themes, SOUNDTRACK and atmosphere of this game is one of a kind, besides having a damn fun COOP mode, is always a PLUS.
_and Tala..._
Cannot forget Tala, no matter how hard you try hahaha
Huge Comalonkas
Man this FPS Wild West mixed with horror and steam punk. Just bring so much nostalgia when I played this game in my PS2. It was fun and addicting and I remembered finishing this game twice, cause of this game has one of those good and bad endings. The story wasn’t memorable but the gameplay is one thing I enjoyed the most.
now darkwatch stands along shadow of rome and red dead revolver as games that should have received more love and a pc version
"and a PC version" this is the biggest sin tbh
@@MrHammers indeed hammers and what is even worse is how awfully optmized ps2 emulators are, when you can run ps3 games and above but cant run ps2 games properly, man that reminds me of ring of red and coliseum road to freedom
thanks for making this man this game deserves more recognition. it’s fun as hell!
So many of these 6th and 7th gen games would be lost to time without you. Thanks for digging up all of these classics
After playing Evil West, the western horror genre has my interest piqued immensely. I remember reading about this game in a gamer magazine, always wanted to check it out.
I honestly kind of found this game a year ago just looking for PS2 FPS games. I thought it was alright but the final fight against Tala was near rage-inducingly difficult even on the easiest difficulty (might be cuz I'm garbo at some FPS games ;-;).
me and my dad LOVED this game
That's badass xD
I remember my brother and I renting this from blockbuster over and over again. Had a ton of fun, I remember following the good path, I loved the idea of a western bandit becoming a vampire and going through a redemption arc. Those floating banshees and the giant trees with the skeletons stuck in them, lot of fond memories of this game, brings back a lot of nostalgic memories.
Wonderful video man, this was awesome!
Lots of good memories, thank you my friend
Okay wow that thumbnail looks like promo art for a new “Blood” game, I love it!
Please Microsoft, release High Moon and Raven Software from the Call of Duty prison and allow them to make the brilliant fps games they always made.
Raven also made the X Men Origins Wolverine game which was the complete opposite of the movie int that it was actually very good
I am pretty sure everyone that worked on those games quit or got fired long ago. High moon and raven might as well be different studios by now
Dude you bring the gold of all my childhood games that surprisingly never had anyone to talk about them with aside from my older brother. It's nice seeing these games get the recognition they truly deserve and I hope someone like you brings light to them seeing the potential to be remade and brought to glory of the new age tech 😭 a man can dream right?
Indeed! A man can only hope lol
It needs a sequel
Man, I love your content bro! Legit one of my favorite RUclipsrs, you just get such an amazing depth of the conceptual knowledge behind these gems from the past. Really appreciate your videos man! Wish you the best, I hope your channel goes viral
Hey thanks man! I appreciate that ☺️
Always get excited when I see new content from you my guy! Keep it up!
Thanks homie, that means a lot. Preciate it
This video was amazing. I’ve been wanting to play this game again for years and this video really helped scratch the itch.
I was just playing this game for the first time a few weeks ago and oh yeah...its definitely a hidden gem!
People may talk about there not being a while lot of good western games from back in the day, but Darkwatch
was among those forgotten western games that sadly never got the recognition it truly deserved. Its not perfect...
but what you'll find, is a great and well crafted FPS for its time. And in some odd ways, it feels like a predecessor to Doom 2016s
approach to the modern arena shooter.
Also, heres a fun fact. Take a close look at the box art for this game, and as well as Van Helsings box art. They look almost frickin
identical!
Haha that's interesting, Van Helsing came out right around the same time, it's kinda funny how similar.theu are to each other in many regards
It’s here- never even heard of this game but I’m ready!
Let's go!!
Your videos Mr.Hammers are so good covering so many hidden gems from the 6th and 7th generation, effect, tons of history of the games development and amazing work.
Thank you!
Great job once again Hammers, looking forward to the next one
Thank you my man 🙏
i just found yr channel today and immediately fell in love. i’ve been watching thru yr videos all afternoon man, keep up the good work
Thank you my man 🙏
I’ve never actually heard of this game but man I like your channel, you cover classic underrated hidden gems from the early 2000s which IMO was one of the best eras in gaming.
Thanks for the entertainment!
Thank you for watching!
Literally was thinking of the train sequence yesterday omfg 😂
Great video! Hope to see more in the future and maybe every week 🤞🏼
Thanks for coming up with something interesting again! And goddamn, this one I missed, despite it being right up my alley, by the looks of it.
I slipped my radar as well!
Loved this game as a kid. I had a 2nd grade teacher who loved video games too, and I wanted to recommend this to him but could never remember it. He died when I was in 4th grade, choking on a sandwich, so I'll never get the opportunity to tell him.
This was a roller coaster of a comment. Thank you
@@MrHammers I love your videos and the games you cover, even when you shit on games I like sometimes. You cover a lot of the games I love that nobody talks about. If you haven't already and you care to hear out some fella writing a RUclips comment while he poops, I recommend you play Condemned: Criminal Origins sometime, it's up there next to the suffering and silent hill 2 as my favorite horror games.
Thanks dude. I plan on playing condemned! I have it installed and everything just haven't booted it up. It will be fairly soon
What a tragic and stupid way to die.
@@grahamcarpenter5135 yeah you are correct about that
I love your outro, reminds me of when I get home from work, grab a pizza from the Pizzeria next door, take a coke out of the fridge and sit down to watch some youtube (usually there's weed involved). It's just so relaxing to me.
That's a great vibe dude. Love it haha
Grinbeard has a fantastic retrospective on Darkwatch.
The good days of playing PS2 we were blessed with game like darkwatch.
I loved this game and will be happy to replay it any hour of the day
I still have this on my Xbox . So underated . Great review man .
Thank you my dude
WOW! What a memory haha; I had a dream about this game last year I think actually and couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the game....till it popped up on my feed today! I love this video, even just skipping through most of it to see parts I remember from the game. Excellent job, dude! OH, one other thing I REALLY love that I noticed was at around the -Remembering Jericho...and Tala 28:16 timestamp, you used music that I've heard in HUNT: Showdown at this part; an excellent choice of music and game, and very appropriate for this haha. Nice moves on that there, proud of ya!
Looking forward to more after this! Cheers, mate!
Thank you! Haha glad you liked it. I appreciate that my friend
I love this game. My frost time playing through it definitely left a mark on my heart. I would love to play it again.
Nice vid as usual Hammer Man
Thank you TurtleHouse
I remember playing this game as a kid and now im mad i never finished it... Good video!
The fact this had three of the core creatives behind the Oddworld series behind it has got me interested in checking this out. Wish I could get it on the Switch.
Thank you for this! Such a great analysis. Keep the good content coming man. Time splitters would be another great one, or evil dead fist full of boo stick I believe was the good one. Either way thanks again for the great content.
Thanks for watching! I'd love to cover Timesplitters one of these days
@@MrHammers yea great videos on games I like even if I disagree with people over using the word underrated on every game I play. I have a excel sheet of like 100s of games I like. Doesnt matter which one I watch a video on I go in the comments and see someone say that's underrated. I'm like wtf everything isnt underrated 🤣🤣🤣
Yo evil dead was super fun
Allright buddy.
You have entered my algorithm.
I like what you're doing because you're saving me all the hassle of plugging in an old system to try and recapture glory in a time in my life where I'm unsure I like gaming anymore, or I just think it all used to be so much better than now.
Thanks bro
Glad to be of service. 🫡 I can also relate to your feeling lol
@@MrHammers have you done a video on The Suffering yet?
If not. Man. Give it a go.
I have! It's age restricted, but it's still on the channel
@@MrHammers bro yes!!!
Will look it up later for sure. Appreciate you homie
Co op was so much fun!
Yes been waiting so long
Thank you homie!
No, thank you!
I love this game, I own this game, and I play it at least once a year. It has inspired a couple characters and weapons in some TTRPGs I've played over the years
I am really happy u got to do this reveiw this game and i didnt know it had so many inspirations from movies or comics ,i always thought it was a unique way to get me into westerns just like how red dead revolver did for me tbh not alot of youtubers reveiw games from my childhood am grateful that u did 😌its perfection at its best thank u,
Thanks my man, I really enjoy digging in the vaults of older games and I'm happy people find joy in the nostalgia as well haha
@@MrHammers that's true especially older console games, keep up the grind ik for sure imma be watching ur videos after work ,and wat drew in into the channel was show u explained fallout and fallout 2 i never played them only one i have played was new vagas and 76 but it makes me wish they could remaster or remake the older games so new fans can enjoy them😌
Nice! I'd love for a.fallout 1 and 2 remake one day, I think a lot people don't get into the games because the gameplay is really dated now, but they are a great time
This game is so much of my childhood I'd love to see a newer version or remake.
Nobody ever knows what I'm talking about when I bring up my childhood game DarkWatch. It brings me comfort that people do know and appreciate it this day.
Just finished it today, it was really fun especially to play it while listening to something else
Keep it up fam, routing for you from Miami, FL!!
Hell yeah! Preciate ya
i played the hell out of this game on my dad's xbox when i went ot visit him and then bought it for my ps2 when i went back to my moms while growing up. i loved it. it was a fun shooter that was really enjoyable and honestly it would of been awesome to play dark watch set in different time periods and seeing how they combatted against the super natural to keep man kind alive.
Ya know it’s great how many content creators are now using the metroid soundtrack nowadays, brings a tear to my eye
Dude I remember this game. This shit was sooooooo fire man. Damn I remember playing this game but no1 ever knows what I'm talking about when I say a vampire cowboy lol. Great video man
Preciate it my dude. Game was really dope and slept on haha
That Hunt: Showdown music fits the atmosphere of this game pretty well.
I thought so lol
Killin it Mr.hammers
🙏
Another classic💯
Evil West is a spiritual successor in my book
love the use of the metroid and hunt ost
Loved playing the demo back in the day. I knew that someday I would play the hell outta this game.
...15 years later.
My Playstation 2 is broken.
MrHammers i thought i was going insane when i heard the hunt showdown music in the background, really thought i had the game running their music slaps (And the games kickass too)!
Music is dope as fuck. I haven't actually played the game, I am intrigued by it but none of my friends play it so I've never jumped in
This game was awesome I forgot the name of it. Thanks!
Childhood fav game remember staying up all night playing it and them the demo
The gameplay looks so smooth for a PS2 shooter. Didn’t catch this one back in the day.
Don’t forget Spartan: Total Warrior a near forgotten hack and slash game
I just got through playing this classic title and this was the video to follow it up with! It was a great game and a trip to play. I was thinking that this game could actually be a great movie and I'm not surprised to learn that it was ever being considered. I was wondering if there was ever talk of a sequel too and to think it was a possibility! I learned about Evil West recently and it was my thoughts exactly that its like Darkwatch.
Had this on the OG xbox, it was so good
Bro as a kid i would play tf out of this game at night in a haunted house and it was an experience, I would be there in the living room alone already scared of the game after the train level and have the washing machine turn on and shake violently out of nowhere and the fridge sliding to the middle of the room behind me
Good times
i loved this game so much, i played it with my brother multiple times! so much nostalgia just watching it
This game kicks ass. Super underrated.
Fo sho
Wow I've never heard of this game before but it looks reeeeeealllly crisp for a ps2 game. This gun models look great 👍
The gun models are actually super dope, I loved em
Never heard of this game but it sounds really fun. The graphics look surprisingly good still
I miss that era where the demos were so good, you didn't even need to buy the full game to continue having fun. This game being on that list, though that's mostly because I wasn't allowed to play M games at the time but the demo was still RP (despite it already having its M rated content in it) so my mom was cool with it lol
I loved to jump so high in the air it was so cool
Loved that game
This game was one of the first ps2 games I played. The cover art made me obsessed with it. Love this game. 🤘🏻
Evil West comes out September 20 in case you missed it!
Steampunk darkwest and described really well
Giving so many points of refference like steampunk, western, chtulu, gothic and whatever else lose the magic what can be described short but brief as steampunk dark western with some hellsing influences halo
This is much more intresting to hear and describe better what it is
It's just advice
Also theres better ways to learn whatever than skill share
Great game, much nostalgia
Yo I used to play the shiiiiiit out of this when I was a kid. I remember my dad coming to GameStop with me so I could buy it with my own money on the PS2. Was just a badass game.
Edit: sorry it was EB Games when I got it. Just remembered hah I’m 27 now and haven’t thought about this game in years
Haha that's amazing!
ah back in the days where you would get ripped off for trading in good times
Jerico Cross reminds me of Alucard from Hellsing, being a vampire aligned to a monster hunting organization who has a wide brimmed hat and wields dual pistols.
First I love this damn game, I think it was vastly underrated and flew under the radar after the PS2 Era. I wish we could get a PC port or a remaster, or a sequel!
Also MrHammers... Is that "Rise Up Deadman" from Hunt Showdown that starts in the background at 9:50? ;)
One of the other best damn shooters I have ever played and a lot of the public sleeps on that game too!
I really liked that you put some Hunt Showdown Ost in the background. I was thinking about the similarities trough out the video.
Definitely some inspiration coulda been had there, the ost just seemed to match the vibe
Damn, memory unlocked
23:23. That's my mission! "It's good fun,". Hell yeah, thanks!
This should have been adapted as an anime series.
I remember playing this game as a child back in 2016
Darkwatch? Hell yes!!!
I wish this continued.
i wish this was on steam because it was a blast to play and had a great story as well.
This game is my was and still is one of my faves
Man I loved this game as a kid on the ps2!
World War 2 Vampires? That’s a real fuckin gem of a concept
I miss playing this game!💔😭
I do not believe anyone in charge of weapon design has even been in the same room as a gun after seeing some of these reload animations and ammunition capacities.
I rented this game back in the day playing through it twice and it must've left some impact with me remembering it all these years later. Although it was probably the unique blending of 2 genres which has no doubt been done before but none to my memory and the stylized weapons and setting
A must for a remaster or remake
This game needs to make a comeback
I literally had this game at both of my houses growing up🤣
